We really enjoy our new Centex home! Good value and high quality home!

We are deeply disappointed with the poor quality of customer service we have experienced since closing on our house. Despite our efforts, no one has been willing to address the issues we have encountered. It has now been 45 days since closing, and several problems remain unresolved. While I prefer not to mention any names here, it is important for the management team to be aware of the individuals responsible for the Winding Brook subdivision in San Antonio, TX. I wish there were a way to share pictures to illustrate our concerns.

Horrible customer service with construction manager JOE.

Communication was great during the building process from start to finish we were able to know what exactly was happening. Great home for my family with space to suit all our needs.

Not happy with response time with a water leak. Going to take 7 days to get a repair person to house meanwhile money/water going down sewer.

I moved in April 15, 2024 hoping to settle in a new home where I wouldn’t have to worry about any issues first month of moving in noticed that water was leaking from AC furnace drain pipe and had home warranty work done well that issue was resolved. I was then having issues with my AC not cooling my house. This also was happening on the first month. I’m going onto the five months now in this new home and my AC still hasn’t been fixed temperatures get up to 80° and we’re talking about it would be seven in the afternoon and I come home to a 80° house or also my kids have to suffer being in a house that is warm so my experiences have been awful bad and the AC company that’s in charge of warranty work hasn’t been able to resolve this issue. They all come out and look at it and don’t fix anything. Furnace is sweating baseboard. It sits on accumulating mold I just don’t know how long it takes to resolve an issue with the AC and the high humidity that accumulates in the house in the attic So my experience has been real awful that at this point, I don’t feel comfortable here anymore. I’ve gotten to the point where I just want to sell this house and look for a different builder. I will never buy a centex home ever again. ... More

My overall experience with Pulte/Centex builders has been very positive and pleasant. My construction manager, John, has been AMAZING from start to finish, and he continues to update me & respond when I have questions or concerns even after moving in. The weekly emails and pictures were so impressive and very helpful, keeping me informed when I was living over 550 miles away. The customer service follow through via email responses and phone calls is some of the best I've ever encountered. This includes all Pulte/Centex team members. I love the place and very nice

I don't know I could recommend Centex in good faith if someone were to ask. I am going to be getting another home in the area soon for myself and am not considering another Centex proiperty.

The purchase process was simple. We did not finance so the sale went quickly. We were sent pictures of the building process. Construction was finished in a timely fashion. No complaints. David was wonderful to work with. He went the extra mile to help us whenever he could. Seeing that we live out of state we had a few questions and David answered them in a quick manner. 2 days prior to closing we walked the house with the construction manager and David spent the time to take us through the house and make sure everything was addressed. House was immaculate. No complaints. And if we had questions we had plenty of time to talk. That part was great and stress free. However.... What we have found frustrating is trying to get anyone to answer questions from the homeowners association after closing. Many of the questions we had could have / should have been addressed at closing. How do we handle association fees? Who do we talk to with questions? What is the "Q" app? Who handles the Q app? 14 emails and phone calls later we were forced to contact our sales agent and find out why no one picks up the phone or responds to emails. Let's not get started about association fees... We knew the amount. They were paid for the quarter at closing. We have received 3 letters stating our fees are behind and we are being charged late fees and interest. Phone calls and emails later with no one returning either again we were forced to contact sales agent. Let me state this. We love our new home. Couldn't be happier. It's beautiful. But unfortunately we have lost a lot of confidence with who is actually in charge of running the association. There's too many moving parts and no one seems to know what the other is doing or in our case not doing. It's been extremely frustrating and frankly a little scary. Many if not all of the questions /issues we had could have defiantly been addressed or handled at closing. And let's not talk about the Gate issues. Which is the only way to get to our home. No one person is responsible for any one thing and if they are no one is saying. Closing was a breeze. Very simple especially from out of state. Closing company awesome. Staff prompt in answering questions and actually returning phone calls and knowledgeable. I do have one suggestion. I do understand the reason why appliances are included in the sale. But...Purchaser should have the option to exclude them. We ended up donating our appliances and purchasing top of the line fridge,refrigerator, dishwasher and washer and dryer. We feel the appliances included were not up to the standard of the rest of our home. There's much more to be said. But space is limited. Cathy our sales agent is exceptional and awesome. David our construction manager should receive a gold star. He helped us more than he had to. These two people have made the purchase of our second home a wonderful experience. The process of getting the loan and the house was smooth, but some areas like painting, sealing electrical pipe connections, sealing under door and joining in corners and getting those little things was not given enough attention.

On my walkthrough, she showed me everything there was to show with explanations and examples so that I understood how my new home functions and how my appliances work.

There were a few glitches but there was always someone to help find a solution. Buying a home is stressful- especially if one is not in the area. That wasn’t a problem.

I am already having issues with the garage.

This company is competent and reliable.

We had a great experience purchasing our first home. The process was simple and the communication was awesome. I love the community we are in and the building plan on this community

Bought our house with Centex in June. The process and staff we worked with were great. They were very informative and helpful. Only issue we had was with the quality of workmanship primarily with the concrete work. First we had to have our entire pad walking up to the front door floated (lt is now a different color than my walkway up to the house and driveway) because the concrete was pooling with water and not level. It also had gouge marks in it from them using the backside of a hammer to break off mortar that had fallen and dried on it. The difference in color although not a big deal is frustrating when you pay $420,000 for a brand new house. The driveway also had many small holes and one the size of a baseball in it which again was fixed but looks a different color. The curb in front of our house was not lined up with the existing curb so there is about a 1” bump out in the curb connecting to our driveway from the rest of it. Lastly the 1” bump up going into the garage was chipped on the edge and we had to ask them to repair it. This agin does not look like the rest of the slab and noticeably stands out. It will inevitably fail aging as well since it’s right on the edge so that’s frustrating. Overall house is beautiful but concrete work is terrible. The finish on my 230,000 house in Savannah was much nicer than this one which is almost double the price. ... More

The construction manager, Ryan, was in constant contact with us letting us know where our house was, as we were out of state. Our inspector said the house was very well built, and we love it.

This is my first time buying a newly constructed home. I encountered sloppy workmanship and many issues such as a screw stuck in my garbage disposal, a window that wouldn't open and shut properly and a window that had a bent/broken screen, a leak in the irrigation system with a "continuous water usage" message from the city and a dead tree as a result, two door locks that didn't work with my key, window blinds are filthy with construction dust, the floor is spattered with paint in some places, the floor board caulking is marred in some places, a section of carpet is pieced in the wrong direction, gutters were packed with leaves/debris, water was not available in the first walk-through (builder hadn't paid the bill), water pressure in bath and kitchen on 2nd walk-through was a trickle, yard is a minefield of bumps and low points (grading is not smooth at all.) However, the builder was very quick on responding to the issues brought to their attention, and did place a second gate (their choice, I never asked for it) to gain easier, safer access the electric box and A/C unit. I'm still dealing with the dead tree issue, getting HOA violations because of it, builder won't replace it with other HOA-approved tree. In hindsight, I would be much more thorough and pickier before purchasing a home from Centex. ... More

Great great great great great

The house is good. Very disappointed with the quality of some of the material used.. Especially the quality of paint used. You used the cheapest paint possible. With what we paid for this house I expected better. We've had to deal with a double door going to outside that was not installed properly. Took three weeks to fix and the damage caused by fixing the door which resulted in flooring replaced and drywall and painting. But, it was fixed satisfactory.

Good and timely in a nice a nice location

My experience with Centex was better than most due to Kim & Travis. Kim, my sales person was exceptional. She was very professional & went out of her way to help me bring this to fruition. Travis, my point person for the building of the home went above and beyond to correct any issues with the home. He truly wanted us to be happy with our home. I would give them both 5 stars if that was an option. The reason "Trustworthiness" got only 1 star is because one of the sales supervisors for Sanctuary Cove tried to cancel my ratified contract prior to the expiration date of the contract which was quite shocking and upsetting. With regards to workmanship, It was disappointing to realize Centex does not finish the walls in the garage; and I don't mean painting. The homeowner has to first spackle & sand the seams to finish the walls if they want to paint the garage. Centex also disappointingly installs smaller interior doors than most builders and the quartz for the kitchen counter tops is very thin. They provide no towel bars, toilet paper holders and there are no knobs on the kitchen or bathroom cabinets. Most would not consider these things as "upgrades" but rather standard items. Centex also installs their sod right up to the house instead of leaving a "bed" area around the home between the sod/lawn and the foundation. Centex might consider either just increasing the price of the home a little and provide these things or at least offer them as an option to the homeowner at an additional cost. What will it be next; homeowners will have to provide their own light bulbs and door knobs? The pandemic is over, the supply chain issues are no longer so maybe it's time to go back to the days of offering home buyers some options without having to go the route of a custom home. ... More
