Challenging process

I really wanted to say great things but my experience had been anything but that. Someone forgot to put a cap on the roof fixture and there was major rain water damage to both the floors , ceilings, walls and carpet before move in. We had an add on for tile floors and more than half are uneven, raised that you can feel the dips when walking and even tripped over a couple. The wrong grout was used on the three bathroom tubs/tray and they look horrific- no caulk. Garage door has light coming through - hence the temperature is unbearable in the garage since it’s not sealed properly. Front door ...

Solid Home - Poor Communication

We really enjoyed the majority of the home we built. Poor quality with the drywall and painting throughout the home with many issues that will need to be corrected over the next few months and years to come. Further, substandard communication during the closing process from the on-site representative as evident in the fact that we did not receive the keys to our home until days after we signed the official closing documents with the lawyers office. Fortunately the construction manager was able to let us into our home. With that being said, the home still met our needs and we love the ...

The only complaint I have is that the sub floor upstairs is not flat! When we walk upstairs, we feel the imperfections beneath our feet. We raised the issue a few times but were told this is as good as it gets!

Michael was a great construction manager, Sam was an awesome Salesperson, other than that the experience was very stressful we had one issue after another and they took 4 extra months to finish our home, our house has several issues (not serious, but still) overall after moving we are happy with our house, and the neighborhood.

Good, not great

Overall, we enjoy our Centex home. It is our fist home purchase and so we were a little less picky, and the market in our area is extremely competitive, with the costs of homes going through the roof. The home seems to be build well generally. But all of the details were clearly rushed. The detailed paint job we sloppy, the landscaping wasn't great. But none of the issues so far have been irreversible. And considering the market, the price point was desirable. So overall, it is a good house, not a great house.

I did not have the best customer experience from the sales through the build experience. Once we signed the contract, we felt like a number and not a client. Poor communication throughout the process. We pointed out several build quality issues throughout build. Only closer of the build came in and tried to rectify the issues we pointed out and could provide honest answers and time frames.

Make sure to communicate with the sales representative and super intendent and be thorough with all questions. Educating yourself and making sure to ask questions is crucial. There are a lot of moving parts with several contractors so their internal process isn't streamlined the best. You just need to make sure you stay on top of it.

Very happy with the homebuying process until the week of closing and there was an alarming rush to get things done. The workmanship was less than desirable. There has been great effort to correct errors but I'm not confident that the builder would have made corrections on their own. We had to show and notify them of all the mistakes/oversights. Great efforts have been made in the last month but there are a couple outstanding items that are not available (beyond their control). Patience is key. Please read your paperwork and make sure you get everything you paid for, because they will not ...

My wife and I had to micromanage much of our home build. There were numerous mistakes that had to be corrected, throughout the process and at the last minute as well. Our closing date was pushed twice. There were issues still getting corrected after closing. Not a quality build.

There are open areas in my roof line as I can see light from my attic asking my whole front entry walkway, when it is on. Very poor caulking job outside and especially above my tub. Along the floor as well they are not all clean lines and trim work has flaws. Very messy and ugly. Paint specs all over on my floor. Lumps under my carpeting, my garage door does not close all the way to the cement and the ground is not level with the garage door. Shotty concrete work under the brick by my garage. Random concrete in bricks that was slapped in after the fact and is a different color cement. ...

I'm still waiting to get some things fixed, more than six weeks after closing.

I submitted a list of things that needed to be corrected. Yes, even new houses have things like cracks that aren't filled in and sawed out rectangles in the wall. I still have a temporary stove in my place because the people who put in my permanent stove didn't remove it at the same time. Copper pipes are still sticking out of the ground. I don't want to put landscaping rock in my yard for fear the rock will puncture a line. The house itself is really nice though. I especially like the low HERS rating which means the house is insulated to save on heating and cooling bills.

Centex Homes - Craftsmanship is terrible.

Craftsmanship is terrible. A brand new construction looks like a horribly renovated home. The brand new construction we closed on looks like it's been lived in by squatters. It does not look brand new. Sales rep and construction manager were very helpful. They just needed a lot of following up. Other than that, they provided good customer service.

Centex Homes - The entire process was smooth for the most part.

The entire process was smooth for the most part. The builder did transition between building managers so we had a few communication break downs. The biggest area of opportunity for them is the landscape and sod installation. I am not happy with the sod being delivered brown and sitting for a few days, no top soil used, and the landscapers laying it down on rock without racking it out

They rush to finish the homes. had to push out my closing date. And the inside of the home still had things to get fixed even after my closing. Sloppy work on some areas of the house. Centex is an ok builder. Homes should be supervised better and more careful before giving a firm closing date.
