I was very disappointment with the whole process. First the tile and the flooring, back splash was installed with the incorrect ones from the ones I chose. The house was not complete for our first walk through and we had to do another one which had a lot of issues also. We are now having issues with leaking in our roof and has damaged the drywall in our garage. The water meter is leaking and has caused me to have a very high water bill. This issues all have been dealt with but I feel that this should not have even happened in the first place. I think it was poor workmanship and materials that caused the problem but as a home builder it should be your job to manage these issues from occurring. ... More

My husband and I thought we did our due diligence in researching different builders. We chose highland homes because of their great reviews and the praise they received by close friends and family. Anytime I would tell someone which builder we were going with, the response would always be “I love highland homes”. Our builder was super nice and once the building process began, he was really great at sending weekly updates of what was going on and what they were working on. I’m not sure if it was because there were so many other homes going up at the same time as ours (our builder did state that there was 2 other homes closing on the same day as us) or what went wrong, but I definitely feel as though they hired cheap, third party contractors and other construction workers that they typically don’t use. Upon moving in, our cabinets weren’t closing properly, our house wasn’t properly cleaned (paint stains on bathroom floors), hallway lights weren’t working, under the master bath sink was dirty, chips/scratches in wood flooring, our outside brick paint (which we paid extra for) was thin and you could see the red brick coming through, our dining chandelier wasn’t centered, our master bath counters weren’t fully glued down, crooked baseboards, our ceiling Sheetrock is not flat/can see where the sheets intersect and the worst of all- a master shower leak which required 1.5 weeks of in depth fixing. Our builder was really great at coming in to fix things in a timely manner but overall, the work just seemed pretty sloppy and it was disappointing to move into your brand new home and pretty much live in a construction zone as workers came in and out fixing things that should’ve already been done to begin with. Complete experience was great! Both sales and builder listened to any issues we had and resolved them all to our satisfaction.

We looked at all the new home builders in our area and would not have made any other choice. Highland quality shows the second you walk in and after living in our home for a month our choice to build Highland did not disappoint! We love it. Everyone kept asking how our build was going through the process. They make it easy and seamless. We’ve recommended Highland to everyone and have tried to get everyone we know to move closer to us to share the same great experience! 5 stars!

They'll overcharge you for upgrades. But realistically, adding ALL the upgrades only gets you to today's standard. Most of their basic fixtures and options are dated. Don't get me wrong, everyone is very nice, but these are cookie cutter homes with yesterday's design. It'll take a lot more investment to sell.

I would say without a doubt that the true reason for our love for our new home stems from the tremendous sales team here at Highlands at Mayfield Ranch! Both Lyn and her Assistant Linda were exemplary. Id recommend this builder and especially these two wonderful ladies to anyone looking for a new home. The plans offered are spectacular and the builder makes good use of the space.

I was excited to move into my new Highland home, but I had some bad experience after I moved in. I had electrical issues the first week I moved in. My gas stove, most of my outlets and garbage disposal stop working. I also had plumbing issues. I took a bath in my stand alone bath and when I emptied the water out it all went into my shower pan almost causing a big flood of zooer water in my master bath. My toilet also got clog. The same occured my daughters bathroom. For two days I did not have access to both bathrooms. Thank goodness I have a third bathroom. I was disappointed that my first two weeks turned out this way in my new home. The builder over my home project has not been to great with my concerns. ... More

I'm highly satisfied the business with the highlands homes. Our bulier Mr. Luke did an excellent job with us and very professional. No delay on any small request we were asking, very responsive and professional. I highly recommend him to my friends who are looking for a new community in future.

Couldn’t be happier!

Once you move in you'll appreciate all the attention to the homeowner's actual living such as the wider driveways and wider lead walks to the front doors. That they cared enough to spend extra money before entering the home. The impressive roof pitches help the Texas hot air escape out of the attic as well give elegant curbside appeal. Every employee is an owner and it shows in their commitment.

Overall, we are pleased with the finished product. We found it easy to work with the builder and their response to warranty requests has been timely.

Home is average, had multiple issues upon moving in but the service and timeliness to tend to the issues were excellent. I must commend the sales/ construction management team on their service, but I would not buy nor recommend a Highland home to anyone.

I was not looking forward to the process of building a new home based on homebuilding experiences I'd heard from others. Highland Homes made the process not only easy with lots of guidance but even rather enjoyable.
