The builders lender quoted a competitive interest rate before we signed the contract and then the rate was 1.5 points higher when we were ready to lock (3 days later). We told them we were backing out and somehow the rate came down a full point. Throughout the process the lender representatives spelled our names incorrectly (different ways each time) and sent emails with required information to the wrong email addresses. Thank goodness they somehow got our realtor's email address correct, or we would still be waiting to get information from them. While at closing, the lender called the title ...

Love my home but bad experience working with century

It took almost 4 months to get into my new home from the original close date. Not only this but we were made homeless for a full month over the holidays because of their complete lack of communication. And once we finally got into our new home, so many things needed to be fixed. Overall it was a very bad first home buying experience with Century, but am very happy to be in my new home

I closed the house on Jan 29th, first issue arose when the pipe behind the bathroom shower burst flooding the basement and closets. The bathroom tiles 2 of them have been taken out and the carpet removed. Literally it is more than a month now and I have not been able to use the shower. The customer experience is very bad the maintenance crew never show up on time and they block the whole day just to stay at home for them cancelling all my appointments. They never update / give courtesy calls , if i reach out to the warranty team they hit back at me asking not to call them and are very rude. ...

It was not a great experience. There have been so many issues with plumping and HVAC since moving in. Although they are responsive to requests, it should not have been an issue in the first place. Spending so much time trying to get things fixed!

Absolute lack of desire to resolve issues when they were presented.

There was a bit of a bait and switch on the pricing. The sell sheet, we were issued on a house, the sales person had written down. Once we began the contract process a new price appeared and had to be renegotiated. There was an area of the floor which felt like you were walking up hill. The difference was 5/8 of an inch drop over 4 feet. After having several contractors stop by, they decided that although this was an issue of seating of the joist on the foundation wall, they were just going to grind down the subfloor to resolve it. The contractor came and took out an 1/8, which did not ...

Lower your expectations

Lower your expectations. Houses are built based on speed not quality. Floors and uneven, walls aren’t straight, paint drips and missed spots everywhere, gaps in all finishes. Warranty items are only responded to if you state “water is leaking”.

Century Communities - We had many many problems throughout the build process.

We had many many problems throughout the build process. Our salesman was pretty unresponsive to emails. We had multiple things not finished before closing, and the only reason I closed was because we'd lose $10K if we didn't. We still have an issue with our roof that I pointed out to them at least 4 months before close. The area manager told me they would fix it, but here we are 4 months post-close, and the issue still remains. Overall, a horrible process and will absolutely never build a home with Century Communities again.

Century forced closing on house purchase before house was completed and has failed to complete punchlist items for 3 1/2 months and counting.

Century applied an arbitrary lot premium to the purchase price which was significantly higher than purchase price of adjacent lots and would not adjust the purchase price after the price of adjacent lots was discovered through search of public records. The date of closing was unilaterally scheduled before the house was completed and there are outstanding punchlist items that still have not been completed 3 1/2 months after closing. Numerous cosmetic repairs were required after closing and took multiple appointments to complete. Countertops were damaged during construction and have not been ...

Century Communities responded:
Keith- We applogise for any delay with getting those things taken care of. Please submit a work order through our porthole at www.centurycommunities.com their is a tab at the top for homeowners.

I do not have many good things to say about the experience with this builder. The entire process from start to finish was extremely stressful. I had to micro manage each piece of the process to ensure details were not missed, and an accurate job was done. Even after closing, I am experiencing issues with the title company under the Century Communities umbrella. From the beginning, it was difficult to get under contract with Century. Even after going under contract, there were numerous issues that came up even before excavation began. Those troubles, and other issues came up throughout ...

Century Communities - It's been a bad experience, have so many issues with the house

It's been a bad experience, have so many issues with the house and after repeatedly sending messages to the folks who are responsible for the warranty work, no one has contacted me. I am very disappointed with this builder, i can only hope that this degraded way of working is because of covid.

Century Communities responded:
Vineeta- Yes, COVID has made things very difficult. Century has been working through the back log of requests that were on hold for a few months. We will contact the division on your behalf
