During the build process, everything was going well until we reached the point when the builder told me he would be able to calculate the completion date, and then my walk-through and closing dates. He neglected to include the part where Drees' warranty person would do a walk-through first, then they would have 10 days (I think) to correct what was found BEFORE I would do my walk-through, and then they would have 10 days to fix anything I found before I would close. For the next 2 months, I continually asked if certain delays in building would create a delay in my completion and closing dates and/or if we were still on track to complete and close around the time we had discussed, and the original dates we had discussed were continually confirmed. It was not until I received notification that my walk-through and closing dates were 1 month later than had continually been confirmed. It was at this time that I learned I had not been told of Drees' procedure calculating these final and important dates. It would definitely be best if Drees provides a written, comprehensive outline of their procedure in calculating completion, buyer walk-through, and closing timeframes. Due to the pandemic and certain items being continually delayed, my builder continually kept pushing forward with as much as he possibly could so progress could still be made. I was also told about how he pushed some vendors to deliver and/or install certain items earlier than they planned in order to reduce further delays for my home. It was apparent he was working very hard to reduce delays while getting the necessary work completed. After closing and having a few items completed on the repair list, I asked the builder about some items needing to be repaired which were noted by my private inspector, one on the roof and one in the attic space, neither of which I was able to check personally to see if they were done. I was told since it wasn't on the list from my walk-through, it wasn't done - something that I found interesting as I made them known to the warranty person with whom I did my walk through that these items were found by my private inspector and other items I had mentioned were on that list. I was told (and this was also brought up during the building process) that they only fix issues noted by the city/county inspector and not private inspectors. Since it is a buyer's right to hire a private inspector, this does not make sense...what are we paying for, then, if the builder feels they have the right to ignore those findings?! These items have been fixed, but it needed to be done by making a claim with warranty. After moving in, I realized there were no towel rings (to hold hand towels and/or face cloths) in any of my 3 bathrooms. I have always had them in past homes, so had to purchase my own and have them installed. Not a super huge deal, but felt like the bathrooms were not 100% "complete" without them. The shower curtain rod in both my guest bathrooms are silver...my hardware are all bronze...so this looks out of place. For the price paid for these homes, seems to me no towel rings and shower rods which do not match is "cutting corners" in a way. During my walk through, since I could see there were plants with some concerns, I asked if they replaced any within the first year if they died (I have found most landscapers and even Home Depot provide this warranty) and was told no. Within the first month or so, my gardener has cut at least 4 plants/bushes to their base. Since part of the price of the home is a fully landscaped yard (with specific plants/bushes/trees), you would think they would provide some type of warranty for them. My 2 previous homes were also custom built and those builders, who provided landscaping for only the front yard, provided a 1 yr warranty for the sod and plants they installed. I have been living in my home for 2 months, and all in all, the home seems well built and warranty has been easy to work with for those few items I needed handled right away. ... More

Good to work with

I give Drees a fat 0 on everything above. I've had problems since day I moved in the most major being extensive mold. Drees has been unhelpful from the beginning. I would never recommend them to anyone and dissuade anyone thinking about it with my experience. Buying a Drees home is the biggest regret of my life.

Hello, throughout the searching, buying, building process for this home...my wife and I were fully informed, supported and every question was answered/addressed. This was our first build, but not our first home and frankly having moved throughout this wonderful country we are more than pleased to be here and in such a well built home. We highly recommend looking into Drees as your builder and trust that they will help you to be 100% comfortable with this purchase/process.

Overall our experience with Drees was great, from sales to design and the actual build no matter how small our question was it was answered timely. The only suggested area for improvement was around financing and the interest rate lock. We were originally told we could lock the rate after we completed the design phase then it changed to once the foundation was poured (a couple months later). A reminder from Drees to lock the rate once the foundation was in would have been helpful. Garage has split wood between the cylinder blocks and drywall. Master shower downstairs Door was not closing right before we closed on the house and fixed it then and now the problem continues after 2 uses of opening and closing the door.

We had not been in the home buying market in over 30 years. Even in this tough pandemic and post-pandemic environment we were able to get our beautiful new home. Supply issues cause some hiccups, but we were informed every step of the way

Overall we are very pleased with the service and contractor support of Drees Homes. Even with the shortages and logistic issues, we were able to close on our house on schedule. Drees has been very responsive to requests and we believe you will find great value in the quality of workmanship and the community.

Takes long time to take care issues

This is our third home we have built and we found a lot corners cut along the way . Some we caught and some we didn’t till moved in. Love our house but annoying fixes happening way to often

The Drees Sales Agent (Susan), the Architect (Brett) and our designer (Candice) were amazing and supported us throughout our journey to make our Dream Home possible. We absolutely love our home. There were a few mistakes during construction but when informed, Drees made changes immediately. After closing and when we moved it, there were a few issues but those were also sorted, Now awaiting the 90 day warranty survey.

Response time to house repairs is too long after closing. I am still waiting for appliance repair, electrical outlet follow up, and lighting replacement months after closing. Drees is unresponsive to problems and lacks staffing to follow up on problems in a timely manner.

There was lack of any communication for 5 months or more change of builders several times and cheaper materials used in this particular unit. Not quality as I expected.

I would like to recognize Nick J for his responsiveness to any issues I’ve had to call about. He’s fixed them quickly and efficiently. I would also like to send a big thank you to Neil for his quick response to any indoor issues. He has been a pleasure to work with

So many times, you hear of all the nightmares with building a new house. Our process couldn't have gone smoother. Greg, our Market Manager and Keith, our builder, were fantastic to work with. They were responsive, caring and respected everything we needed and wanted in our home. We were given weekly updates and always got responses within hours when we reached out with a question or concern. I would highly recommend Drees to anyone looking to build.

Explored other builders. Decided on Drees. Value, style and flexibility to customize resulted in a spectacular home!

The home was not worth what we paid and we arevsyill having issues.

Lawn maintenance was not good as need to reseed the backyard lawn within one month after moving in. There are medium size rocks and two very big sized rocks in the backyard.

1)Lawn seeding and sod was not good that just put seeding and without losses soil 2)garage concrete was good that had a long line crack 3)screen door qua wasn’t good 4) patio concrete was not good 5) Steel was exposed out of concrete 6) close door doesn’t align with block area 7)front door lock spent two months to fixed due to ins wrong spec

Drees Homes is a trustable and reliable builder, they value their customer and strive to make it right if there are any issues in the building process and offer good support after moving in.

Our builder Rob was awesome. He deserves all the praise!

Overall we are very happy. Didn’t like $400 water bill we received for first month—due to non-stop watering of lawn.

We decided to build with Drees, because we believed they built superior homes. We do like our home and think aesthetically it looks nice. Unfortunately several issues have clouded our experience. Several of the subs who worked on our house did a sloppy, careless job and would also often leave food, drink, and trash onsite after they left for the day. Days before closing I noticed and killed a large cockroach in the house and was hoping it was just a one-off. Unfortunately, that was not the case and we are now experiencing a cockroach infestation that we are trying to mitigate ourselves and with exterminators. We believe that a dirty construction site and a lack of sealing the house properly have likely led to this issue. A brand new house should not have cockroaches.There were also times when a sub would be sent to fix something and it would not be done correctly, so another sub would be sent out. We would suggest looking into hiring a new pool of subs for these reasons. Our house has been under construction in one way or another since we moved in (2.5 months ago) due to items on our punch list during our walkthrough along with a few additional items we noticed after moving in. We have truly appreciated our contractor, Josh’s responsiveness and willingness to fix the issues, but our problem is that there have been ALOT of issues. Three of our windows have been leaking and have caused water damage and have caused a mold smell in the house. We appreciate the responsiveness of Jimmy to have them fixed, but unfortunately the window replacements may take a while to come in and other broken windows that happened during construction have not yet been fixed. To put it simply, we do not believe this should be the experience when buying a new home. We have had one issue after another and are getting tired of new problems popping up and have concerns over what future problems may arise. If we could do it again, we would likely go with a different builder and hope for better results. ... More
