Buyer beware

Been in the house almost 2 months. Still trying to schedule repairs from before I closed. :(

From the beginning, communication has been terrible. I am extremely disappointed with our sales representative Andre. I first looked at purchasing the home while deployed overseas with the military using a power of attorney, my father. The house was advertised as April 7, 2019 complete. I loved the house and we were told BY ANDRE that closing would be in May on the 7th AS WAS AGREED TO DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WAS RETURNING HOME IN MARCH. IT WAS AGREED BY BOTH PARTIES TO ALLOW ADDITIONAL TIME TO THE CONTRACTOR ONLY DUE TO POSSIBLE WEATHER DELAYS. In the contract we put May 30th as our final date, in case there were delays DUE TO WEATHER. OUR DISCCUSSIONS BEFORE CONTRACT SIGNING AND AFTER WAS ALWAYS ABOUT THE HOUSE BEING DONE ON MAY 7TH. IN FACT THE FIRST APPLICATION WAS COMPLETED WITH THE SETTLEMENT DATE OF MAY 7TH. HOWEVER, I AND MY FATHER WERE lied to from the start. Once I returned home and began the terrible process of trying to gather information on the house, it came to my attention that no one other than myself were given these dates and in fact the house was scheduled from the start for JUNE 21st. This is only the first problem with communication and I was flat out lied to by Andre who stated he checked with the builders prior to putting in the May dates. We ran into further problems with upgrades. I had 2 representatives go to pick upgrades, due to my deployment, and they weren't given the due diligence or time they deserved. Andre was constantly going in and out and this clearly showed later in the build when we had 3 errors in the upgrades that cost me thousands that I was unaware of because his communication to my representatives and POA was awful. From here on out I hardly received emails about the home and was not notified when the house FAILED INSPECTION. It was only after returning from R&R after being away from my family for 10 months did I find the house progress didn't move and the inspection was failed. To this day it was never communicated why the house failed inspection and caused a 3 week delay in the build process. Further delays in the house were clearly due to builder negligence. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY THE HOUSE NEXT TO MINE WHICH WAS NOT SOLD WAS COMPLETED WEEKS BEFORE MINE. THIS TELLS YOU THAT THERE WAS NO PRIORITY AND SCHEDULING DONE PROPERLY TO GET THIS HOUSE DONE IN MAY. THERE WAS NO REASON WHY MY HOUSE COULDN'T BE DONE MY MAY 7TH SINCE THE HOUSE NEXT DOOR WAS NOT SOLD AND WAS COMPLETED BY THEN. The poor communication and outright lack of integrity of the Centex sales representatives caused an extremely stressful time for myself and my family. To come home after being away for 10 months to a home that is over a month late than I was promised is absolutely disgraceful and left homeless for 5 weeks because we trusted the original contract. A more detailed letter will follow with more information. I was completely unsatisfied with the service I received from all parties involved. As a member of the armed forces being deployed, I hope no other family has to go through the struggles that Centex caused for my family. It is a shame such a great moment of home ownership has been completely tarnished for us. Due to the negligence and lies of the Centex team, my family was split for over 5 weeks. The original contract provided gave us certainty the house would be ready but instead we had to live out of bags, storage units, and cars because of the whole teams negligence. It is already an extremely difficult thing to be away from my family for 10 months, then to come home thinking our new home will be construction complete in April, only to find I was lied to in the original contract is absolutely unjustifiable and an injustice to our service members. I hope your company learns from this but I will never be recommending Centex to anyone. ... More

It did take a little time to close, and at times the same paperwork that I was asked to submit was being asked to submit more than once either because Centex claimed they never received it or they needed it again. As for my reason to giving a 1 star on Responsiveness to issues is due to a couple of maintenance issues I have that was brought to their attention to 3 different people and I have yet to receive a callback, Email or anything on those maintenance issues that need to be fixed, going on week 4 now.

Overall a great experience. One suggestion for new buyers: When working the "Options List" go through each item, whether you wanted it or not. Ask questions. When done: do it again! After the second time, take a walk through a few models, look at samples again. Maybe even come back the next day (you will be pooped I assure you). Then go through the list a third time! Check and re-check. Once your house is designed, just wait until work starts!!!! Amazing how quickly it goes up and how well it is constructed. Amazing the state of the art things that are built in, many you would not even see if you never visited construction and talked with Field Manager. Alec, mine, is amazing. And even now, almost 2 months after it became mine, he stops in to see how thinks are going and answer any more questions. Even now I have one wall switch I have not found what it controls. This was a pretty simple process as everyone on the team helped with the smooth transition.

Everything they did was amazing. They listen to you and every aspect, while they Building your house , they are awesome.

The home itself is great. From sales through construction and to service has been outstanding. Quality is good and our punch list was small. The only I have was with Pulte Mortgage, It was not until 7 pm the night before closing did we know we were good to go.

I'm happy to have purchased my first townhome in Rego Palms. I had a pleasant experience thanks to Dwane and Dawn the Centex on-site managers. They were very attentive, personable and ensuring that any issues will be resolved timely; which they were. I'm happy to have made my first townhome purchase a Centex built home :)

Thank you Team Centex for a Home built to my expectations. We are loving it.

If you get the Compton model, be sure to question about gutters for the front door. We were told we didn't need gutters, but there is a virtual flood over the front door whenever it rains. Also, understand what you choose may not include common things like towel bars and towel rings. Be prepared to wait for responses, although eventually they do respond.

overall the buying experience was pleasant

Built a great home very quickly (too quickly) Project manager was great and very responsive up until closing date. After moving in, we noticed a lot of things Un-finished. This is my first home and expected the closeout to be close to perfect, this however was not the case. Un/finished home and we now a month later have to go through warranty to get our problems fixed.

I am pleased with my new Centex home. I've only had minor disappointments in the quality of materials and workmanship, but considering the affordable price I think that is to be expected. The actual home-building process was fantastic with no issues or hang-ups.

If you go with Centex I highly encourage you have a third party home inspection completed prior to closing. Do not close until all of your issues are completely resolved. It will save you several hours of frustration ofter closing by getting the defects resolved prior to Centex/Pulte getting their funds.

We are very pleased with our home and appreciate all the quality work that was done by the crews and all the work and care that was performed by Ryan and Ivy.

We are currently in a smaller 1 story home not far from this property. My wife needed more room. After searching numerous floor plans and her desire to have a much bigger WIC (Walk In Closet), we decided on the Kisko model. The Elevation model "M" also provided a front porch although a bit small. Juast liked the design.

Centex Homes makes it easy to get into a house. Our Saleswoman was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The construction manager was less helpful and we had an overall sour experience towards the end of the process. We love our home - still has open issues waiting to be addressed but overall we were glad to have the home.

So happy that I purchase a Centex product. Great home and neighborhood

Not up to par

I just spent a month in this new home but I have experienced much trouble with a lot of things not working. The first thing I experienced the second day of packing in was the microwave got damaged. Air conditioning system was not properly designed for 2 of the rooms as it does not circulate air. Electrical faults and leakage at the kitchen sinks. Too bad.

We built a house long distance. Meeting with Ivey to start the process was very easy and fun. The design center was great. Ryan kept us up-to-date the whole way. Ivey and Ryan would answer any and all questions we had no matter when we asked. We are very happy with our new home.
