We thought it was going to be great experience buying our first home. Boy were we wrong. The roof structure had many boards that needed reinforcement as well as a hole in the roof barrier. Initial inspection passed until we had our own inspector come through and point out many issues. Builders urinated in our new bath tubs with no running water. A port-a-toilet was literally outside next to our house. Electrical fixtures were crooked throughout and had to be straightened. Front porch post is not at a right angle/squared to the house. Other homes companies do every thing right like before the closing I found too much issues in the paint and in the kitchen too

Builder focuses on speed over quality. Many lines were not straight, screw not drilled in all the way, misalignments on cabinets, paint overspray.

Make sure you keep an eye on them

The sales process was easy, but the construction team not so good. Im still finding things wrong with the house. I've been in the house for 2 months and still don't have some of the original issues fixed. Construction team is unresponsive now.

I have the biggest case of buyers remorse. Plastic faucets on a 245k house? Lawn is full of weeds. Builder does not respond in a timely manner. Cheap fixtures make me so sad. I had a history maker home that was much better quality and the builder was top notch. I am beyond sad about my home but feel stuck with it.

I’ve had some good experiences and terrible with this company building my new home. I had my original sales guy not keep me informed on flooring changes but Trent took over and he did great. He explained things and really seamed to care. Devon the building manager was great at first but as soon as I signed my closing. He would say he would fix things that weren’t finished by closing and it would take him forever. I am still waiting on a shower rod for my guest room that was bent and dented since before my blue tape walk through still haven’t gotten it.

The home is well made, but when it comes to the surrounding they rushed and did not do a complete job. There are many places where they rushed to get the home done. Also the outstide water draining systems are not to par.

Centex/Pulte Warranty department employees need a better understanding of their work ethics. We were instructed if there are any issues needing to be corrected call the warranty department. First there’s no human contact by phone to address the issues. Everything is to be listed by photo and described then emailed to the Warranty Dept. I did that for a few items that need to be corrected. I was then sent an email which I found to be very condensing advising me to wait 45 days so they could be corrected. Well I have a huge security issue with our back glass sliding door. The builder contractor ABS sent out 2 individuals on different occasions to correct the issues and both stated the issue isn’t the glass door( which doesn’t lock) the issue is with the Glass Door Frame! It’s been nearly 2 months since we’ve moved in and still the glass sliding door issue remains to be corrected. Does a person need to wait 45 days for their house to be secure. I’ve had to obtain a security system to protect my family. And BTW the list has grown for the 45 day repair. Not too happy for the amount we paid for the house. Warranty Dept needs better communication than doing things by email. Phone calls are a huge social distant approach. Workers should take pride in their tasks. ... More

Everything was smooth till after I did your survey and now it’s like pulling teeth . Still have things that need to be done that we’re addressed before closing and were never done . “Fixed”

Our experience with Centex was not a great one. A lot of options weren't available and we went through several different build managers. We were shown a model home and there were a lot of features in the model home and were not told that those feature would not be in our home. The main issues we had was with their in house underwriting department with a lot of communication errors.

This builder put too small of an AC unit on my home and we are having CONSTANT issues with it. The unit struggles just to keep the home at 75 degrees. Now we are having a lot of condensation and what appear to be mold either growing or about to start. They always send a tech out with Houck AC and they put a “bandaid” fix on it and tell me everything is running properly. Sure it’s running properly, but it’s too small for this home. I have 1800 sqft and a 2 ton ac unit, it’s just not cooling the home. Also I had an unpleasant conversation with a warranty manager where he pretty much told me “I get what I pay for” with my $300,000 home. Currently looking to make a report with BBB and TDLR. ... I have repeatedly had to request repairs on a sprinkler system that never worked right, broken heads, pipe busted in the ground leaking water, HUGE water bill, spoke with, emailed, wrote work orders 3X...and still NOT FIXED. I HAD TO PAY A $149 water bill this morning FOR JULY 15TH-AUGUST 15TH. The other orders, or complaints took forever to address as well. When we met before closing, we were assured that all items would be handled promptly. Someone keeps dropping the ball. It is hard to trust anyone at their word now.

Loved the design of this home the lavender, but looking back there were other builders workman ship was probably better. With spec homes I guess are the bottom of the bsrrel

Closing was little rush. Closing cost numbers were revealed just 1 hour before closing time. Promotional incentives like refrigerator is not as advertised. There were gutters installed to the model house. Unfortunately they are installed to my unit. This is my first purchase experience and I was not satisfied. I feel like I should have gone with MI homes in the same community. But it was late as I have already committed to centex

I recently purchased what is now my second centex home, the first one had very minor issues, but this recent purchase, which we closed on 10/27/2023 has been a major disaster. We were in the home less then 48 hours when we found out the builder never installed the clothes washer correctly which led to a major water issue into the walls. We further found out when warranty came to look that the tile had never been fully completed under the washer which allowed the water to escape and go from the second level to the first as the water leaked for over 24 hours unnoticed behind the unit into the walls. Further issues, punch list items which were promised to be rectified by the end of the closing weekend still haven't been corrected, our issued house keys, which we were asked not to use until the punch list was completed so workers could access the home, don't work and the only reason we found that out is because our power went out and blew the breaker when we plugged a single TV into a spare bedroom, which led to no power in multiple rooms, a bathroom, foyer, exterior, or garage for almost 3 days. Now about 20 minutes ago when I turned the light on in the master bedroom, the power again shorted out the home, and when I reset the breaker box sparks and flame shot out the switch and tripped the breaker again. No power once again. We have been in the home less than a month and nothing but problems and excuses. Not to mention other issues like the home the morning of walk through not having been cleaned and even when we moved in the next day, still not having been cleaned. Another issue is a trade did come to fix tile in master bath, and left a blood trail from the shower to the sink, and it permanently stained the shower, when we called we were told to use bleach, well it didn't work. 3vweeks in we have cracks in dry wall in garage corner connecting to concrete block. Have found nails and screws sticking through carpet. Paint splatter on bathroom tile floor and window that was never cleaned up. I will never recommend or build with this company again. I would love to know who inspected the home, because the multiple inspections the company completed were obviously rushed or over looked. The best line of all throughout this from the building supervisor "I don't have time to sit at your home and fix it because I have 20 other homes to complete." This evening over 30% of the home lost power again when circuits shorted out from turning hall lights on and no way to reset it since nobody from Centex or the electric company will not respond. It's always something with my new house sigh when you get them on the phone it's I'm so sorry for the inconvenience and still take weeks to fix the problem.

Home did not include any window trim- specifically stool and apron. This looks very unfinished and leaves the homebuyer with a big cost to cover to make their home look finished. No gutters on home. Additional cost to homebuyer. FLAT white paint on walls. Horrible. One week in the home we have scuffs everywhere. Who puts flat paint on main walls? Thin walls, we so clearly hear the neighbors outside speaking in a normal volume. 8’ ceilings downstairs looks cheap. Front door HORRIBLY painted looks so ugly. Door is cheap lightweight quality. We will need to replace. Another cost to us. General craftsmanship of the home is poor. Air leaks around doors. Cement in main plumbing line. Texture on walls inconsistent. When I was showed the show house, everything looked awesome. We would get all the same amenities, countertops, cabinets, and level of detail in our home. It was fine till a week before the closing and we were doing our “blue tape walkthrough” with our Construction Manager Justin. The whole house was covered in blue tape. You’d think I’d be exaggerating but for every wall there was at least 20 pieces of blue tape pointing to 20 different problems. It ranged from brand new appliances being scuffed and scratched up to drawers not even having the correct items to close. We also had one spot on the first floor that was a whole section of different flooring color. You could easily tell. There were staples also shooting through all carpeted areas, especially on the stairs, and paint on various pieces of carpet. When my brother in law began to bring up these issues, Justin talked over him and kept telling him he was wrong. Oh did we mention our inspector caught that the AC wasn’t cooling down the house? Justin says it’s within their 22 degree range and it’s fine. Turns out we have a 3 ton unit for 2 floors when two people live here that physically get extremely sick if it isn’t below 73 inside and out. I was feeling faint and nauseous by the time the walkthrough was over. I was feeling extremely upset and unsure about the work that was done. I wanted to back out. My family insisted that we could make this home our own. When we did our last walk through (at 9am in the morning after an hour and a half drive to get there) the house didn’t look any different except holes in the walls were fixed and the drawers now worked. There were still staples coming out of the stairs and there was still paint on the ground. I kicked up a fuss and Justin told me there was nothing they could do. Signing was fine, but when we moved in the following day, we found out they hadn’t cleaned. There was dust everywhere, we found nails and screws in the backyard (where my 16 month old nephew plays), and our driveway was all messed up from the big trucks coming and going. We have a giant chunk currently missing still. We also have a huge and serious bug infestation. Little roach looking bugs and ants everywhere! We literally signed for this house less than 24 hours prior! Justin told us they cleaned! We’ve been battling them every since. I have been doing pest control as we want to find a good company. Oh yes there is still staples and nails on the stairs. My bathtub is scuffed. I start to feel really bad about signing on this over priced pile of staples and nails. 2 weeks later - the house is falling apart. 2 of the shower curtain rods spontaneously fell down. Thankfully one of them was when no one was there. The other though almost hit my nephew in the head, if not for my sister putting her hand there to block the way. We had to take her to urgent care because it felt broken when my dad (who is a registered EMT) was examining it thoroughly between her screaming her head off. Thankfully it was just severely brushed and had indented her hand pretty bad. To this day touching her hand there makes her wince. No idea how long it’ll take but imagine if that was a toddler!!! They just put in tension rods. Not legit rods at all!! I could get these from Walmart for $15!!! Justin says we can text him if we need stuff fixed. All of us text him and he never answers. He gets transferred to Conroe sometime next week. The bathrooms in both levels are starting to have pealing problems with the flooring behind the toilet and bug problems! Even if we bug bombed the house it wouldn’t be enough. We were cleaning the house, trying to get rid of bugs when we pulled out the bottom drawer from the over and found stuff from the builders under there! Also, the flooring underneath is warped and touching the bottom of the stove!!!! You know what my customer service manager named “Megan” told me? “I have the same house of you and my flooring isn’t warped”. Okay Megan. That’s your house, not mine! That same day I put in a ticket for fixing the flooring, a piece of the crown molding from the upper cabinets came apart and fell down. It actually hit me in the arm as I was trying to clean up something on the counter. After putting in the ticket and Megan calling me back, she tells me that they only work till 5pm. Well great! I’m off at 3:15 and can get home by 3:30. We can meet then and go over the house stuff. She tells me that won’t work for her because she is already off work by then and will have to do something called a “Tele Link” I believe. Wait so you work till 5 but can’t drive 10 minutes to a house at 3:30 to just go over the issues? Sure. She never calls me back when I try to reschedule due to emergency doctors appointments. THEN she calls me the day of, AN HOUR LATE, and tries to start the Tele Link. She says it was an emergency but she at least could’ve texted as she has done so before. I work two jobs and my second one starts at 5pm. I tell her she’ll have to call me back on Wednesday or sometime through Thursday or Friday. She tells me “oh 5pm Wednesday”. 5pm rolls around. Guess when she calls? 5:44!! Seriously!! That’s so freaking unprofessional. She also talks to me like I’m a child, an idiot, and that I know nothing. This is my 3rd house. I know this process. She demands that I be home for the work to happen, even though I’m a teacher and have limited days off. When she initially tried to schedule the appointment, I told her “I have to do anytime after 3:30pm”. She comes back with “Okay so Tuesday at 9:30am?” She didn’t listen either just like Justin. This whole house was built with bad materials, with people who obviously don’t care about quality, or taking care of someone else’s home, and after you buy it good luck!! You’re stuck with this shoddy house with lacking customer service AND promises that were broken. I will NEVER buy a Pulte/Centex home ever again!!! ... More

I really didn't want to write this, but this has truly been a very bad experience with this home purchase. I have come to realize that big business is bad business all the way around. That includes Centex reps and their perspective contractors. Have a good day.

Trevor( our project manager) has promised to resolve issues upon closing that are still happening. Afterwards he said to deal with the insurance. Make sure you don’t close until everything looks great or be ready to deal with these types of issues.

Centex was horrible to work with. Not putting customers 1st. Houses have tons of issues. And warranty is a pain to submit and vendors refuse to work with customer unless work order is sent from centex.

Very poor experience as well as home not up to expectations..
