Centex is a decent track home builder. We loved working with Melissa in the sales office. Brett the superintendent was nice and helpful. It was a little disconcerting that he didn't have the items from our home inspection fixed before our walk, but it appears he was able to get them fixed before we closed. Overall we love our new home; however, using their lender was a total nightmare! Don't let them talk you into, or let them pressure you into using their lender. Pulte Mortgage is horrible!!! We started the process to buy our home in July of 2020 and was told that we would be able to close by the end of march or early April of 2021. We finally closed June 26, 2021. I do understand the situation with Covid and the delays that it caused. But we witnessed other houses of our same model starting after ours being completed before ours. Our house would sit with no work being done for 2-3 weeks at a time. Also, when the work was done, it was very poor quality which had to be corrected at a later time. Poor communication and expectation management

This company is large and divided into multiple departments. Because of this, and poor communication, many items were overlooked and never discussed. We didn’t find out many things were “missing” from our home until the final walk-through when it was too late to change. We were very disappointed and now out of pocket thousands of dollars to make these necessary adjustments.

Loan approval nightmare

The loan process literally took until the week before I moved in which was 2 months after my application. I understand processes take a while, but better communication and site updating would be great. Waiting last minute like that ended up costing more to move then if I had a couple weeks to prepare. The process was stressful, loan process was a mess. Title work wasn’t even sent to title agent on day of closing. Trash, nails/bolts and weeds left under sod. Sod was dead writhing 48 hours. Thing that were suppose to be fixed, not fixed. Felt builder didn’t care once paperwork was signed.

Low quality shower doors. Rocks all over the area that were never removed, left over wires and trash under the sod.. The Sod can’t grow from all the rocks and materials underneath. Low quality shower doors which both have broken. Counter tops and back splash very low quality. That’s just some of the standards used.. Supervisor inspector did his best for the time and materials given from Sales and management.

As a first time home owner the experience was not great. Not only with the constant delays but also with the materials. With what I picked to the cabinets and floors to having to get something else because they no longer had the products. With the floors they put carpet in the wrong area therefore when it came time to place the vinyl they no longer had the material. There was also a crack in the cabinet which they just tried painting it to fix it. Also, after closing there was a number of issues. The house is great but more care should go into the actual homeowner experience. The floor plans need slight adjustment and there was no thought on this location with the warehouse, street and train all so close. Really needs a thicker wall around the perimeter. It makes living here very untenable.

Too Much following up on all fronts!

Pulte Homes sells you on the pricing and incentives for the new home build. However, once you are hooked into the process, their lack of communication, disorganization and not meeting timelines was more than a new buyer should handle. Plenty of Issues even BEFORE closing

I should have walked away even before closing on home. Mario (the builder contact) is a joke and not take your issues seriously, even lies. His mgr. Kenny allows this to happen obviously. The warranty shop has been responsive to my issues. Rebecca is now back in the picture from maternity leave and now attempting to clean up the mess I’ve had. I’ve submitted many work orders to be completed and I just closed on home 02/16. I’m hoping that everyone doesn’t have an experience like this. Not what I expected for a big purchase and new construction home!

Overcharging for houses that don’t have fans or garage door openers. Then telling me by not putting fans and garage door opener that I’m somehow saving money which is not at all.

customer service not helpful. they promise to get back to you but they never do. Very quick to use or say 'not under warrantly' as a safety blanket, without waiting to listen to what the concern are. My construction manager cody was the only good thing that happened during the buying process. The sod(grass) is no good at all and is not covered in the warrantly. I am just learning to adapt to the new home and having no help from customer service.

It isn’t a good time to have a house built right now. Hard to find skilled labor who cares about their product. Unskilled labor is getting the jobs moved forward at the homeowners expense. Doesn’t seem like anyone cares about their BRAND. Check out the Facebook posts of the neighborhood you are buying in—I may have gone with another builder if I had. If you can wait to build and let the frenzy pass, I would.

Once we got people from Centex that were higher up the chain our home the whole process improved. But overall it was not a very good experience. Example: the entire sewer system was left unattached to the main line. Had we not caught it w our home inspector it wouldve been left that way!!!!

The quality of materials used and the workmanship get a one star. The cabinetry, flooring, carpets, fencing, and landscaping are of terrible quality. The electrical panel is a 15/20 so I cannot have the lights on and vacuum at the same time without popping the panel. The same thing happens when I have the lights on and want to use several appliances at once in the kitchen such as an air fryer and rice cooker, the panel pops multiple times. We had to delay closing multiple times due to incomplete or substandard workmanship. When the project manager was contacted with a list, it was documented, but little or nothing done within a reasonable timeframe. One incident was a crooked wall running at roughly a 25 degree angle, the response was "it doesn't look that bad". It was eventually "repaired", but now the drywall tape was worked loose and is protruding. Have been in the house for almost two full months and the power washing has still not been completed.

Prime Example of Deceptive Marketing at Work

Quality of materials used is horrible. I have cracking of interior paint on my walls throughout the home. Mixing valve in my master shower was faulty, therefore there was no cold water to the shower. Only scalding hot water. First week into the home and already had a massive hole in my master bedroom wall to have the shower mixing valve replaced. Gaps in the exterior siding is not caulked. The foundation and materials used to build the house were builder grade but I hope everything was done at least up to code for anything our inspector couldn’t see. As far as the quality of the work we can see, it is very poor. There is not a single room, door, trim, cabinet, or wall that doesnt have a mistake.
