Responsiveness to work orders is poor.

Customer service is very very Bad

Very disappointed. Was encouraged to buy a Highland home for the quality and their workmanship reputation but this is not what I have experienced. The quality of products used is of a very low grade material, the wood trim in the house has very noticeable blemishes, knots and bumps and is very rough causing the paint to constantly flake off. The kitchen sink immediately rusted, it was replaced promptly but it is still a low grade quality stainless so it stains and spots up and if a pan is set in it for a minute it rust the sink, I have never had any of my stainless steel sinks do this. The floors look like a wash board, very uneven they look terrible also they still have glue on them that they have not been able to get off after three attempts. I was told by Highland you cant get concrete even and you can only smooth out so much of an area with the human arm span??? Really this is insulting to my intelligence, I have had tile and wood floors installed in my previous homes and it did not look like this, there are products to prevent this when done properly. The ceiling and walls show defects badly the ceilings have waves this is caused when the sheet rock is not done properly. Many issues have been fixed like one of many the tile work that had been broken on installation where they just grouted between the break instead of replacing. The concrete work at the front entrance and the patio is terrible the entrance was refinished twice but still looks awful so with all this I worry now about the integrity of the slab. When I went to clean out the windows out I found two fly's that were in there when they painted and they just painted over the top of the fly's. Clearly the contractors they use are low grade as well and they obviously don't care and no one from Highland cares either or supervises these contractors. The blinds they installed are the cheapest possible, they want stay in place. I have no confidence in the quality, stability and integrity of this home I feel like that with this many things wrong that we have seen and are still finding, how many major things are wrong that we cannot see and have not come to light yet and will fall apart after the warranty is out and before they should. It is so disappointing and has stressed me out so much and has made it impossible for me to enjoy my new home. I think the amount of money paid for this home warrants better products and workmanship this was not a low end home. I have owned several homes and this is the worst conditions and experience I have ever incurred. I would welcome and challenge someone from the Corporate Highland homes office to come see my house, I would love to hear their opinion after they have walked through this house. I don't know if something has happened with Highland that has driven the quality and workmanship to go down hill or maybe just an initiative to cut cost to make more money at the home owners expense or the people just do not care anymore. Where is quality control? At this point I would say be very cautious if you are considering a Highland home. The guys at the local field office I have dealt with have been responsive but this does not make up for the issues that I have found. This is not the way I planned on starting retirement I thought I was securing my future with a Highland home. Now I wonder if I have invested poorly and possibly jeopardized my future stability. ... Wish I could say better things - but very disappointed overall.

Highland Homes are beautiful but they seem to lack the quality a home at this price point deserves. From small things like caulking, cabinets, landscaping and heating and cooling. The buyer really has to pay attention to the whole home. I feel like I needed an inspector with me as I went thru the home. Highland has a great reputation but the experience was a major let down. There should be a quality manager that ensures the workmanship meets Highland Homes standards and reputation.

Pranay - since we moved to this house we have odor smell issue which is from WWTP and he is beside of our house. While signing I have asked sales team what was that and they have said it is some water plant and they didn’t mentioned about about WWTP. We are getting that smell in our bedrooms. I didn’t expect this kind of customer service with false stamtement before signing the contracts.

We signed a contract on a fully framed house at the end of November 2021 to close in April latest May and we ended up closing in mid August, 2022. It’s almost as if they were stringing us along for 9 months hoping that we would back out and sell the home for a higher price. After 9 months of waiting, we are in a “new” home that has electrical issues, AC issues, and a bunch of things done in hurry that looks unfinished. One AC vent started to rattle so loud in under a month it’ll wake me up at night. The driveway looks like it took some damage and they just threw concrete at it and didn’t even smith it out. Everyone on the block (including those with the same home design) has an additional side garden and we don’t. There is only one spigot attached to the home and it’s not even conveniently placed near the garden or back. Maybe it’s for the neighbor to use. Not thoughtful at all. We should be compensated for having to manage the completion of our home, post closing. This is our third new home in four years and this is by far the worst experience. The build process, the attention to detail, the finished product upon delivery at closing was despicable. Had interest rate‘s not been rising we would have made them complete it but my gut is they’re impotent when it comes to fine detail and quality as they were known a few years ago. Three months in our kitchen is still unfinished, we are still pressing the construction team to complete items every day. We have been managing a spreadsheet of simple things. I understand that the tradesmen are a major issue but Highland should add more staff or employed directly to obtain the level of completion and detail that we expect on an $800,000 house. It is so bad in our new neighborhood that a group of Highland owners gathered in the street and talked about a class action lawsuit because of the quality, workmanship, and issues that we are finding in the property. Add to the mix all the homes under construction, the beer cans the trash, the trash, the trash and it’s obvious why our homes are not finished. When you walk a property in there are alcohol containers inside or on the outside such as our house and our neighbors house that is a clue. We feel like educated, experienced, reasonable buyers since we’ve done this with two companies over three new homes across for years. This process that is still unfinished three months after closing Has been the worst nine months in our marriage because we have argued in battles over should we stay or should we go and that continues on a daily basis and that is all due to Highland lack of attention to detail or respect for customers. We will never buy from them again and every person that I talk to I tell our experience and advise them to avoid Highland homes. I feel for their local sales reps and construction lead, the main organization should do more to help the employees serve the customer. I likened our experience to their previous manager when I said have you ever stood on the assembly line of your new dodge pick up and made sure that the corporation was putting every piece where it needed to go, every fit and finish with perfect? Do you get frustrated when you have to take your vehicle back for a recall? We have purchased something that is 14 times the value of your truck and yet on a daily basis we are having to manage the construction and completion of this home and you would never go for that for your new pick up. Overall a horrible experience, and I don’t get angry as I look at my kitchen countertop that is still incomplete, missing molding, while I make coffee Everywhere in this house to include barn doors that are 2 inches too small for the opening is a reminder that unless we argue, push, fight for what we paid for Island homes will do their best to take advantage of us. ... The subcontractors were abysmal. The sheetrock seams are horrible. The "finish" work on the trim looks like a child put it in. The concrete in the driveway, garage and patio are pitted, gouged, and have boot prints in them. As I write this, the master closet ceiling and upstairs bathroom vanity are torn out as water is leaking through the ceiling. The absence of professionalism even extended to unhuman behavior such as urinating in the shower to the point where the smell prevented us from going into the house, and there was even feces rubbed on the painted wall in the bedroom upstairs. Terrible experience overall. I will say, Mike with the mortgage company needs a mask and cape because he was superman. Tyler, our second Builder has done her absolute level best to correct issues we had so I would rate her 5 stars. If you end up with Eric as your builder, cancel and walk away. He doesn't care at all. He is extremely unprofessional, including having trades eating and sleeping in my home during our scheduled meeting which he was late to. You will not get a quality home if he builds it, request Tyler, she is hands and feet above him in treatment and physicall quality.

Lots of issues with home, every time contractor comes to fix one problem another one occurs. Last time I’ll buy a highland home

Highland homes are great, quality is fair but support is terrible. Just the hassle wasnt worth it.

We purchased our home three months ago, and have had severe plumbing issues ever since. Our construction manager has been great, but they had to dig a hole in our guest bedroom, they pumped a brick out of the upstairs plumbing and removed wood and debris from our downstairs plumbing. We were without adequate plumbing for nearly 2 months. And had construction workers in and out for nearly a month. We had to stay in a hotel for several days and were displaced for quite some time. We also have not been offered any compensation other than them fixing their mistakes. I have called the office, and left messages via their contact us links on the website. No one has called back. When you are buying a house at this price point you definitely should not be having these types of issues. ... More

During the purchase of the home, everything was great and we were assured that Highland Homes takes care of their buyers before and after the purchase. We have found that to be untrue. Our experience after moving in has been very poor. We still do not have a working stove exhaust hood and we have been in the home for over a month now. We have a ceiling fan making a loud noise and when the warranty manager came to look at it he explained that it doesn't make the noise if we keep the fan on low. This is the fix?! You have got to be kidding me! We have an exterior back door that has warped and the security sensor keeps giving us a false unauthorized entry alert. Again, the warranty manager came to look at it and said he would have the security company move and realign the sensor. This is the fix?! Leave a warped door on our brand new home and move the sensor. We are extremely frustrated and need help from Highland Homes Upper Management. Please help us. ... More

Too many build quality issues. Concerned they will not fix some of them. Most materials used are of low quality. Installation of many items not done well. Very slow to address issues.

I wish I had good things to say about my home. I was incredibly invested, spent quite literally hundreds of hours doing research, reading contracts, working with my builder on the home, and trying to build relationships with the Highland team. I've never felt like my partner in any project put forward so little effort as Highland did across the board. I was talked down to by my sales person, ignored by my design center specialist, and lied to by my construction manager. On top of all of that, once I left reviews and messages for management, I never got a call back to address any concerns I had. Do your research regarding EVERY home builder, the craftsmanship, the integrity, the build and do not just go off beautiful model homes or beautiful, new communities. Do your research on WHO you can expect living in a brand new area, try to avoid sales talk at all times and be your own salesperson / get a team you personally trust who will have your best interest at heart. Build with a company who builds fairly, prices fairly even if it is more than you want it to be, but focus on all the small details, quality, the different crews and how they treat your property, and any and all members who you have to deal with along the way making sure you state your requirements and expectations. Don't let too much time go by wasted without a lack of responses, handing things poorly with communication, quality, and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who will only make it stressful for you and the environment. Document everything, take pictures of everything, and if your budget is being overstretched, consider going with another reputable, high-quality, more designer so you can actually get what you want and what you expected from the beginning. LOCATION and area is everything, and who is all going to live in your community. Keeping in mind HOA will not do much nor help much at all even though you pay them each month - they are only there to ensure the community looks pretty, stays uniformed and has events to celebrate. ... Sia and Miya were horrible in the end!! The beginning was great!! Until they received our money then it was crickets, no response to any emails no returned phone calls or texts. Daniel started off slow with responding but ended up being awesome.

Not to the standard that we expected. We've been living here for 3 months and the issues are still not completed. We keep finding more the longer we live here. Would not recommend Highland Homes to anyone

The whole experience was incredibly disappointing and stressful. The house had several issues pre and post closing. Our walk through was an ever long list of problems and severe lack of attention to details. We were promised a home with the same quality as a model home and the delivery could not be far from it. Our kitchen cabinets are uneven, doorknobs are falling and not properly placed, bath sinks have leeks, kitchen sink is supposed to be stainless steel yet it has several stains that do not come off even with use of professional products. My experience with Highland Homes has been poor. First using their partner lender, they increased the amount of down payment I owed by $8K at the 11th hour for something they could have found out months in advance. Once I moved into the house, the finish work on some of the tile, paint, and door casings was actually terrible. All of the issues of the home inspection have still yet to be resolved. I closed on Dec 16 and am writing this on Feb 3. Highland preaches their build quality and customer service and I have not had a positive experience with either.

I would advise others to be careful with this builder. Quality of my home was not anything like the model and home has many design issues with many repairs needed again and again. Don’t believe the stories of company values and how they always do the right thing. They don’t. When you need help with repairs and general problems with your home they will turn their back on you.

Ana the sales lady for highland homes in Mustang lakes is never at work and is completely not responsive, to get in touch, to make an offer by us or our agent was terrible. The only experience worse than that, is the builder Brian. Highland signed documentation to complete work within 2 weeks of closing. It’s been 2 months and not a thing has been done. We either are ignored or straight lied to. We have missed multiple days of work to be here for work to be done, only for no one to show and no response from Highland. I would not recommend anyone buy a home with highland. We have already sent 3 prospective buyers to other builders (2 in contract) in mustang lakes. In an effort to keep this review brief, I will only list our general experience. Communication with our construction manager was poor throughout our build process. Our home inspector identified enough items to complete a 30-page report and we nearly walked away due to the severity of some of the issues. A mere two months after closing we have had 18 (yes 18 and counting-with at least 5 more visits pending) repair visits to address/rectify the multitude of problems with the home. Highland has the potential to be one of the, if not the best, builders in the area, however, the quality and workmanship fall short on nearly every level.
