The lack of willingness not change anything on the house before it was built and the ridiculous questions that were asked during the purchase

The home itself is nice, no complaint there. However I’ve been in for 4 weeks, the cabinets are atrocious and not well built. The drawers hang or won’t close. Or they’re so close to another cabinet or drawer you can’t open them because they don’t have handles. The spare bathroom developed a leak in the shower diverter and it’s been 5 days and no one from warranty has been here to fix it after they assured me they would. The paint the builders uses is horrible. If you remotely tough the paint, it’s leaving a very distinct mark. The more you look the more you see where the drywall and mud ...

Centex Homes - Home had several issues and a final quality inspection not done

Home had several issues and a final quality inspection not done properly. I’m currently dealing with several defaults that need to be fixed. Company being responsive but could have been avoided if more quality was set in place instead of speed to finalize a project.

The sales process was easy, but the construction team not so good. Im still finding things wrong with the house. I've been in the house for 2 months and still don't have some of the original issues fixed. Construction team is unresponsive now.

Centex Homes - I have the biggest case of buyers remorse.

I have the biggest case of buyers remorse. Plastic faucets on a 245k house? Lawn is full of weeds. Builder does not respond in a timely manner. Cheap fixtures make me so sad. I had a history maker home that was much better quality and the builder was top notch. I am beyond sad about my home but feel stuck with it.

Our experience with Centex was not a great one. A lot of options weren't available and we went through several different build managers. We were shown a model home and there were a lot of features in the model home and were not told that those feature would not be in our home. The main issues we had was with their in house underwriting department with a lot of communication errors.

Prior to my walkthrough I had an inspection done of the home. During my walkthrough I gave that report and reported some other problems with the home. I was told everything would be fixed, that did not happen. After I moved in I noticed several more things . There were flaws in the workmanship done around the home. Overspray of paint, construction debri under appliances, debri on top of kitchen cabinet, unfinished caulking around several of the baseboards and door trims, nail holes, hole in wall, nicks in doors and frame, unfinished paint spots, debri in window seals, finger prints on walls ...

I have had to put a ticket in 4x in one month (2) tkts were due to my downstairs not heating up. I have had the ac/heating company come out twice the first one shut vents on my 2nd floor and did an air balance check and still it did not help. The second time they came out they opened up the vents upstairs and told me to run the fan while running the heater still no big change in the way my downstairs feels. Now I believe im beginning to see a spot on my ceiling in my upstairs bathroom that cld be a roof leak. I also had an irrigation issue on the side of my home when I moved I was told this ...

The buying experience was fantastic, the sales person(s) were fantastic, the original construction supervisors were great, and the construction seemed to be going well, as time to close on the sale was nearing the wheels fell off the building machine. It seemed everything that could go wrong went wrong, many items lacked in workmanship, many things didn't work, then it was a rush to the finish.
Centex Homes responded:
We sincerely apologize that you encountered issues toward the end of the construction process and we have shared this feedback with our leadership team. If you'd like to discuss your experience with us, please don't hesitate to email us at socialcare@pultegroup.com. --Sarah

Be prepared for issues to arise between your final walk through and closing. The field manager claimed that Centex would provide a "paint touch up kit", it never happened and I have several areas in my home that the builder failed to paint. I can't even get a response from the company just for the name of the paint color. I've been trying to get a response for several weeks. There was dirt rubbed into my carpet from electricians that were in my home doing work while I was closing. I came home immediately after closing and electricians were in my home, without anyone telling me they would be ...

In the first month of moving in we're finding issues with electrical, internal structure etc. The door frames are cracking up. The seam cracks are showing on the walls within a month. Our previous house was also a new construction and we did not face those issues.

Slightly better than buying a pig in a poke
- Kevin F.

The home buying process with Centex has been only slightly better than buying a pig in a poke. Our closing date was moved up by the builder, presumably to enhance their month end figures. This resulted in the house not being exactly ready. Much of the finishing was sloppily completed. This includes: doors hung without being level, crooked electrical outlets, painting overspray, inconsistent painting, closet framework not being caulked and painted, drier vent not being attached, noticeable gaps between the front door and its frame, to name a few. Some of this was fixed before closing, some ...

Buying my first house

Initially buying the property was nice and everyone was accommodating. But when the paperwork started and money was exchanged, the people on the neighborhood staffing were not attentive and negligent. My wife and I were lied to about a few things and documents were created without consent. Schedules were messed with and we were told it was our fault. But after it was all said and done, none of it was major and we love the house we are in for the most part. The neighborhood is nice and accommodating, the Centex helpline is quick to act and helpful.

Our home buying experience was nothing more than average. I do not feel that Centex does anything over and beyond. We have had several complaints about our home since we moved in, none of which have been addressed. I absolutely would go with a different builder in the future. We have a home, so that’s a plus. But, there is nothing special about this builder. If you are looking to be mediocre, you are doing great.

Check the quality of the home. 30 days in and we have several issues that are all quality related. For the money our expected value isn’t there. Based on our personal experience I’d say the builder’s reputation does not match up with what we are experiencing. In general we are dissatisfied.

After declining to participate in the their initial “bidding” process, they finally just put the prices on homes. We end up buying a home, but the quality is bad. Dishwasher doesn’t dry, caulking missing from showers, doors askew and when you try to contact someone, no one gets back with you about fixing issues.

I had high hopes for my new home purchase but have identified several areas where Centex cut corners. The paint feels like chalk and there are areas in the construction where they attempted to 'fill in' chipped drywall with plaster and it is very noticeable. Not to mention the fact that the floor on the 2nd level squeaks in multiple rooms. I submitted a service request 1 week ago mentioning these issues (and others) and still no response from the builder. Bummer
