Great Final Outcome/ Lack of Communication During Build

  • Arturo V.

Started our home build in February 2021 and we closed Dec 2022. Construction delays aside, Beazer didn’t fully commit to keeping us in the loop of what was going on a weekly basis until the last few months of construction. We recognize that the pandemic made all things anything but normal, but we expected to be well informed at every step of the way and that wasn’t always the case. In the end, our home was completed the exact we wanted it and Beazer has had frequent contact with us to make sure that it stays that way.

Beazer Homes responded:
Arturo, we appreciate your feedback. It is wonderful to hear that our team is making sure your transition to your new home runs smoothly. We understand that building a new home can be stressful, and we want to apologize for any frustrations experienced with delays in construction or communication. Please know that we are always here to help and can be reached anytime at nhcc@beazer.com. - Daniela ...

Initially, the visit to the model homes were a great experience. The agent for Beazer and models was open and professional. We made an offer on a completed model home and it was accepted by Beazer. Once we moved into the initial process to complete purchase, earnest money, lender approval, and escrow, there was little contact with Beazer. Once under contract and walk through was started, Beazer CCR called for intial contact. Since it was a model, there was a "Pricing Addendum Worksheet" given to us detailing the upgrades installed in the model. No one went over the worksheet with us so we ...

Start up for us a as pretty good. We were relocating from another state and selling our home. They waited for us to close on our home to pay the down payment. We thought that was awesome and asked if it would delay our projected finish date … they assured us it wouldn’t but turn out it was delayed. Communication wasn’t the greatest. We constantly had to be fishing for updates and were only informed we would get the home a whole month after the initial estimate date when WE asked about it. As the checkpoints went through we got the very rare picture update but nothing detailed. Some of our ...

Response to your queries and keeping me informed all the time was very appreciated.. especially Mary and Shawn did a fantastic job in coordinating and updating however the quality of the home is about whom Beazer choose as a builder to build and do they hire right contractors to get a Top Notch quality output… for me the experience of buying was fine but the quality of the home and the attention to details to catch and correct things early was missing …

Many things were done brilliantly! Many things are the worst quality I have seen in over 45 years of building experience! Was it COVID? Lack of competent workers? Backlog resulting in "hurry-up" management and oversight? It was all of the above and more. I really don't fault an individual person or company. Our brand new home is one of the biggest disappointments in our life. It just lacks the expected quality and attention to detail. Every corner that could be cut was cut in most instances. Delivery of finished homes slipped in their scheduling and pressure came down from management ...

I would say overall our experience was pleasant however we did have a period of time where we lost our original construction manager and was replaced by another. I believe this process delayed our build substantially but we were never briefed on it. I’m not sure if it was the market or supply chain issues but it took 11 months from foundation pour to close. Our close date was pushed back multiple times and sometimes we didn’t know until 12 hours before closing. It was pretty frustrating.

Once your home is built. They do not return your calls for nothing. They rush the build and make a tone of mistakes, bad measurements, do not clean your home at all after the construction is finished. I had to have them come back in to clean and still paid a company to come and deep clean. They graded my right side of the yard wrong and water pools and they will do nothing about it after I have shared my storm water and pooling concerns to the build manager Joe. I will never recommend Beazer or it’s affiliated to anyone. There isn’t any pride and concerns with building any part of the homes.

We have invested more than half a million dollars into our new home, expecting quality finishings. We chose Beazer because they seemed to be an experienced quality builder, even in COVID impacted times. Sadly, after waiting almost 4 months longer than originally expected, the results are not impressive. Homes are nicely designed but the overall fit and finishes could be much better for the price we spent on our home. Beazer should do a completion walkthrough and inspect the home for completeness and quality completion prior to the new homeowners' walkthrough. There were some issues that would have improved the experience. There were no options for paint colors/types choices and the walls should have been painted in semi-gloss. There were visually blemished items found in the walk-through that a Beazer rep should have spotted and remedied before our walk-through.
