Drees does not respect the customers time from scheduling meetings, contractors showing up without prior notification post-close, to lawn completion. We have been left with a dirt yard for going on 3 months after closing. For dog owners, this defeats the purpose of purchasing a home and has left us with an absolutely miserable experience. We have had to take time from work, rearrange schedules, and make arrangements for our dogs to be cared for with no end in sight. The home buying experience was overshadowed by the lack of adherence and unprofessionalism related to agreed upon purchase items to the house. Additionally, minor design flaws are not easily corrected through Drees (fixing myself). Ultimately, Drees came through in fulfilling their agreement for purchased items and corrected most but not all issues.

Lack of communication and Detail of Craftsmanship

My overall experience with Drees is they do what they can with what they are given. Their biggest issue is lower management and their contractors. Management doesn’t hold the contractors accountable and the contractors do the bare minimum to get by. You as the homeowner have to micromanage the build from the start and make sure all the items you signed for are completed. It made the process incredibly stressful and not enjoyable. Hopefully the issue can be resolved and improved upon. Hopefully making future homeowners processes more enjoyable.

The warranty page is mostly exclusions and legalese , and it basically left to their discretion as to how to interpret the validity of your complaint. They have standard reasons why a defect/quality/workmanship is not covered , even if you know that was not the reason. They will quickly cover the small stuff..faucets , trim,lights, paint etc. But Structural cracks, leaks ,foundation etc..are bit more of a heartburn.They will cover leaks for a year, by getting the crack filled from inside ( 1/2 hr job ) and the repair contractor supposedly covers those specific repair locations for 10 ...

I honestly think that these homes were not built very well and cheap materials were used to erect them up so quickly. Walls are definitely not sound proof. I can hear noise on the 2nd floor from the basement.

A poor experience with semi-custom divison

Our review is for Drees on Your Lot, semi-custom homes. Regretfully we would not recommend them. Communication from our market manager and on-site contractor was vague at best. We were misinformed about a major structural change and ended up extremely dissatisfied with the configuration of our front stoop. We appealed to the company at different levels as we believe we were taken advantage of but they declined to remediate their mistake. Additionally, many of the interior finishes, namely carpentry, paint and carpet install were just plain poor workmanship.

Overall Drees provided a good product in the end. Unfortunately, you’ll have to watch everything they do and constantly fight with Drees to get what was promised.

Was told it would be 7-9 months. Took almost 15. Went through 3 builders and none of them ever said the same story as the last one. They liked to blame supply chain and the job market, but they spent a lot of time on rework. Dug the basement and foundation, saw that it had field tiles draining into it, and ignored it for a month while the sides collapsed. Had to excavate more and do a lot of extra backfill because of that. Most of the time we were waiting on something it was because they messed up. Our salesperson Lisa was less than helpful or professional. Our home had construction errors. We're still waiting for items to be fixed which is disappointing. We wanted to love this process but it has been emotionally draining at this point.

You have to watch what they do closely. There were numerous mistakes that were made on the building of our home. They don’t address the issues right away either. Try wait until everything is done and then have a “fixing crew” come back to fix the issues. Bit not everything can be addressed that way and so some of our finishes did not turn out the way we would have liked. Up until the final weeks, the experience was pretty good. However, the final weeks, and after signing has been a nightmare. Final walkthrough (one week out) had countless issues, while numerous things were still not even scheduled, to know if we should be requesting they be fixed. Drees would like us to believe it was a supply chain issue however every other house around us started building after we did and got their windows seemingly on time but certainly no one else waited 4 months. Their vendor selection is really poor. We’ve had multiple issues just in the first 4 months of living here that include but are not limited to: a gas leak, sewage backup in the basement, foundation cracks with water leaks, dirty carpet upon move-in, unfixable mold buildup in grout, and a custom built-in in our living room that still isn’t complete. It has all in all been a very stressful experience.

The quality of finish work was subpar and disappointing. There was a general lack of quality control in finishing our home. It has required numerous onsite visits by Drees and their subcontractors. For the amount paid, new construction homes should have much better quality. We understand in any new construction there wilkl be minor items, but our home had everyting from poor flooring installation, forgotten items, poor HVAC, missing critical mechanical items, severely poor drywall and mud work, tile and chauking and grout work was sloppy. Overall, we regret our purchase of this Drees home.
