Snow Canyon State Park features red Navajo sandstone and ancient lava flows, with camping, biking, hiking, and horseback riding opportunities. Sand Hollow State Park features a 1,322-acre reservoir with arm blue waters perfect for diving, fishing, and boating. Zion National Park is about an hour northeast of the city.
St. George is also the home of Dixie State University, and its downtown area is dotted with many historic 19th-century buildings, like the Brigham Young Winter Home and the Pioneer Courthouse. Regional artists are featured at the St. George Art Museum. There are many golf courses throughout the city, including the Entrada Golf Course, Dixie Red Hills Golf Course, and the Sunbrook Golf Club.
