Centex Homes - I love my home but I do not like the paint used.

I love my home but I do not like the paint used. Basically I will need to repaint the entire place. You can't clean the walls or doors because the paint is so cheap. Also beware of the sprinkler system. My 1st water bill was $379!

Basic entry level homes - both in terms of quality of workmanship and materials.

Not a quality, sturdy, solid build that lasts 100yrs. Entry level quality with entry level materials. Other than that, construction team is excellent. Responds to each request promptly and takes care of it.

Centex Homes - The buying experience was good but everything went down hill
- Anush S.

The buying experience was good but everything went down hill once I closed on the home. No cable box on my street due to which I have not been able to get an internet connection since I closed in the end of December. The drains in all the toilets started clogging and bubbling up. Right from the contractor to the customer service no one has been of any help even after several phone calls or texts. Please do not buy a Centex home

Michael was a great construction manager, Sam was an awesome Salesperson, other than that the experience was very stressful we had one issue after another and they took 4 extra months to finish our home, our house has several issues (not serious, but still) overall after moving we are happy with our house, and the neighborhood.

I ended up liking the end result, but getting there was barely worth it. it took almost a year from signing the initial contract to close. The sales people are completely clueless and will just say things they think you want to hear. I went in for a scheduled appointment more than once and they didn't remember who I was or why I was there and even pulled up the wrong account. I had to ask about closing weekly. the contract said July and I didn't close until almost September. half the time my emails were completely ignored. I was not even given an idea to plan about when to end my current ...

I was surprised and very disappointed to find that ceiling fans and a garage door opener were not standard for my home. I’ve never heard of a new home build that does it include a garage door system. Such an easy thing to complete.

I periodically dropped in, to see the construction progress on my house. Claudia, in the sales office, was incredible. She provided me with weekly updates. It was truly amazing to watch the house come together. However I did find some disturbing issues that caused my trust to fail. At one point, I found a lot of alcohol containers, scattered in the house. Food debris was also tossed onto new cement foundation, inside of the house, some greasy or oily meat products, oily chips, etc. I felt this could draw bugs. Another issue was right before close, I found people apparently living in the ...

I don’t normally write reviews, but I felt I should for this experience. As a first time home buyer, I didn’t know what to expect. I would visit my home every couple of weeks to check the progress and in doing so I noticed some things. First, there was a bottle of pee in one of the bedrooms that spilled over before the carpet was put in. So who knows if it was cleaned properly. Second, there was toilet paper in the guest bathroom as if they were using the toilets instead of the portable restroom right outside my home. As we expressed our concerns during the walk through, we received a ...

The only complaint I have is that the sub floor upstairs is not flat! When we walk upstairs, we feel the imperfections beneath our feet. We raised the issue a few times but were told this is as good as it gets!

Centex Homes - Make sure to communicate with the sales representative and super

Make sure to communicate with the sales representative and super intendent and be thorough with all questions. Educating yourself and making sure to ask questions is crucial. There are a lot of moving parts with several contractors so their internal process isn't streamlined the best. You just need to make sure you stay on top of it.

The biggest issues we had while buying the house was that there was 2 times our loan got suspended and no one ever contacted us which pushed our closing date out an additional month. I had to call and check up on our loan because it went silent for a couple weeks and then was told, “oh well, you’re loan went suspended. It happens another time after that. I will say that towards the end of the actual time we closed, I know the lenders were working very hard to make it happen.

Add 1 month to the estimated closing date they give you, and make sure you hire a 3rd party inspector because there will be shortcuts found that need to be addressed

Good, not great

Overall, we enjoy our Centex home. It is our fist home purchase and so we were a little less picky, and the market in our area is extremely competitive, with the costs of homes going through the roof. The home seems to be build well generally. But all of the details were clearly rushed. The detailed paint job we sloppy, the landscaping wasn't great. But none of the issues so far have been irreversible. And considering the market, the price point was desirable. So overall, it is a good house, not a great house.

Centex Homes - Going only by our experience, a home buyer needs to be diligent
- Lillian I.

Going only by our experience, a home buyer needs to be diligent in following up with the builder’s field managers to ensure that the quality and construction of the new home is as perfect as the builder promised it would be at the time of purchase. We thought we did that and unfortunately it didn’t work out for us anyway. Moving into a new home is supposed to be a joyous experience, but for us it wasn’t because the builder did not fulfill the expected standards.

Sometimes the builder would lack communication. The builder didn't fix certain issues before we moved in and we had to get them to fix it after. They fixed the issues but then didn't repaint or even provide us with paint to match the fixed spot with the rest of the wall. This to me was fixing the issues 1/2 way. The value of the home for what we paid is exceptional.
