Extremely disappointed with workmanship and “their process”. Re-doing things 4 & 5 times is not a process. It’s poor quality & oversight. There was basically none. We had to be there everyday to point out the errors which for the most part they ignored. We would not recommend Highland Homes based on this experience. We’ve built numerous homes between the two of us and none of them have been this poor.

I have bought two houses from Highland and have a great experience both times.

Robbie & Nelli were great to work with. With them I could count on responsiveness and professionalism.

I am a 68 year old Disabled Vietnam Veteran. With my service, family, Pastoral Ministry, and pursuit of education, I owed a house almost 42 years ago. I did not have it very long. So, from parsonages to rent houses and living on the wife's family property, I had no retirement and no home to retire to. At this point, I was introduced to Highland Homes. They offered me a well built home with plenty of incentives with an affordable price. They also provided help to find Texas VA financing. It is the largest house that I ever lived in. I love the house, but I hate living on a street with active crews. Not just American Legend, but Highland crews too. They are messy, noisy and inconsiderate.

There were some minor cosmetic issues that were addressed quickly. Awesome team to work with.

Melissa (builder) and Julie (sales) were both incredibly responsive and helpful. Couldnt ask for better people to work with. This is especially true when we originally had no timeline which turned into a strict deadline. They went above and beyond to get us in our house ahead of or first born arriving. Would highly recommend working with them and certainly would work with them again in the future.

Very happy with our new home. Did have some issues with incorrect tile being installed and not caught until the day we closed. Doug helped us get everything switched out immediately to the correct style. Very happy with the tall ceilings and bay window in the master bedroom.

The Sales Counselor was honest and up front with every request we made. He stayed on top of the build and worked closely with us! The Project Leader building our home also was great to work with. I had a 3rd party inspection done which identified a hand full of concerns. All but 3 where very minor. The Project Leader requested a copy and addressed every point of concern and corrected any problems on a timely bases without question! The team we worked with was outstanding and made us feel like family! I would highly recommend them!

There were several issues discussed during the first, and only, walk through (I was promised two walkthroughs before the closeout; but, Nick, the builder, refused to do a second one) and the issues were not covered between the walkthrough and the closeout. The day of the closeout, Nick had someone pulling blue tape off the walls (blue tape indicates areas needing touch-up) but no work was being performed. The garage door was supposed to be fixed, it was not, the texture on the entrance hallway was supposed to have been fixed, it was not, he had the sprinkler system running every day and now there are runoff lines in the lawn, those were shrugged off, the sprinkler system has had issues “not running,” and leaks, the front door is missing screws, nick has yet to address this issue, Nick promised me on the first walkthrough he would get me a price on a solid core door for my wife’s office, this took an extraordinarily long time and when I replaced the door the top hinge jam side screws were completely stripped, like there’s not a stud back there. I was supposed to be put in touch with the painter so my wife could have a few rooms painted before we moved in, that never happened. ... More

Builder responded in timely and made the buying, inspection, and move in process quite easy.

Ensure work is done thoroughly and you have looked at everything. The contractors tend to miss things here and there.

WE PURCHASED IN SANDBROCK RANCH. WE HAVE HAD WEEKLY ISSUES WITH THE HOUSE. THE ON GOING ISSUE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM . ITS NOT JUST US, ITS NUMEROUS HIGHLAND HOMEOWNERS IN SANDBROCK WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE BREAKERS TRIP BECAUSE THE CODES ARE STRIC, BUT OTHER BUILDERS ARE NOT HAVING THE SAME ISSUES

I gave stated this before that while my house was be built it was very difficult to get progress reports from our builder . Now we are also working with the warranty division on a serious paint issue on our kitchen cabinets.

We love our home, but nobody should finish a building project and wish things were different or with plans to fix things on your own at a later date. Unfortunately that was our experience. Our process began with a new hire running our design meeting. We were given no direction, no choices, and he had very few answers to questions we asked regarding upgrades. Having now gone through the process, there should have been a book or list to direct the choices we were being asked to make. Through the beginning of building our construction manager was great about updating us weekly as to what would be happening, but 5 weeks in her updates disappeared and would only answer emails on her timetable. She was completely unavailable outside of very limited set hours, which required us to take time off of work to come meet with her onsite. Late in the process we learned that our brick we chose was not updated in the showroom. The color we thought we had picked had been changed by the manufacturer and never updated the sample in the office. Highland did try to help by allowing us to change the trim colors to brighten the house, but it doesn’t change the fact our brick is not what what we intended it to be. Finally, our final walkthrough was so disappointing. The number of touch ups needed, damaged items, and unfinished projects were astounding. Our project manager assured us it would be done within 5 days of closing, but 6 weeks later we were finally finishing up the final walkthrough punch list. I know no house will ever be perfect, there will always be imperfections that only you the homeowner sees, but that unfortunately was not the case here. Corporations are simply a legal entity that is composed of people. The people make the organization. The people at Highland Homes in Star Trail have impeccable character and integrity. They are trustworthy and fair. You cannot ask for more from a home builder. I can highly recommend Highland without any reservations.

Our sales agent was amazing and our second CM has been wonderful, but unfortunately, some mistakes are too expensive and work-intensive to resolve at this point. Our first CM made a slew of mistakes -- misframed walls, crooked island, and we ended up with a sewage backup within the first week, of living in our new home. We definitely wish we'd had an inspector come out for the predrywall walk and again before closing. GET A GOOD INSPECTOR! However, overall, we are loving our home and our new CM has been very empathetic and good to work with in correcting issues that we can still resolve. While there are things we wish we'd done differently during the building / inspection process, we don't regret going with Highland and would recommend them to our friends and family. ... More

Lot unfinished work need to be done. T Jet tub not working.

After 1 month closing. The grand new AC has issues. AC leaking water down to the ceiling and dripped to the floor. Highland Contractor just repaint the effected area. Big Tex still don’t know what happened to the AC. Same thing happened after 2 weeks. Called Big Tex Emergency many times nobody respond. Very disappointed.
