If you’re looking to build a home the experience can be fun and enjoyable just not with this particular builder centex/Pulte from What I experienced I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Everything from the lending to the building was horrific what they produce is not quality work with integrity.

This process was extremely difficult. Still have issues with home 2 months after living in it. I’m very disappointed in centex. I choose centex because of the pulte brand and due to home cost. Being a pulte brand I expected a lot more. The cost of the home is literally the only thing that kept me interested in purchasing a home with centex.

During the build process, I did not think it would be as rough as it was. Going through four field managers was not necessary. Having to update them weekly on issues, keep repeating issues each week. The lack of responsiveness to issues was unbelievable. If client points out a problem, I would think it would be fixed at that stage and not months later. Or just let slip by as if it was never brought up. Also trades not caring about other trades work, which is normal but it was prominent. I was not able to receive a straight answer from multiple people. Each person would give me a different answer every time. There was a large lack of communication between the Dallas Office and Colorado Office. Not all of it was bad, the salesman Don was great to work with. He was friendly, straight forward with everything and overall easy to work with. Another person out of Dallas office was able to provide me more information that was helpful than the people actually on my house. The house is done and I have lived in it over a month. We are loving our Centex home and the team was great! They had no problem making sure we got answers to all of our questions!

Centex Homes really helped me to get the home I wanted. They were there for any questions and any issue that arose in the buying process. The thing I liked about them the most was that they seemed to really care, and that they really wanted me to get the home so I could become a homeowner.

After I moved in I a had a few minor issues and it took weeks for someone to contact after I reached out numerous times.

A simple home that I was looking for with reasonable price in a good area. The home I purchased doesn't have a lot of extra's to increase your cost of the home.

Beware of the backyard. Pulte/cemtex did not level the back yard before they put down the sod. The backyard has very deep dips.

Very Comfortable Process

Everything is good

Generally speaking, the building process was very quick. Communication from the builder was usually good. The main issues we encountered was that the builder would provide a date of when XYZ would be installed to the home but then it rarely happened according to their timeline. Of course exterior items are weather permitting which we understood, but often times it was interior items and the weather had been fine. The builder that was over our home often gave what we considered a "non answer" or the run around when we asked if specific items in our home could be tweaked (i.e. very slight change in location of light fixture that ultimately was never actually done). We visited multiple homes under construction that were our same model that we chose to build and were familiar with what to expect. We noticed some homes included electrical outlets in the master closet but during the build of our home there was not one. When asked about this, our building manager explained that the workers don't always work the exact same way and utilize skills carried with them from various other home builders. While we decided not to argue about the installation of something as simple as an electrical outlet, we did not find this reasoning to be satisfactory. Every home should be built the exact same way. Upon moving into our home, we noticed LOTS of trash scattered in our backyard that which included sharp blades and nails everywhere. We have dogs and before we were able to allow them to use the yard we had to spend a good amount of time to clean up all the debris which we were not at all happy about. A home buyer who just spent several hundred thousand dollars should never have to do that. We picked up 3 full grocery sacks worth of metal and debris, some of which was simply covered up by a layer of sod. This is dangerous! What if other homes with children experienced this and were injured? We felt this was entirely lazy and inconsiderate of the construction crew and the builder for not ensuring this was properly taken care of. Otherwise, we were happy with the sales of the home, the majority of the building process was smooth and enjoyable and of course we love our new home. Now... we just have to submit a claim for our non-working disposal (we have been here 1 month and we have hardly used it... YIKES). ... More

The beginning of the buying and building process was super slow. There wasn’t any info to be given as we intentionally chose a lot that wouldn’t be started on for about 3-4 months so that wasn’t a problem at all. During the build, we did have a lot of changes at first to the construction manager, but after our 3rd and final person, I was relieved! Juan was the best. Super quick with response and informative and genuinely cared. Kept us in the loop all the time. Great follow up. Our sales lady, Monica was great too. Helped me go through all my options and questions in the very beginning and gave her professional opinion, while also being practical as I’m a first time new mom and first time home buyer. She also followed up very quickly. My only complaint was the lack of info and follow up from the mortgage company. I used the Pulte group mortgage company. There was a lot of unnecessary stress put on me at the last minute, rather than guiding and informing me during the process. It ended up being resolved and I was satisfied in the end, but not with out lots of headache and fighting. Overall, my first time buying experience was good. I’d definitely do it over again with Juan and Monica, but maybe next house I’ll get a different lender! I recommend this neighborhood and builder frequently! Thanks Centex and Pulte ... More

Great value for the house we had built!

I came for my final walkthrough and there were a number of obvious things that should have been addressed if someone would have taken the time to just look. I feel the house should have been show ready at our final walkthrough and it was not.

My overall experience with Centex Homes has been wounderful. I would receommend them to anyone who is looking to purchase a new home.

Have a 4 foot crack in the ceiling. I've contacted the builder rep and the sales manager is aware. The crack appeared on 11-15-19 it is now 12-11-19 and still no one has came by to look at to get it repaired.

My wife and I were so happy to have gotten a brand new home. That is, until a week after we moved in. We'd found smudges on our paint, the builders had used our microwave during construction and didn't clean it, the painters left a pile of trash painting paper crammed under the oven, carpet nails protruded up enough to stab both of our feet when we walked barefoot, the glass shower door collides with the bathroom doorknob, indoor paint was used to paint the entire exterior back porch wall, the garage door had peeling paint(and when it was finally repainted, they painted it shut), several cracked tiles in the kitchen, countertops were sharp-edged(and actually cut my wife's arm), trim and molding was improperly installed, the underside of EVERY windowsill was unpainted, the master bedroom window leaks when it rains, and the twelve page list goes on. When we addressed these issues with the builders, we got a number of fun responses, like, "the carpet nails are supposed to be that way," "I don't know why it's doing that," "oh that's not us, that's the window people" (and when the window people came, "oh that's not us, that's the builders"), and when told that this shoddy workmanship is unacceptable, "you have the right to feel that way, but we take pride in our work." Wrong, sir. You take pride in cutting corners to save time and money. If you took pride in your work, this house wouldn't require major repairs by day 14. If my wife and I wanted to buy a fixer-upper, we wouldn't have shelled out $214k for it. We wanted a brand new house that looks and acts like a brand new house, and your pride failed to deliver. Anyway, after a few weeks of my wife relentlessly keeping on them, and after a few weeks of siccing our awesome real estate agent on them, they've been slowly and begrudgingly repairing things. We've had to practically supervise them in their work, however, because they'll try to cut corners even on their repairs and pull the wool over your eyes, if they can. A few days ago, we found that the leaky master bedroom window sill is now spongy, and moves if we press on it, undoubtedly as a result of water damage from rain leaking in. Summary: it has been a most unpleasant experience, the realization that our new home isn't a quality new home, dealing with Pulte, and having to fight tooth and nail to get them to do their job and do it right. Oh, I nearly forgot my favorite lie they tried to feed my wife: Construction supervisor: "This is the first time we've had these kind of problems. Your neighbors didn't have any issues." My wife: "Really? That's strange, because when I told them about our problems, they said, 'we've had the same problems, too!'" ... More
