Great value for the price!

I got a great price per square foot on a new home in Elley Crossing. Unfortunately, I'm finding out you get what you pay for. I experienced several quality control issues that, for the most part, they're willing to address. But it can be a bit of a hassle to see these issues through. I still have some pending. Also, all lighting fixtures and bathroom finishings used in my home were very basic. But that could be why I got such a good price. The paint quality could be better too, and my yards are still an unleveled mess, but overall, I still feel like I got a good deal. Maybe I should be asked ...

We have a scheduled closing date but when we arrive we were told that it was change which wasted our time. Also, they keep changing the dates coz meter still not installed. We ended up paying extra cash on the date we close which was unsatisfactory.

Zach, the builder was very kind, always pleasant, helpful and responsive

My only discontentment was, the counter for the kitchen was not same as the bathroom counters and the selection of styles/design were very limited. Therefore, the materials for the bathrooms such as the counters, shower wall boards, faucets, and light switch for the entire house are very basic and plain. I'm not sure if Centex offers a modern interior material as I wasn't asked. But I should have also requested for an upgraded selection of styles and design of materials.

Process was smooth and easy. Team members were helpful and walked me through the process. After moving in I am seeing low quality work specifically with the carpet, paint/caulk, drywall, and some woodwork.

Biggest issue is the walls, crown molding, and base boards aren't all straight. There's also sloppy finishing work like caulking and paint

It was good in the beginning

The over all purchase was easy and seamless. They stayed in contact the entire time. There were a few issues that were found and micheal the project manager did help me. But the backyard was left a mess with trash from the builders. The grass that was placed in the front yard is patchy because the landscapers brought dead grass. I watered as much as I was supposed to. And paid someone to come flatten it so it would actually grow. There was no effort out in with that grass. Everything else was pretty good. It’s a good home overall.

It seems in comparison to other new builds in the area, the house size/location is competitive but not the materials for the pricepoint. They cut corners in the finished product. I hope the 1-year warranty covers the finishing touches that were not done well. However, they did work with me and made closing dates very very flexible and were extremely communicative.

Disappointed

I was most upset that as the newer homes are being built, less options / upgrades are offered. I mean, seriously, how hard would it have been to put the plumbing in for the water softener? Why was this totally deleted? Now to have this done properly will be an additional $1000 that could have been done cheaper as in previous houses. Why were the brick and stone upgrades deleted? You can see the difference through the neighborhood - and, my house cost $60,000 more. Bad decisions by Centex management.

This subdivision has three developers, ashton woods, pulte, and centex (centex owned by pulte) Centex is the 'lowest' grade of these three builders. Quality is good and house has great bones/structure. Where centex missed on the build is the quality of the craftsmanship. Paint blotchiness, tiled grout in globs, floor trim not in alignment. All minor cosmetic items but when paying $$$$ quality should still be an area of importance.

Centex Homes - I don’t have any complaints about the process of having the home

I don’t have any complaints about the process of having the home built but I do feel like we were treated like a dime a dozen with the closing process and when we listed some issues at closing that needed to be taken care of, they weren’t. We said that dirt needed to be brought in to fill holes in the fence, never happened. We had to buy our own dirt. We listed dead grass and were told they’d come in and replace them, never happened. We’ve had to buy fertilizer and hope that saved some of the dead grass. It’s just sad that the customer service doesn’t really stick once you’ve signed the ...

All staff have been very nice. I find the craftsmanship of the home to be lacking. It’s the fine details. My ceiling is crooked. The exhaust vents in the bathrooms were installed very loose. The chalking all around the house just looks like a child laid it. The flooring adhesive is all over the place. There’s more but I’m done for now.

Awesome Centex Staff, but poor quality of sub contractors

We purchased a home that was already close to being finished so our experience is only on the back end. The staff as a whole are very good, friendly, and supportive. However the sub contractors they use to build their homes is poor; contractors they hire do not take pride in their work and it shows everywhere in the home. I understand it's a business so they try to find the cheapest contractor, but at some point there needs to be some venting for QA as the price we pay should reflect the quality of work which due to the people the hire to build the homes isn't there. Once again the staff is ...

Overall good experience but not very pleased with the overall finishing of the house

I was very pleased with overall home buying experience from sales to construction managers explaining everything in detail for the first time home buying experience. As we did the first walk through and now living in the house, there is a lot of spot where the finishing is not satisfactory overall but I will be filling work order soon to fix some of them. I would rate 3/5 for house itself and 4.5/5 for the buying experience.

Overall the experience was ok. Quality of the materials used was poor. Also the whole house inside was painted with a flat paint not a semi gloss. We had to repaint the whole house. We have been in the house a little over a month and the fence is falling apart. Not good

The sales process was outstanding and both the sales representative and construction manager were friendly, efficient and responsive. I love the home and the neighborhood. The customer service after the sale has been anything but good. I had a major plumbing issue almost immediately after move in. My yard was dug up and almost 3 weeks later it is still a wreck and I can't get anyone from the customer service department to communicate with me as to when the landscaping will be repaired.

I have been in my home about a month and a half. The appliances came with it. Every time I use the dryer the breaker trips. I put in a service request and an electrical company called to tell me they can’t come til the 23rd of the month. So I am left with a new home with new appliances and I will have to got to the washeteria for the next to weeks. Totall UNACCEPTABLE, I am so upset and disappointed

The quality of the house is NOT close to the Centex Home I bought 20 years ago. The walls are not straight, kick boards look like snakes. Even after three walk throughs, I still find walls are not straight up. So I gave up pointing out the problems. I can show you the issues. My address is 5818 Artcurus, San Antonio, TX 78218. I bought this Pulte Home because of the solid house I bought from Centex/Pulte in Retama Park in 2003. The workmanship back then was great, I had no problems at all for the entire 8 years I lived in it. Because of that experience, I decided to buy this house ...

Centex Homes - Home building experience was good but there are significant delays

Home building experience was good but there are significant delays due to improper planning. There is last minute rush to complete things which impqcted quality in few places. Field manager is not at all responsive for the items identified as pending in the closing. Still have few items that need to be fixed.
