We dealt with Ashley directly from the start and she made things seamless. She made sure when I had concerns they were addressed. I was out of state so that meant so much and eased the stress of building . Overall it has been a great experience.

Century Communities works hard to give you that great feeling of someone you can trust. The workmanlike manner lead by an incredible builder gives you the most beautiful home for a reasonable price.

Jim and Ashley are the most wonderful people I ever met. For me, they exceeded very well in their profession as a builder and a seller. Most of all they strongly care and will give you their word to building you your dream home.

Builders are Amazing, front staff lackluster

We started the process with Becky, advised of our budget, called Premier Lenders while in office for approval odds, we were approved for much more than our budget and Becky started to push more expensive builds, declined and stated our budget again, continued to push the more expensive ones. While going through the process with our realtor communication was subpar as Becky, once we were able to get a hold of her, would often tell us to contact our realtor for the information we were requesting from her, our realtor had already attempted to get the information from Becky with no luck which ...

Century Communities responded:
Jonas-

Thank you for the very detailed purchasing experience. Century can always learn and use this as training to only get better in the future. I'll pass on to the team for further training.

I'm also glad you shared your experience with Chuck. Sounds like he hit the home run and met all your needs. We will for sure let him know what a good job he did for you as well.

We have moved around the country quite a bit. This is the sixth home that we have built, and our first time building with Century. When you build you have to expect timeline changes as well as a few construction glitches. As with all real estate you will benefit from great buyer realtors and professional independent home inspectors. Our experience with Century has been more positive than negative. We would purchase another home with them with them again.

Century Communities responded:
Donna- Your experience in purchasing homes lends light on all kinds of things that do and can happen during a home building process. We at Century Communities proactively train our teams to do their best communicating. Thank you again for sharing your experience. We appreciate it.

Make sure you know what you want and you ask for it. These are great houses but they are being built quickly and multiple at the same time so things can get missed and the quality can suffer because of the tight schedule. Continue to monitor your house while in your first warranty year. We will probably hire someone to do an inspection around 10 months and make sure we get everything fixed under warranty.

Great Build Experience, Very Poor Transfer From Build to Warranty

  • Robert R.

We had a great build experience. However since moving in it’s been the opposite. Three months after closing we have items left from our pre-closing walkthrough incomplete. The few warranty items we’ve reported have not been addressed. We never receive updates unless we ask. I have to give the “after the closing” process a 1 out of 5.

Century Communities responded:
Robert- We have talked to the team and they are reaching out to you. Thank you for sharing. The COVID19 pandemic has put lots of our trades behind the last couple of months due to Government/State mandates not letting them in your home but now that restrictions have eased we are working diligently to get back on track and get your taken care of.

Make sure you get a plot survey with all easements and walk the lot with property lines marked. Take pictures and get everything in writing. Check in and walk the lot and home about every other week to check for mistakes, things that got overlooked, or poor craftsmen-ship. Do not sign off on anything if something is incomplete.

Buying a home with century community was a good experience. The quality of the home is outstanding, there’s creativity in the model selection and contractors did a good job! The issue that bothers me the most is the choice of grass and how it’s being tendered during the closing process. I only had grasses at the front but weeds on the side and at the back of the building. The closing process was a little stressful which was due to the fact that I was deployed at that time. Quite some reasonable discounts that were offered towards the closing cost which is relatively fair compare to what you ...

The house is great, but we do not have a key to the mailbox so no mail. Some warranty claims have been pend for several weeks. Some builders park in middle of road so difficult to drive on the only road out.

Century Communities responded:
With all this uncertanty we are all going through and trades on orders to stay home (social distancing) we are handcufed. Once all of us get the green light we can schedual you. At that time please go to www.centurycommunities.com web page and fill out a service ticket.

We will talk to the team about the parking in the middle of the street as we can see that being a problem.

Quality home but poor customer experience

This was our third new build; all 3 homes we picked everything out and went through the whole process. Of the 3 different builders I would rate Century's material quality highest but their customer service the poorest of all 3 experiences. The good: -Quality of the home and well thought out floor plan. -Initial signing and agreement went smoothly. -Flexibility in most of our choices and upgrades with quality brands. You will find out later some neighbors were allowed to do things you asked for but were told not possible. -Design person was fun to work with and had good input. We’ve had no ...

Lies and Failed Promises

We were told a lot of things, that made us purchase. When it came time for all those things to happen, it was apology after apology. They fired our agent mid buying, never told us until we had a question to ask, and couldn’t get a hold of her. They used her as an excuse for the all ‘misinformation’. I still have never had a warranty walk through or explanation. I still have things they said ‘we will fix after closing’ that aren’t three months later. I love my home, but the buying, building, and post closing were all horrible experiences I feel because the lack of leadership and consistency ...

We were never supplied air filters for our house. Our property line has moved since putting in a new house next door. Still have an electric issue in our guest bathroom. Had an exposed wire in master bedroom that tripped and burnt out the fan. Our back door was dented they replaced it but never replaced the framing due to water damage and breaking the frame when replacing the door so now it doesn’t lock except for the doorknob. Never finished the sod in our yard plus with a new house next door one of the workers drove through it. Painters missed several spots after coming out but the only ...

Very poor communication

From start to...well it’s almost four months since close and we aren’t done yet so I can’t say to finish, it has been poor communication and quality. The only saving grace to my blood pressure has been Lisa and Matt. John was very friendly as well. The oversight in building some of these houses has been non-existent. Living in trash outside everywhere is despicable and embarrassing. I’m tired and just want my house fixed like new...since it is.

Century Communities responded:
David-after speaking with the team they cleaned up the trash around the house and put up a silt fence to try and stop construction trash from blowing in your yard. Century Communities is on hold with the remaining interior repairs due to Covid-19. Once we get the green light please contact your customer relations manager to resume.

our first lot was broken into and flooded missed the close date they put us in a different home in a very timely manner. The frige we paid for came with a year warranty and expried 1 month after moving in the sod in the front was dead and the soil poisoned from sheet rock brick rock and dead roots /branches that were just buried and sod laid over top the side and back yard were solid clay with a poor drainge system taking up the majority of the back yard... now being told that the home being built next to me is going to be 10 ft or less from my house. We are having major problems - as well as our neighbors. Floor, HVAC, major settling, drywall issues, yard issues, etc. Overall very inferior workmanship. First response to a problem is always the cheap way out. Argument ensues. After several more proposed "solutions" they finally agree to do the right thing - which is never done with excellence. Paid for a new house. Got a house full of problems and headaches. 100% regret buying.

Century Communities responded:
Would have been helpful to get your name to gather constructive feedback. Stephanie Caldwell is the Customer Relations Manager there and has an amazing heart for people. We don't profess to build perfect -- because nothing is in life -- but when issues arise, Stephanie has a track record for acknowledging where the team/trades/product fell short and works towards resolution.
