Frustrating Homebuying Experience

I was hoping that frustrations during my closing period would improve, but it has gotten worse. Now that I am in the home, I am noticing cut corners and serious shortcuts taken with things like the electrical. The build team seems to not want to deal with me, passing me off to the Pulte service team, who I have called four times in the last two weeks without any followup from the local agent I need to speak to. Every time I pull back a layer of this home, I seem to find a new issue, which is a very bad feeling to have. Sorely disappointed and quickly developing a case of buyer's remorse.

Our project manager does not have the knowledge to build a house. Contractors do less than quality work and it is acceptable to the PM. We had to point out several issues. They installed broken window, broken cabinet, unlevel flooring, no straight walls, terrible paint job and I could go on and on. You close and move in and it is a pain to get the outstanding work completed after they have your money. Go elsewhere!

First off, Rochelle and the rest of the sales team are amazing. I mean they knocked it out of the park. Then there is the field team and warranty team. They literally sucked the joy out of my experience of building my first home. They constantly change the rules to suit their needs, not the customer’s. My house had two floods. The first was when they hooked up the kitchen sink. It was installed incorrectly. The water damage resulted in cabinets needing to be replaced. Overall very disappointed with the quality of the material and workmanship. Interior space, layout, plan seems OK. But execution, quality material, workmanship, quality control, inspection process are subpar. The second day after moving we had to call emergency number for water leak in laundry room. You can imagine the experience. I had purchased two houses prior to this and were not this disappointed unfortunately. I am not recommending anyone to build or purchase Centex house.

Carpet stained, paint spray on everything

No quality or pride in workmanship. Carpet covered in paint and drywall dust. Treated like damaged floors, switches, appliances, counters etc are normal for a new house. No processes whatsoever. Every attempt to fix just made worse because they hire the cheapest most inexperienced labor they can find.

My honest overall experience has not been the best and definitely had room for improvement from day one of my experience. I experienced poor customer service not from all but a few. Believing Centex and Pulte are linked I had a fair share of issue with Pulte as well . The people from the warranty not respond to the orders plus when with did the second walk around they didn't fix anything from the first walk plus the second walk they didn't fix again everything what with mark and we have to leave to do paper work for the house and at the time to come back to the house they didn't fixed that is my experience from you company late respond plus not fix what they promise to fix

Not worth the buy

The craftsman ship of their workers was bad. I never seen or heard of using caulk as a boarder once floors are laid, what happened to the quarter round strips, paint spots throughout home on the cheap, thin vinyl flooring and carpet. It just goes on.. what happened to quality of work and good craftsmanship.

The foundation and materials used to build the house were builder grade but I hope everything was done at least up to code for anything our inspector couldn’t see. As far as the quality of the work we can see, it is very poor. There is not a single room, door, trim, cabinet, or wall that doesnt have a mistake. I keep dividing areas as well that just weren’t painted like underneath the vent that you can’t see if you’re standing…how clever. I can't believe this whole process, from lack of communication, poor workmanship and the absolute carelessness. The sales rep team was the only high note of this process but the builders/field team dragged the rest of the team through the dirt.

I have lived in this home for 3 weeks and have had to put in 3 work orders. Most of my outlets do not work, I had a huge leak which caused my water to turn off. They were suppose to send out the irrigation people to fix it, this still has not happened. My backyard and front yard was supposed to be re-rolled. This has not happened. My oven does not work submitted a work order has yet to hear from the people about fixing it. Centex has not been a good experience. Everyone was warm and welcoming in the beginning, but they are not to be trusted. They force you to close before everything is correct and they tell you it’ll be no problem to get it fixed. Once you reach out, it’s hard for them to fix it. They cut corners and try to make you feel like you’re stupid or wrong for asking them to fix it. If I’m paying this much for a house, I would like it to be done correctly. Many problems. Workmanship is poor. The overuse of caulk to hide cracks, gaps and repairs. One trade comes in and ruins the work of others. Windows, countertops, flooring, stove and doors scratched. Marginal material quality. Nail pops in drywall. Builder pushes to close prior to fixing issues and telling you they will fix it after closing. Paint went on where it shouldn’t and where it should go on it was insufficient. In some cases, It takes the trades 3 or 4 times to make it right. It has been a month since closing and still finding issues. This has not been a good experience.

After deposit was paid it was impossible to have someone call you back. They don’t build as specified on website. Were not up front about all the charges you have to pay. Can’t get them to come fix problems Major electrical problem that has to be addressed.

Literally everything that could go wrong during this build went wrong. We are 6 weeks after closing and I still don't have sod on parts of my yard. I have stained floor tiles, lumps in the carpet upstairs, the wrong baseboards, the wrong countertops and wrong backsplash was installed. I know Covid had a part in the availability of products however I wish we did not close until all of these issues were corrected.

I'm moving date we had a water leak. Carpet how to get pulled up tack strips padding for the car pickup pulled up how to cut out sheetrock in 3 different rooms. And the house is very dirty when we moved in I'm going to make my second payment and stuff has still not all been fixed

After moving into our home, several issues were noted. One was the realization that the bathroom tub has permanent damage, namely, severe scratches and scuff marks that cannot be remedied by cleaning. Another issue was several scratches on the glass of the bathroom mirror. Those scratches, obviously, cannot be removed by cleaning. Centex has refused to remedy those issues.
