Make sure with this builder that you have everything in writing and even then you're taking a chance! For the amount this builder charges for homes, you'd expect better overall experience with the process

Constuction manager responsive and communicative. Workmanship, however, lacked attention to details. Painting, drywall, caulking, door alignment, window quality, and flooring installation were all below par, requiring numerous repairs/rework that are still outstanding 90 days later.

Garage has split wood between the cylinder blocks and drywall. Master shower downstairs Door was not closing right before we closed on the house and fixed it then and now the problem continues after 2 uses of opening and closing the door.

The people you work with at the beginning and middle of the process are great. They keep you informed and help tremendously. The hardest part (but I'm sure this is true with all builders) is once you sign the papers and close, anything you think isn't good enough doesn't matter. I only say this because I'm working with the warranty team now. And they will only fix something that's broken or not working, but shotty workmanship is your problem now. But that makes sense, it's their job to make sure they don't spend all of Drees' money and they aren't obligated to fix shotty work once you close. ...

House was completed within the timeframe noted. This was done at the sacrifice of doing things correctly the first time.

Getting issues that were done poorly, incorrectly or not at all (some I realize were material b/orders) so we could move in, then takes weeks-months for resolution. Being told "We'll take care of it" needs to then be followed with a definitive "By whom and by when". There is a 60 day follow up that should be done within 2 weeks, not 2 months, for a $560K house. Time, thus closing on the house, is way more important to Drees than quality at time of possession.

Overall satisfied with the buying experience, except that Drees should have been considerate with some changes during the construction phase. Was charged 1k for every change. We also got charged extra for the head walls instead of being included in the base price. The homeowners are also expecting tye builder and HOA to add more street lights and provide walkways in the neighborhood.

Workmanship of contractors- below my standards they would have to come back multiple times to fix items that should have been done correctly the first time such as erecting a Piller to be straight! Things like that where you could see visibly to any person walking by the home. Frustrating process to watch and realize this continues to delay the build. They needed to be babysat and checked each day but even checking it at the end of the day the work it would be too late as the work would have to be redone or corrected.

Your sales department was terrible, I never felt I could trust him or felt respected by him. There were more than one occasion when we were not spoken to with 100% integrity. The design center ladies were amazing. Albert was really good until we got close to closing. He was a little more hesitant to correct minor discrepancies at that time than I would have liked. His trustworthiness and communications is what kept me from walking away throughout the build process i felt i could trust him.

Although I'm quite disappointed by the state of the exterior of my house and the current status of the yard work and landscaping, my interactions with Drees employees has been very good, especially with Peppe. Every time I have an issue I reach out to him and he responds back right away and has been relentless in trying to make sure my issues are resolved. My major issues with the process is defintiely with the exterior of the house. Overall the experience was decent. The Drees product is definitely a must have as far as design and function. As for overall workmanship I would say my home is an anomaly compared to the others I have seen, not to say Drees has not been extremely supportive (Saul) in resolving these issues. We have several minor flaws within our home but overall we are happy with our purchase. We will recommend Drees to our peers and community.

Makes sure all is complete prior to closing. Even though I did a walk through the week before I was assured that all maintenance that showed would be completed prior to closing. When I walked through the day before closing the work had not been done yet. I was given a lot of assurances that they would get on it immediately but it took 2 months before any of the work was completed. Don’t be blinded by excitement or distraction

Make sure you walk through and nitpick the house. Contractors try and cut corners especially the finishing crew. If you have animals do not get the real hardwood or engineered hardwood. Make sure you double check the appliances you get are correct. Plan on doing a lot more landscaping.

The sales experience was really really bad. If you can make it past that, and work with the delivery team-- you will be okay. We actually started to consider ending our build because the team was so non responsive and rude. I actually had to email the lady and ask her to please be kind in working with us. Now, once we got to delivery... it was better... Tom was amazing to work with. He did a wonderful job and was EXTREMELY responsive. The lack of urgency to fix the items found at the week before closing walk through has been disappointing… we highlighted ~15 items and we are approaching 99 days and we still have items open. The lack of respect by some of the subcontractors has been shocking as they fix one item and damage another item that requires someone else to come fix it.
