Overall a good home for the price. However, have seen better builds from different builders with a little higher quality for the same price.

The buying process was great and easy but after living in the home for a month and seeing how bad the workmanship is. Tickets need to be opened for everything. I am disappointed.

The quality of the inside finish wasn’t good. There were lots of flaws in the drywall (eg nail holes, gouges, mortar spatters, rums in the paint etc). The doors were hung with large gaps on the bottom of the frames. The dryer vent wasn’t connected and the dryer vent on the roof was plugged because a screen was left on the vent by the roofers. The dishwasher drain wasn’t connected properly and caused damage to the cabinets. There are dents on the refrigerator, dryer and oven. The coaxial cable from the outside of the house to the inside was defective. There is a dead tree by the driveway that was dead long before we closed (it still hasn’t been replaced). There is a swale behind our rear fence that is a mosquito breeding, unsightly mess. ... More

not good experience in my first day in my new home

We closed on our new home Mid-December. We still have 2 repairs still not completed. A cracked bathroom cabinet frame due to sink installer damaging it. And a 3rd bathroom fiberglass shower surround that has major damage to it which we discovered post-closing. It should have never been installed, or the installer damaged it. We reported it to customer service within 30 days post close and now a month later it is still not replaced. This is a major defect and has caused our family undue distress and taken away the joy of buying a new home. Very frustrated and dissatisfied.

I appreciated the communication throughout the build and understand Hurricane Ian throwing a monkey wrench into an already complicated supply chain, but I do understand the motivation to lie to me. Making arrangements to live while the build was completing would have been easier if I was told the truth instead of trying to make me feel better with overly aggressive time lines. We all knew it was going to take three times longer than I was told, so what is the motivation to lie to me? Finally, we had concerns on the finish of the walls and paint that we were instructed were normal finishes for these houses. We come to find out from the 30 day quality inspection that paint and dry wall is embarrassing and never should have been released in this condition. It was obvious that either the damage from the hurricane was patched up instead of done correctly and/or was rushed, and now we have to manage a work crew redoing 1/2 the drywall and paint while all of our belongings are in the house. I would expect this from buying a cheap house and getting a cheaply made product, but we paid above average pricing and got a below average job on fit and finish. I have nothing bad to say about the quality of how well the house is sealed or the strength of construction. I still have trust that that was done correctly having been walked through the house during construction and seeing the final product. We will eventually be happy after corrections are made, but this all could have been avoided with less marketing BS and more honesty up front. ... More

Purchased a home from Pulte/Centex - 4 months before closing. Craftsmanship was poor in multiple areas at “final walkthrough”. I feel the house should be completely finished with all errors corrected before “final” review. However, 100+ pieces of blue tape were everywhere with defects in cabinetry, warped walls, etc. We were given the “official” closing date 7 days prior to signing documents and receiving keys (moving from 3 hours away with moving trucks). Work to fix all errors didn’t occur in time which caused a chaotic mess and delayed closing. Of course we had our 2 children and full trucks anticipating moving in. I escalated concerns to the corporate office which informed us they would reach out and reimburse us for hotels, moving and other expenses incurred from the official closing date given to us until move in (delayed 5-7 days). Of course, we never heard from him again & ate the costs of Pulte’s error for storage & hotels. To be honest, the 15 days leading to us physically moving was a total nightmare. Attic’s are not useful because the house is not built well.

Price is pretty comparable to other builders. The work however…SHODDY WORKMANSHIP!!! I wish I could post pictures. The turnaround time on the home was FAST but unfortunately the workmanship suffers. All the work from the cement subfloor to the paint and texture to the cabinets is poorly done. Unfortunately, we did not notice the majority of these things until we moved in. We closed two months earlier than expected so that should’ve been a red flag!!! Salesman and construction manager were very communicative though!

There are lots of small things which are not complete.

To me the house that was built was just average. They could have better builder grade for flooring and cabinets. Not every room has a ceiling fan connection. They should include in the basic package gutters and sod for back yard too.

The Centex team were helpful and worked to get us in the house but the quality of the home is subpar. Windows are misshapen, walls aren’t straight, grass was laid poorly, etc. We’re not pleased and we might have made a mistake buying a home from Centex.

Our experience with Ryan in Sales was very pleasant and professional. As first-time Centex homebuyers, not our best experience with new construction because of Centex policies. We saw the home at the end of 2021 (the walls were not yet sheet rocked) and wanted to purchase at that time and were told the price. However, Centex did not release the lot until March 2022 with no reason given despite our many emails and phone calls to the sales office with offers to purchase. When the lot became available, the price was raised $50,000 with no cosmetic changes permitted (including paint color and style of the front door) even though it was early in the construction process. Once in the home we were told we had to wait 11 months for many of the issues we had with the construction to be corrected, including damaged windows and missing caulk and sparse mulch that we ended up paying to replace since the builder-controlled HOA refused to address this issue. Our experience with Centex would have been enhanced if all of the above did not happen. Therefore, we most likely will think long and hard before purchasing another home from Centex. ... More

Multiple issues not resolved throughout the home. Two walkthroughs with blue tape and still issues remained. Doors not properly sealing. Two of the rooms in the "Smart home" did not have the ethernet cables terminated or cut into the walls. The filter was missing for the AC, when they finally installed it, it was a used and very clearly dirty filter, if I could post the picture I would, absolutely gross, Trash left in the AC unit, and cabinet doors installed backwards, Exterior of home has misaligned panels. Still waiting for numerous repairs that were identified prior to closing (May, 2022). I’m praying that the service improves.

We still have things that need to completed in our home.

Several blue tape items existed and only some of them were corrected before closing. Several issues/items still exist that were never corrected. Overall workmanship on building the house is not satisfactory. Overall responsiveness from construction manager and sales representative were unsatisfactory.

I have no complaints about Centex as an agent. I would only recommend that they have a design center so it is easier to pick out your options within the home. A electronic design center that buyers can do on their free time to pick and choose options for their home. I am not a fan of Pulte Homes. We were promised a lot of things before we closed that NEVER happened or were fixed. After we closed our builder (Chaz) acted like we never bought a home from them. We can’t even get a friendly wave as he is standing out side of our new home and makes eye contact. There was no follow up or communication with the builder to fix what he promised us before closing or within the first 30 days of our home like he promised. We were contacted by customer support at our 30 day mark and had to ask for them to fix what the builder promised us would be fixed before our first 30 days in the home. So far they are helping us but we are waiting for things to be actually fixed as we hit our 60 day mark in the home. As a first time homebuyer this made my experience stressful and upsetting. In the end we realized that the builder was lying to us about what he was going to do for us to get us to just close on the home. If I had to build a home I wouldn’t want to have Pulte do it because of our experience. I’m the end we do love our home but we wish that our home was built with more attention to detail. I don't care about some of the petty rules the company made. I needed them to accommodate my schedule and not for me to accommodate theirs. This meeting all the time was not going to fit my schedule when email and texting would work. Don't state the obvious. I can read. They were way behind getting my home done and the excuse was that the shortage of what ever was the cause. Other houses started way after mine were being completed. Work should have been diverted to finishing my home as promised. Home quality sucks and things I mentioned were a problem were never reviewed and fixed. I was so desperate to get into my home that I just moved and fixed myself (I am 69 yo female). I was informed that it was not like my house cost a million dollars and imperfection was to be expected on some things. This was my million dollar home!! ... More

Our field manager was great until he got sick and someone else came in. That promised everything was going to be fixed a week from closing I had a large hole in my powder room and holes under my stairs at my pre closing which shows no effort to inspect before pre closing ever took place. Fast forward to closing day. Nothing is done. I withheld the funds to close until 10 pm that night because that is when the field manager was able to complete everything that was wrong. I am not that nit picky person but they dropped the ball. I also had my driveway crack as soon as I drove over it. That was cracked for 2 weeks. I still don’t have screens on my windows and most bugs are entering in my house because it is not properly sealed. There are decent homes here.

Rushed work quality. For starters, Paint and drywall left behind on floors and carpets, texture blemishes, sod placed over the top of construction debris and very uneven lumpy/bumpy ground, trees not planted in correct locations as per my requests. Property is constantly covered in construction trash from the centex build next door, siding was damaged from neighboring construction.

The attention to detail throughout the house was disappointing. The door frames, baseboards & trim, backsplash, electrical outlets, drywall around windows are not quality work and appliances were damaged when installed by builder. The trim around interior doors is separating, there are dings and painted over damaged areas in the baseboard trim throughout the house, electrical outlets are not flush with the walls in many areas, drywall and paint around window frames is damaged. Expected a lot more attention to detail.

During the initial phase, the information provided was done in a professional manner and maintained throughout the home building process. Once we actually moved in, we did not expect to have to deal with concerns brought up before we moved in. The follow up-seemed like we were bothering them to correct workmanship that was needing repair. We asked to meet at a time that worked with our work schedule and were told the only time available was Monday - Friday, 8-4pm. We altered our schedule to meet the times provided.
