A family-friendly location with outdoor workout equipment and a nice waterpark for your kids. Just outside the park, you will find a number of quality cafes like Meno's Mexican Grill and Shilo's. The 60acre Long Branch Park is for the northern crowd and features ball courts, picnic shelters, outdoor swimming and kid's playgrounds.
For shopping, the best place in town is the Killeen Mall, a regional mega-mall for Bell County. It is an amalgamation of over 100 stores and has local and global brands. The Killeen Farmers Market is a place to discover the organic side of Texas. You can get locally grown vegetables and delicious berries all year round. Right where the State Route 190 enters Killeen, you can find many heart-throb restaurants and eateries. The food scene can be best explored at the Choice Barbecue, known for is down-home style grills, or the Taqueria Mexico Lindo, a simple eatery with many calibers. Apart from the Tex-Mex cuisine, you can find Japanese, Italian, Chinese, Indian, and more.
If you are passionate about biking then you would love the 2.5-mile biking trail through the heart of the city, starting from Veterans Memorial and ending at the Bob Gilmore Center near Conder Park. If you are into mural arts, then head to the spillway wall of Belton Dam. It is the site of an underrated but epic mural, that portrays the entire history of Bell county. The Mayborn Planetarium and Space Theater is a must visit for its laser-light shows with 3-D graphics and music.
