Honestly, the home buying experience was a disaster. Jimmy was so hard to get ahold of, and wasn’t always true to his word. At some point he blocked my phone number even though we have been waiting for a refund from them from another problem earlier on. Before we closed we had our third party trusted inspector go out to inspect the house on their request claiming that the house was done, it was not ready. This happened 3 times and we had to pay out of our pocket the return fees. We were told by Jimmy that we would be getting a refund for that because the fault was on them. Still waiting for ...

Love my home but bad experience working with century

It took almost 4 months to get into my new home from the original close date. Not only this but we were made homeless for a full month over the holidays because of their complete lack of communication. And once we finally got into our new home, so many things needed to be fixed. Overall it was a very bad first home buying experience with Century, but am very happy to be in my new home

Avoid Century Communities properties at all costs! Issue after issue. Homes are not completely finished by closing and lots of subcontractors have to keep coming in your home to do things that should have been done pre-close.

Check everything if they are actually working at the time of walk thru. My tub was not set in correctly and it moved when I shake it back and forth. The caulking was open around the tub , and not usable for 4 months now. I'm still waiting for Century to come out the second time to fix the tub.

Century Communities responded:
Your customer relations manager, Joel, is working with the plumber to remove the tub and completely reset it because the previous attempt was not successful. We aim to provide you peace of mind afforded by your warranty. We'll make it right.

Century Communities - I do not have many good things to say about the experience with

I do not have many good things to say about the experience with this builder. The entire process from start to finish was extremely stressful. I had to micro manage each piece of the process to ensure details were not missed, and an accurate job was done. Even after closing, I am experiencing issues with the title company under the Century Communities umbrella. From the beginning, it was difficult to get under contract with Century. Even after going under contract, there were numerous issues that came up even before excavation began. Those troubles, and other issues came up throughout ...

Century --- disappointing

I’m part way through my 4th month of owning my first home. Meeting my neighbors and sharing stories – some of them horror about our brand new homes. I think I’ve faired a bit better than some, but overall I have decided the quality of the home is not worth the money I paid for it. It’s become very clear to me the reason my house was ready 1.5 months earlier than anticipated --- it was a poor construction job with poor and cheap materials – it was rushed! I’ve submitted many service requests to fix some of my issues and will be submitting many more. I am trying to be patient with my place ...

We have lots to learn from your experience and will be discussing this with the whole team. We are aware as of now Cortny has addressed your concerns and all your items are closed. Sales process was great. Quality of home is fine. However, the weekend prior to closing Century failed to secure our home, and subcontractors used our home as a break room. Due to work boots, Sheetrock mud, etcetera, our hardwoods were destroyed. We’re almost 4 months out now and century still hasn’t done the right thing and replaced them, even though their representatives agree that needs to happen. We have other issues as well. After sale, even though people are “nice” nothing seems to get accomplished. We’re extremely sad to say that we can not recommend Century due to post sale issues.

Century Communities responded:
Heather- thank you for your candid response. We have notified the team/division. With the pandemic (COVID19) we understand scheduling trades and timely responses have been a challenge. We are working diligently through the work orders that have come in since March even when we couldn't schedule anything because of state and federal mandates at the time.

Awful experience. We drove 11 hours and house was not ready to close. Inside needed a ton of work, there was a dumpster and backhoe on the front lawn, looked like a pig sty when we drove up, wife was crying, I don’t even want to discuss it anymore because it aggravates me.

As home building has become a day laborers occupation, the former craftsman is now a dinosaur in the industry. With the need for rapid closing times, and completion rates, the industry as a whole has adopted a standard of per-fabricated faux material, and lower overall costs; they, the industry, willing sacrifices quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail. The only people that suffer from this model are the homeowners. The reality is that most homeowners don't even realize they suffer from the effects of this business model as the awe and shock of ownership is very appealing, As a ...

You have to watch Century very closely, we have been in the house for 3 mos and still have not had final items that were supposed to be done within 2 weeks of closing. During the construction time we continuously found errors and had to report them to get them corrected. The lack of attention to detail was a challenge to us.

They were not flexible with options even when I wanted to replace one option with other and pay more. Every time I asked for something, I was given a threat that other people are ready to buy it. They changed date a couple of times, which was a nightmare since I already committed to sell my previous place. I was given the home with lot of issues and dirty garage. Maintenance team is not answering and I have most of those issue pending.

This experience has been an absolute nightmare. From the builders not following the plans to just plain leaving things unfinished. They have made all kinds of promises that have not been followed up. When we walked the house on the day of closing they forced us to sign off on the house even though it was not finished and had many problems that needed to be addressed. They threatened that if we did not sign off on the condition of the house we would not be allowed to close and would possibly lose the house and our deposit. We have lived here for 4 months and still our home is not finished even ...

There was a bit of a bait and switch on the pricing. The sell sheet, we were issued on a house, the sales person had written down. Once we began the contract process a new price appeared and had to be renegotiated. There was an area of the floor which felt like you were walking up hill. The difference was 5/8 of an inch drop over 4 feet. After having several contractors stop by, they decided that although this was an issue of seating of the joist on the foundation wall, they were just going to grind down the subfloor to resolve it. The contractor came and took out an 1/8, which did not ...

As being a first time home buyer and being able to up grade and build my home just how I envisioned for my family at the start and through out the build was very exciting. Until I did my walk through I was very shocked on how many things were left undone or not finish from cut out in the dry wall to doors not being painted, which after the walk through the superintendent had 5 days to complete or fix due to the closing date 12/28/2020.
