This was our first experience building a home, and we initially approached the process with some hesitation due to the many negative stories we had heard from others about their home building experiences. From the very beginning, however, our Sales Counselor, Alecia, along with the entire model home team, made us feel welcome, comfortable, and confident in our decision. It quickly became clear that Highland Homes has a well-defined building process and thoughtfully designed plans, with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency—an important priority for us. We were especially fortunate to have Travis as our Construction Manager. He consistently communicated next steps proactively and was patient, accommodating, and highly responsive to our many questions and concerns throughout the build. Despite several change orders we introduced along the way, Travis was able to keep the project on schedule and even completed our home a full month ahead of schedule. We also greatly appreciated the time he took to meet with us in person to walk through maintenance items and provide guidance for long-term care of our home. We could not be more pleased with our Highland home. The quality of workmanship, value for the investment, and the genuine care demonstrated by everyone we worked with exceeded our expectations and made the entire experience very positive. The process was amazing from start to finish. Any issues or concerns I had were listened to, and the team truly did their best to help every step of the way. Buying a house can be stressful, but they made it smooth and reassuring. I’m very grateful for their professionalism, patience, and dedication.

Communication and follow thru was missing at times. It felt like we didn't know where things were such as sprinkler system to shut down the water consumption. We've been in our new home for six weeks and some (not all) repairs are finally being taken care of. We still have an issue with the kitchen cabinet drawer broken. Design of home is nice, functionality is less than desirable. For example the kitchen does not have enough counter space or cabinets. Very tight between island and stove area.

The entire process was smooth. It is clear as I get to know our home better that Highland put alot of thought into doing the right things to make the owner experience the best it can be and our PM Lane is super responsive and helpful whenever I have a question

We have been very pleased with David, our point of contact throughout the construction of our home. He was proactive and quick to address any issues or concerns we had along the way. Overall, we’re very satisfied with our new home. Also, we dealt with Manny prior to construction and he was a pleasure to work with.

We purchased a new home in homestead community. The buying process was great from Terri to the financial was seamless. We had an issue with the garage door they fixed and took care of very quickly which was great. However I feel the used the cheapest products in the home from the carpet which looks like it’s 10 years old after only 2 months. We only have three people living in the house and we don’t abuse or walk back and forth like a busy street for it to be worn down so quickly. Also faucets and other products used were very cheap quality. We also have no mailbox after months of living in the house and we have been getting the run around on when we will have a mailbox. We currently have to go back and forth to the post office to get mail! The sod that was put down is subpar full of weeds and just throw down most smooth lumps and looks bad, hard to mow! Noticed careless craftsmanship after being in the house as well after paying 500k you would think you would get a quality product sadly I don’t !! ... More

Sales team was great pat and kitty. Home loan process was fairly good. Hank was awesome. Christi was helpful but confused me on a few items. Spencer has been good and responsive for warranty. Main issues drywallers did a poor job. Walls appeared bowed or sloppy, outlet cuts are huge when replacing switches with smart switches, the plates don’t cover there big cuts. Some walls missing texture. One wall had a soft spot but was fixed. Mortar/bricklayers guys did a poor job as well. Tons of mortar voids all over. Several walls the bricks are not straight and bowed inward. Tile guys did alright for the most part but could improve. A few backsplash tiles are crooked. ... More

Low quality materials and not clear plan picture manager doesn't know details about plan hights and all, felt very bad experience after spending 500k, nobody comes for proper service after moving and payment completed

The house is very nice. Every person I’ve worked with was a wonderful. I feel like there was some things that were too rushed through and was some visible. When I asked for something to be done, though, everyone listened and explained the situation and took care of what I needed.

We purchased our Highland Home sight unseen, and from day one we were lucky enough to work with our construction manager, Lane. For months, all of our communication was over email, and he consistently impressed us. His responses were always incredibly in-depth, clear, and timely. He went above and beyond in problem-solving, and even with some last-minute changes, he remained patient, accommodating, and solutions-oriented. When we finally met him in person, I was genuinely shocked—based on his level of knowledge, professionalism, and communication skills, I assumed he had at least 30 years of experience. He’s that good. Highland is truly lucky to have him. I also want to give the biggest thank-you to Renee. Lane and Renee were the absolute dream team. From the moment we were connected, she made the design and selection process effortless. She always went out of her way to help bring our house dreams to life—even letting me text her with questions—and she responded quickly every single time. 10/10 for both of them. I bought a Highland home because of their wonderful reputation however, I was disappointed in the quality of work and the oversight. While I love the home itself there were many issues during construction and after. The finishes of the house are poorly done and it feels like cheap labor was used just to complete the job. I thought Highland was known for great customer service however, was disappointed in being brushed off by the construction manager. If you choose to buy a home with Highland, you need to keep a close eye on every single detail and make sure you bring it to the attention before closing. ... More

My husband and I worked with Tyler (Sales, 6 Creeks in Kyle) to purchase our home. Tyler made working through the details of the process easy and efficient -- and transparent. There we no surprises or stumbles along the way. Mark, the builder, was available at our convenience to make sure that the move in process and orientation to the home were all successful and met our expectations. From touring the model homes through the sales process and closing we had a really great experience.

My wife and I have built 7 homes, prior to this working with Highland. Renee, our Sales Counselor and Hunter, our Construction Manager made the purchasing, construction and Move-in experience the best we have ever had. During the construction, we would stop by the sales model and the sales team would were very gracious with their time as we were deciding feature details and decorating ideas. Also, during this time, we would drop by the construction site to see progress. Hunter, would go out of his way to stop by and say "hello" whenever he say us. Both Renee and Hunter did an excellent job of communicating status and progress on our home. The Highland team had a well documented phase process which set expectations for us. This process was instrumental in delivering a quality home on the scheduled they committed. Both Renee and Hunter were responsive to our change requests, while still staying on schedule. Hunter was very responsive to questions/concerns raised during and even pointed out a couple items we failed to identify during the selection process (kitchen accent wall, kitchen beams and 2nd bedroom bath frameless shower). Hunter offered to add at no charge nice features like 1) curtain rod bracing, 2) garage attic decking and 3) reduction in use of media room glue and tack strips (we /owner planned to remove this carpet and install rubber flooring for a gym). Whenever their was ambiguity on whether a feature was included, Highland "owned it" and provided the feature at no additional charge. To summarize, my wife and I had an excellent experience working with the Highland team. Building a new home is always stressful. As experienced homebuyers, my family and I were eager to embark on this journey, but it proved to be a mix of challenges and positives. The process highlighted varying levels of service across different stages, which I’ll detail below. Ultimately, while some aspects fell short, others exceeded our expectations, leading to a completed home we’re proud of. The sales phase was unfortunately the most disappointing part of our experience, primarily due to our interactions with Kelly. She was consistently non-responsive to emails, often taking days or weeks to reply, if at all. Verbally, her information was inaccurate, and she frequently contradicted her own statements in follow-up emails regarding the sales process. This lack of consistency eroded any confidence we had in her guidance, making the initial steps feel chaotic and unreliable. In contrast, the contracting and construction phases were handled exceptionally well by Jonathan, who restored our faith in the process. He was highly responsive to emails, texts, and phone calls, addressing every concern promptly and thoroughly. Jonathan invested significant time sitting down with us to ensure all specific details were accurately captured and implemented. His respectful and understanding approach in every customer service interaction made him the standout highlight of our Highland Homes experience, and we would wholeheartedly recommend him to others. Financing and closing were smooth and efficient, thanks to Nancy’s outstanding support. She excelled in communication, providing timely and clear updates throughout. Her accuracy with data and documentation gave us peace of mind during these critical final stages. We appreciated her professionalism and would be happy to work with her again on any future endeavors. In summary, our Highland Homes journey had its ups and downs, but the dedication of team members like Jonathan and Nancy made a significant difference.
