We were not able to get upgrades we requested. Slab was poured early for plumbing requests. We did not have walk-thru prior to sheetrock installation and some outlets were no in our preferred locations. At times some frustration having appointments delayed or rescheduled. If not for a sound deal and some resolutions made, this rating would be less.

Great build, poor planning with utility services

  • James Z.

Overall, Bloomfield builds a great home. The only issues we had were a result of poor communication with the developer and utility services such as AT&T internet. Once we moved in we didn't have internet for a month. In addition, the pre wiring completed by the builder for internet is outdated. AT&T has had fiber direct for quite sometime now and the wires that are hanging (eye sore, hide them in a box) out of the closet are of no use. Finally, we have had to go to the post office to collect our mail as the developer failed to communicate with the post office and have keys ordered for ...

I chose the Caraway plan, which is a lovely, spacious floor plan. The bedroom sizes are nice. My building process was a bumpy and unorganized first few months with the initial two community managers. Once Matt came onboard, communication was clear and consistent, he immediately cleared up all of the confusion in my documentation and I felt much more confident about the process going forward. The builder was not closely involved in overseeing the contractors work. There were items pending for weeks that could have been resolved much earlier and prevented the delay in my closing. Work that ...

We Closed, But There Was Plenty of Room for Improvement

Overall, the home was here as we agreed, but there a lot of things that could have been done better. Issue: Certain things were decided for us that could have taken our input. Discussion: While this is not a total custom build, a few preferences decisions could have been requested to make the experience better. For example, the builders mistakenly put an outlet on our fire place. Mistakes happen, which is okay, but they could have asked us if we wanted it or not. Instead, they just left it there and wired the entire living area through it. Recommendation: Indy should pose more ...

Very bad experience in between the transition of old hardware to new hardware

I was not intimated about the transition of hardware, the time i signed the house and then there was transition and i got a house with some new and some old hardwares with different colour combinations. I asked them to replace to any of the one alike combinations but i got a very good response saying that we can’t do anything its “corporate decision” Apart from this mismatch, pretty satisfied with the overall construction and the quality.

Bloomfield Homes responded:

Bloomfield has nice design options and homes at reasonable pricing, but they charge for almost everything to upgrade. We’re happy with our home but found a lot of issues with the details and workmanship. They are responsive and try to solve the problems however. I would say they are an average builder from my experience. Probably wouldn’t not use them again if I had the choice.

I wish someone would have fully explained that there is three years of home automation service included with the purchase. The home automation company began calling me on my way home from closing and was very pushy making me think they were just another salesman. Warranty department needs improvement. I called in a warranty issue on December 4 and was never contacted by the subcontractor. Almost a month went by and I had to contact the subcontractor and begin the process with them. I specifically asked Bloomfield if the A/C units were conventional units or heat pumps and was told they ...

My overall experience in building with Bloomfield Homes was just okay nothing to rave about. Communication from the builders was not proactive and the overall quality of materials and workmanship is below expectations. When selecting upgrades, It's important to keep in mind that you paying for the aesthetics not the aesthetics, quality material, and quality workmanship. For example, selecting shaker cabinets and the premium kitchen upgrade came with visible nail holes, rail hardware that doesn't support the drawers, and dinged-up drawers. We are also still trying to clean up residual gunk ...

My home buying experience was not how I thought it would be.after we closed and moved in we found a lot of things that needed to be addressed.but should have been addressed before we moved in.we are still finding things that needs to be addressed.they are being addressed but slowly. I understand that Covid is messed a lot of things up, but to take more than 13 months for basic house is ridiculous. Also, not to be able to make any changes at all was frustrating. You should call yourself Bloomfield track homes. I will say that the communication or lack there of was the biggest issue for us. From the salesman to the builder it was terrible. And the attitude that we were so lucky to even be getting a house when there were so many on the waiting list. We still over paid for a basic home, but I guess we should be grateful. Getting small things repaired for a new construction home is a challenge. The warranty people are responsive but the time frame to follow through with getting things fixed end up being delayed Example: Dishwasher, floors, fence, and tub need repair in my new construction home. Scheduling for warranty items only occur during the week day from 8:00-5:00, so it's challenging to get things fixed when you work. I'm still waiting on touch up paint to be delivered and I was told that it would be left in the house when I did the orientation. Overall, I like my new home and I think the ...

We went into contract mid-build. Framing and roof were completed. The builder was not very flexible with changing design choices. It was very much take it or leave it. There were many things that could have been changed such as fixtures, faucets and door hardware that we were not allowed to change. In fact after just two change requests we were told to stop asking. I get that it was a seller's market but we had to spend nearly $20K after closing on items that the builder could have let us change mid-build. Super frustrating and I won't be buying another Bloomfield Home.

I purchased at the beginning of the pandemic and dealt with supply shortages, etc. so purchasing now may be quite a different experience, but it was frustrating when you're expecting 8-10 months for a build and it takes 17 months. Overall at the end I am happy with the house and since I locked in my price before the surge in prices ended up with a good equity in my house.

Scott was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. Assisted in choosing the best home model and lot. Had a multitude of delays and hiccups along the way that Scott was task with keeping me abreast of, even though almost nine were of his doing. I feel the quality and workmanship of the home suffered because of a lack of supervision throughout the home building process. The trades are in such demand that I think builders are willing to sacrifice quality just to get someone on site. Many of the delays we suffered, in my opinion, we’re absolutely avoidable if our build would have been ...

However, I would like to give 5 stars to Travis for his great job and effort to try to finish our home despite all the external issues. Mike is good pretty good at communication but overall not the best especially with the finance company.. The part of contract that we had to sale our home by roofing stage. But the Bloomfield is an estimate which essentially could have put us homeless with the estimate on Bloomfield’s side. We ended up purchasing a home which we had no choices. We contracted for our home in Nov of 20 with a projected completion date of Oct 21 but did not get to close on it until April of 22 in the Oak Hill Ranch development in Cross Roads. Bloomfield honored everything in the contract which was greatly appreciated. So the over home buying experience will come in various way. Closing was great as it was quick and well organize with all documents. The financing part was the headache and will remain anonymous on who we started out with but it was confusing, unclear and at time very degrading in communications. I had a Bloomfield home built that was suppose to be ready by December but I didn't close until mid March. I hired a private inspector who found several things that needed to be fixed prior to moving in. Most things were minor but Bloomfield made it seem as if it wasn't a big issue. Well if you are having a brand new house built then you want it to look and feel new. Upon moving in some of those things were still not fixed and additionally I found several other things.
