The house was perfect based on our first visit and finally we bought the house. Unfortunately, we signed the documents with many pending issues to fix and has been an mess to get everything done. At this moment (after 2 months we bought) we still have some issues pending to fix and I do not going to call you guys any more. I will fix everything from my pocket and I will send you the bill. I know you guys are not going to pay me but this is my house and investment.

I was so excited to build a Highland Home. Having lived in the birthplace of Highland Homes and seeing their style of home all over, it was a no brainer when I saw they built in the Houston area also. From start to finish, it was a headache. Now that I’m in the home, there’s issues every day and I’ve experienced bad attitudes from staff or no response at all. I am at the point of tip toeing around my house in fear of something else breaking and even worse anxiety when I think about guests coming and something falling apart of not operating. I’m saddened and disappointed from this long ...

Overall the actual homebuying was low average--i.e. responsiveness to issues-after moving in -they seemed to not be able to control very loud music of their workers-this is ongoing and detracts from the overall experience-it also interferes with our ability to do our work at home.

The financial side of the transaction went smoothly. When it came with the actual, physical habitation, the workmanship was fair. Fortunately, when issues arose and reported, the building manager was available.

We closed on our house with an affidavit for needed repairs/home finishings. We assumed it'd be done withing 14 days. We're over 2 months in and all of the repairs are still not complete. We've had to take multiple days off work to accommodate contractors, etc.! We had a third party contractor show up at our house to serve us a hand written "notice" that they haven't been paid by Highland and plan to take action. I met the guy while he was building the deck before we purchased the home. It's not my first pick of people to have showing up in the evening angry with my 15 month old in the ...

Good home but a very frustrating process

Overall, the quality of the home we purchased from Highland is good. Being able to see work that was put in behind the walls was encouraging. Unfortunately, it is clear that the builder was pushing to close before the end of the year to lower their tax burden on a developed lot vs the raw land it was before the building process began. The finishing topics in several places were sloppy and it felt like the term "in compliance" was used many times during our walk through. We were only able to complete our first walkthrough 5 days prior to closing so almost all blue/green tape fixes occurred ...

Rushed home build and persistent unresolved issues

Even though my home was far delayed due to supply chain issues, it should never have been closed when it did due to problems that should have been handled pre-closing. The front door doesn't seal and going on 4 months not fixed - allows insects and cold air into the house. One of the walls is 4 inches off spec per several post build contractors informed me about - causing the trim of kitchen cabinets to not be aligned correctly. Severe damage inside a cabinet that was not caught by the builder during their own pre-closing inspection. That, despite them discouraging me to get my own ...

Highland Homes - Do not close in December.

Do not close in December. We were rushed to close for the end of the year even tho we new there was a lot to fix. These issues/workorders took months to complete. If i was to do it again, i would wait until the house was 100%. With the rush, there was a lot of poor craftsmanship. To the point we regret buying our family home.

We closed almost two months ago and they are still working on our house. I feel the work has been sloppy and not well done. It looks like I am fixing a used home instead of moving into a new home! I would not buy from them again! My mistake was closing before the house was completely finished!!! The price we paid does not reflect the quality of the home. We are very disappointed!

WE PURCHASED IN SANDBROCK RANCH. WE HAVE HAD WEEKLY ISSUES WITH THE HOUSE. THE ON GOING ISSUE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM . ITS NOT JUST US, ITS NUMEROUS HIGHLAND HOMEOWNERS IN SANDBROCK WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE BREAKERS TRIP BECAUSE THE CODES ARE STRIC, BUT OTHER BUILDERS ARE NOT HAVING THE SAME ISSUES

While our Highland Home looks nice from the outside, it has been one frustration after another assuming ownership of this house. From failed promises to install a barrier wall that resulted in a vandal driving through our front yard (in a gated community, no less) resulting in hundreds of dollars of additional watering fees due to re-sodding, to HVAC duct work coming apart in the attic, to many other small to large issues, this has not been the experience described to us as we selected this builder and community. Perhaps ours is a unique case, but it doesn't feel that way when we speak to ...

Had to have brick removed and redone. The mail did not get delivered to community mails boxes for a month. The internet and fiber optic did not work until a month after we moved in. The caulking in house is already cracking & the corners of many rooms are cracking. I come home the other day with a giant hole in my front yard with no warning so i had no idea it was going to take place and was told they needed to run stuff (Electric) for the other part of development. No one told me that my front yard was the right of easement i guess we are supposed to know this.m It has been 5 days and ...

For the price paid, the builder should hire painters and workers who will pay more attention to details. The materials put into the home are great, but the way in which it was thrown together is a hug disappointment. Even after the initial and final walk they, you mark and it seems the workers shake their head as though they will correct the issues and I can back to find the same things undone.

We recently moved to a brand new valuable home with excitement but turned out to be a miserable life living inside the house from day 1. We are seeing many mice inside the brand new home from day 1. I wish Highland homes should have informed me regarding mice issue in the subdivision to give me a choice to consider to by a house or look somewhere else. If I was informed by Highland homes prior to buying a house regarding mice concern in the subdivision then I would have consider not to by this particular house but look for a house in different area. How common is Jonathan for a name? Prior construction supervisor normalizes and minimizes complaints, (chipped bricks/defaced bricks are normal, there are plenty of leftover bricks, sub-contractors should have installed those "perfect ones", "normal for stairs to squeak" inspite of adding more screws on stair steps, guy who supposedly repaired the squeaks would pass for principal danseur as he carefully descended down the stairs to minimize the squeaks, he is a little bit stocky with matching attitude lol, he could only blame the framer for the squeaks, uneven wood stain application, rough ...

Construction quality is not up to the mark. Not sure if they actually do those quality checks they say they so. You find several problems after their quality check. There were several items being worked on even after closing and have several issues still bein worked on which were reported. It also seems they treat customers differently, some get good attention and some don't. Cleanliness is not their thing... They feel some dirty items are ok when they hand over the home. They own lender company will put you on a higher interest rate even when you give counter offer you received from others. ...

I am writing to you as a very concerned homebuyer. We recently built a house in Jordan Ranch with Highland Homes. While we expected the home buying process to be difficult, we have had quite an unpleasant experience with Highland Homes. From the get-go, there has been significant miscommunication and quality control issues. There have been many emails sent to our salesperson, our contractor and our project manager regarding issues, most recently being the unfinished nature of the house even after closing. There were multiple issues that were to be resolved before closing but were not. All of ...

Craftsmanship is poor. Quality of build is poor. Contractors are sloppy, framing not straight or flush and bowed requiring heavy warranty work. Walls not fully painted even after final walk through. Flooring scratched. Highland homes full of excuses; example two cabinet drawers touch when fully opened and the response provided was “both drawers shouldn’t be open together”. Unacceptable excuses to get the job completed correctly.

The experience overall was very stressful, and it didn’t need to be. There was a lack of communication; questions never answered, problems not addressed in a timely fashion that would have saved Highland time and money, and would have given us an enjoyable experience. The quality of materials used and craftsmanship of the installation of the materials was mostly poor. Very disappointing in such careless, lack of pride for their trade and other trades. Most tradesmen didn’t know their craft. Nor did they respect the home of the future buyer or us the buyer. An example would be wood trim ...

Very unsatisfied with the responsiveness of our contractor at Veramendi location. Many of the same issues were brought up multiple times with clear communication on our end regarding quality of workmanship and incomplete work. The contractor would make excuses and often times would not even be aware that the various tradesmen never showed up to complete work. Disappointed to see on our final walkthrough that several of these issues still remained unresolved. Weeks after moving in we are still trying to complete the list and take time off from our busy schedules to be available for the work ...

I will leave it very short and simple. If Highland really cares, they will reach out to me for details. It is a VERY GOOD thing they had a pandemic to blame for each and every failure that came to pass on this build. In my opinion, it is only about making money for them with no care to the buyer and it is built into the contract to ensure that. If you chose to buy from Highland, invest in personal lubricant stock first.
