Worst Home Buying Experience

As a first time home buyer i would have never imagined that this would have been such a stressful process from day one i moved into our home it has been nothing but problems & we've been in the house for about 3 months now either something wasn't done right or it was done very poorly. i feel with this builder all they care about is closing on the home and getting there money and if there's are done wrong they either tell you "that's how it is" or there's nothing that can be done and expect you to just say OK and that's it. Price wise for the homes are good & decent but the poor workmanship ...

There is no pride in workmanship anymore. If I had to do it over again, I would pass.

We paid hard earned money for a new home. The Sales Process and Sales Team was wonderful. But the rest is substandard. If I had to do it over again, I would pass. We have issues that were cataloged during final walk-thru that remains unresolved. They haven't been in touch in months. Workmanship is horrible and clearly their is no pride in what they do. We notified the Project Manager of issues during construction and he just ignores them. I wish I had positive things to say about my experience because this was my dream home. I worked all my life to get this home. But I just can't.

Century Communities responded:
Hello Elaine-

I've spoken to the Vegas team and it looks like they have spoken with you last week and you'll be submitting a claim through www.centurycommunities.com.

At Century we strive to make things right in a not so perfect world of construction. We will continue to do this because our ultimate goal is for you to love your home.

My new house was put together by some people that had no regard for what a new home was suppose to look like and taken care of ! We are documenting all the discrepancies left behind by this company that now we have to wait a year that hopefully can be fixed. We feel that we made a mistake buying from century!!

I would never buy from century communities again. Lived in our house for 11 weeks and have taken off 20 business days to resolve issues and they still aren’t done. I’m currently working from home right now while they completely rebuild my shower. Buying process was terrible. The construction manager must have been sleeping on the job. Still have major issues in drywall to repair in later months.

Has been a mess and have had to reach out and continue to ask for resolution to any issues we find. Have had so many issues that we've simply stopped reporting them as it isn't worth the hassle.

Century Communities responded:
Shane, we understand that our management team did circle back. Looks like there were several areas we fell short, including our communication. The good news is that our new Director of Construction has taken your feedback to heart and has identified opportunities for his team to provide better service.

Quality of the workmanship is made even worse by the complete lack of follow up and care for the customer demonstrated by Century. Promises made over and over were not delivered upon and even the warranty leads admit to the poor contractor work quality being provided.

Century Communities responded:
Would like to look into your concern further, but unfortunately, the review is "anonymous." Please email Laura Adame, our national customer relations liaison @ Laura.adame@centurycommunities.com so that she can gather more information and relay to the division leadership. Thank you.

The quality control on these homes is terrible. We are still trying to get things repaired and attended to 4 months later. It is a nightmare trying to get anything done. Even when the subs come out often times you have to babysit them to make sure it's done right. If I could go back I would not buy this home, and will avoid ever purchasing from Century in the valley. Not even the Division President cares about the quality of his products. When I emailed him he quickly pawned it off to lower level employees without a care. When speaking with neighbors, almost all the families in my community ...

Century does not deliver anything in a professional manner, see below for details exprrience Cosntruction quality: missing baseboards paints and doors during pre close orientation, on closing date none if these issues were resolved. It took months to resolve the issues that were supposed to be done by closing. quality is so cheap, missing alignmnets, switches aligned incorrectly, you name it everything sucks Service/warranty: no one picks up calls, once they pick the call they will telm you it will take few months to get it done as others before you have logged issues. To many issues with the home that were not addressed in a timely manner. Quality of the home for the purchase price was exceedingly overpriced. And when having an issue addressed regarding the craftsmanship, Century employees conduct was unprofessional, rude, and threatening. I feared for my safety when dealing with this employee. So much that I had to ask the employee to leave my property.

I closed the house on Jan 29th, first issue arose when the pipe behind the bathroom shower burst flooding the basement and closets. The bathroom tiles 2 of them have been taken out and the carpet removed. Literally it is more than a month now and I have not been able to use the shower. The customer experience is very bad the maintenance crew never show up on time and they block the whole day just to stay at home for them cancelling all my appointments. They never update / give courtesy calls , if i reach out to the warranty team they hit back at me asking not to call them and are very rude. ...

Lower your expectations. Houses are built based on speed not quality. Floors and uneven, walls aren’t straight, paint drips and missed spots everywhere, gaps in all finishes. Warranty items are only responded to if you state “water is leaking”.

Century Communities - We had many many problems throughout the build process.

We had many many problems throughout the build process. Our salesman was pretty unresponsive to emails. We had multiple things not finished before closing, and the only reason I closed was because we'd lose $10K if we didn't. We still have an issue with our roof that I pointed out to them at least 4 months before close. The area manager told me they would fix it, but here we are 4 months post-close, and the issue still remains. Overall, a horrible process and will absolutely never build a home with Century Communities again.

Working with Craig has been absolutely miserable. He doesn’t respond to messages and shrugs off any issues I have with my house. No one responds to warranty issues. Lori has been absolutely worthless in assisting with contacting Craig. When it came to taking money in the beginning, I received nothing but emails and text messages from Lori. Now I have heard nothing from her regarding any issue I have had with my house. I wish I never purchased a home with Century Communities.

Century applied an arbitrary lot premium to the purchase price which was significantly higher than purchase price of adjacent lots and would not adjust the purchase price after the price of adjacent lots was discovered through search of public records. We bought our home in April and have yet to fully move in. The amount of repairs are endless, to get someone to show up, show on time, or even get a response is impossible. Our floors have been replaced once and less than a week later had the same issues. The bosses came and looked, agreed and promised they’d have an answer to fix within 2 days. It’s been 2 weeks and we have yet to hear anything from them. If you want a home to call home and new one ready to move into this isn’t the company you’d want to purchase with.

Century Communities does a great job at selling you a dream home, but lacks accountability and controls of their construction processes. Do you want to feel happy about your purchase and reassured that all requirements in the development and construction processes were met? Do you want a builder that follows through on their commitments when they’ve made an error? Wouldn’t you rather not have to chase down executives at their company to understand what’s going on with your property’s issues? If so, then I suggest you avoid Century Communities as your builder.
