The process was fairly streamline. The amount of in person meetings that were only able to be done at 8 am or 10 am did make it difficult to work around with my job. But otherwise, they were fairly easy to work with and and the house is beautiful and made well.

Great for a first home

Let me start by saying being able to get a brand new home for a first house is great, especially being in our price range. Every person we worked with throughout the process was super kind. However, the quality of the homes arent the best. I understand the cracks in the walls/ceilings as the house is settling. But the vinyl flooring is already peeling up in spots and there are nail pops that i can feel and see, the paint is already chipping on the baseboards and banister ledges and there are also waves in the ceiling and walls from the drywall tape. Also, if you are going to build with them, ...

A more detailed understanding of the lot layout should be discussed much sooner in the build plans. They embankments in between the houses are very steep and had to walk. The drive way is ridiculously angled and dangerous when icy, not to mention how short they are to barley handle parking 1 car length. To understand having houses raised for water run off is one thing but to build the up in some cases 4’ above curb level…

We moved into a brand new build in Reveerewood Estates. The neighborhood is great. Quiet, clean and friendly neighbors. The craftsman ship has been ok. Our house did not include handles on cabinetry which I thought was very strange based on the price point of the home. Internet was a big hassle because our tower/hub was placed in the wrong location on the property. Builder grade materials with no upgrades like other homes in the neighborhood. The yard and landscaping were lower grade. Ended up removing the landscaping and replacing and hiring my own landscaper for lawn and grading issues. As ...

Builders were great. The office people were not very friendly. Took very long time to get simple yes or no answers. All problems were blamed on covid. Need to be trained on customer service. Your customers are buying 300k homes, not 1$ french fries.

Allen Edwin Homes - I’d say overall, we’re pretty satisfied with our experience.

I’d say overall, we’re pretty satisfied with our experience. Allen Edwin was very responsive throughout our home building process. I learned quickly after we moved in that the customer service department takes that responsiveness to the next level. The house looks great and is about exactly what we thought it would be! However, there are other aspects of this process with Allen Edwin that were and are pretty frustrating. We were delayed several times and at one point saw nearly a month go by without any progress on the home. I know it’s not Al the fault of Allen Edwin, but I do feel that ...

It is a good house for the money, but be prepared with some issues in the first few months (to be expected with any new build) but also there are some areas where you can really tell the drywallers and trim carpenters just stopped caring. Lastly the couple things that really bothers me are, all of the interior walls are built 24” o.c., and when trying to finish your basement not a single floor joist is at the same height as the rest. This created quite the issue with framing.

Allen Edwin has done an ok job so far. We did have our windows stolen from the property during the build which put the completion date back about 45 days. I understand that it was out of Allen Edwin's hands, but still frustrating the same. This is our first home and didn't have expectations for the closing, but we did expect to receive the keys after closing which we did not. We had to wait because the keys were not at the closing office. Since we closed in November and had our "lawn" hydroseeded at the end of the season. Most of the seed washed away and we have a sandy dirt yard which ...

This was our first time home buying/building experience and Sorry to say, but Allen didn't do it any better. The wait for building the house was way too long. Allen even when knew that I have small kids and I told them all the plans I was thinking for my backyard, they didn't care in accommodate my thoughts and wasted all my back yard with the septic tanks, so I have a huge backyard were I can't do anything because they took it all. I also think that the way they decide to put utilities in the basement was based on economics and not in the best interest of the space. Taking me to think that ...

Cheapest materials they can find
- Jessica R.

Their homes are cheaper to build because they use the cheapest stuff they can find. Someone warned me before we decided to build with them, but we decided to anyways. Now we have pipes that knock when using hot water, all the counters are pulling away from the walls. Instead of caulking the counters they used grout so there’s a open crack between the walls and counters. Carpet is already run down because it’s like the cheapest they could find. Our whole bedroom door fell off the hinge because they used tiny screws instead of longer ones. When it rains or the snow melts our backyard floods. ...

Allen Edwin Homes - Be sure you fully understand the booklet they give you.

Be sure you fully understand the booklet they give you. If you have major problems with the land, stand water, poor final grade, or a pit. They will measure to see if it falls in the right distance to be their responsibility or not to fix. I had to fight to get major standing water issues fixed because it was X feet from the home not Y. Eventually I worked with a human on their side who talked to me like a human. And he got the issue resolved. When buying a home the land it comes on is just as important.

Allen Edwin Homes - There are issues with the designs of the larger homes that result
- Andrew G.

There are issues with the designs of the larger homes that result in floors shaking, this will result in long term damage like nail pops, broken tile etc. The second floor laundry shakes the entire house and glasses move on tables and countertops when people walk through the house. These are structural issues that need to be resolved in the floor plans with additional bracing or the customer satisfaction will remain low and the call back rates will continue to sky rocket on you "executive homes". If allen edwin keeps telling me everything is to code while doing the bare minimum to address ...

Allen Edwin Homes - The project manager was great to work with during the build.

The project manager was great to work with during the build but the quality of sub contractors was only fair or less. The project manager was great to work with during the build but the quality of some of sub contractors was only fair at best. The change made to the natural grade and elevation of the property caused additional grading expense to the home owner before landscaping could be completed.
