Franklin is a city that is situated in Warren County, in the state of Ohio. The city was named in honor of Benjamin Franklin and was founded in 1796. The settlement was incorporated as a village in 1814 and, after almost 150 years, it was declared as the city of Franklin. The city is crossed by the Great Miami River and it is located at an elevation of 650 feet. The major roads to take into the city of Franklin are Interstate 75, State Route 73, State Route 123 and State Route 741. During its long history, Franklin has experienced positive growth regarding the population. In 1810, the first census counted only 202 people living in the settlement. At the census of 1970, the population exceeded 10,000 inhabitants. The census of 2010 informed us that the population reached the number of 11,771 residents in Franklin.The educational institutions that are providing excellent learning programs belong to the Franklin City School District and include five elementary schools and two high schools. There are also a Catholic high school and several other private schools that serve the city. Franklin Public Library is another institution that assists the educational process.
