We are beyond pleased with our new home. From our first meeting with Linda in the sales office to post-closing small details with Don (and all parts in between), we always felt that we were valued and respected. We have been in our home long enough to receive full-month utility bills. The home is truly energy efficient and very comfortable. We thank you, Highland Homes and your great Woodforest team, for exceeding our expectations!

When moving to Bridgeland, we had hoped to build a Highland Home, but expected we would have to sacrifice size or features to construct one at our price point. Surprisingly, our sales associate considered our requests, picked a great plan and elevation, and provided considerable upgrades, while remaining in our budget. Constructing and financing through a Highland affiliate resulted in a seamless process, one in which it only took 3 months to construct and close on our home.

First, I love my home. The design, amount of space for the price and the high ceilings are my favorite aspects of the house.

If you are getting the attention that you deserve when looking for a home, like we did from Highland, stick with it. They will help you every step of the way.

Love my new home but there should be more attention to the little details that stand out once you move in. Maybe not so rushed to make sure everything is correct. Overall I would rate a 4 out of 5 stars. There’s always room for improvement!

I love my home but there are things that highland does not offer that my last 2 builds did. I built an over $300k home and the lights they put in the bathroom cost $15. I wanted to upgrade those lights but it was not allowed. I wanted a seat in my shower, but it wasn’t allowed, I wanted a farm sink but it wasn’t allowed. I had all those things in my $338k home in Ohio. Other than that the home is beautiful and Shawn has been amazing.

All has been great with the exception of our backyard holding water. Cant get issue resolved via the builder or warranty... mosquitoes/ mud/ dog... needs french drain or crushed granite to resolve..

This was my first new home “build” from picking home plan to selecting colors and materials. I can’t say enough good things about the professionalism of all Highland Homes employees. The service provided by the design center, the ease of completing documents to get the process and my selections priced, the pre-construction meeting was very helpful and gave me a chance to make sure all the add ons I wanted were included. The construction project manager was the best! He answered “all” inquiries within a few hours or minutes and followed through on everything, I’m not sure without Rich B. this entire process would have been the success it has been! On trim work inside and out side had areas of paint run off. Sloppy paint work.

Chris was our builder and did an excellent job. He is very responsive, is on top of everything and is nice to work with.

This is our third new build over the years and by far the best experience. From working with sales for the initial purchase to the updates and responsiveness from the project manager Brady. I’m addition, the quality of the build is the best we have had yet. Highland was recommended to us and we will definitely recommend to others as well.

The entire process of buying the home to the final move in, was so smooth! Chase was our go to man, and communication was above and beyond. The Highland team takes pride in building homes and provided us with a beautiful home of quality and luxury. Highly recommend.

If I have one negitive thing to say, it would be bathroom drawers are to small & kitchen cabinets needed to be a little deeper. Other than that they're a quality excellent home.

My wife and I love the home; however, our AC unit is not up to par. The temp in the house is 72 degrees, but the humidity level has been as high as 83%. We bought a small portable dehumidifier to help control the humidity level to something a little more tolerable, like 50-55%.

This is the first time we build a house and we are really happy that we chose Highland Homes, They delivered the house on time.Shane was our builder and he was always available to hear us out. He always had really good ideas when we were not able to decide on what we want. He was very responsive and patient through out the process. We had the home inspection done by a third party vendor and he was impressed by the quality of work done. We would highly recommend Highland Homes to any friends and family who are planning on building a house.

Finding the plan to build the perfect home is the easy part. What sets Highland Homes apart from the rest is the support you will get during the construction of your home and after closing. Every new home will have bumps along the way, how those issues are handled is what is most important. Daniel, my builder, and Anita, my sales person, always made sure these issues were resolved. They both really emphasized they wanted us to be happy with our purchase. After building 5 homes, you don't see that kind of "old fashioned" work ethic very often. All the extra effort was appreciated.

I purchased a home at Waterscape in Royse City. The masonry work and painters’ workmanship is very poor. Baseboards are as crooked as a politician. I do not know how Highland is regarded as being “the best”. However, I will say most of everything has been fixed so far, but why not do it correctly the first time, or at least have it corrected prior to closing. The sales portion of the build was the easiest. The staff at Highland go out of their way to help you with whatever you need. Overall, it was a positive experience.

I have been pretty happy throughout the process. Several of the issues I have logged were resolved quickly. The only outstanding issue is one of the biggest. There is standing water on both the side and back yard far longer than acceptable(48 hours). I have requested resolution since the day I bought the house but the issue has not been resolved. It is a good thing it is not against the directly foundation but considering the size of the yard it is not acceptable to have standing water in those areas.

We’ve bought several new homes in the past 20 years and I must say this is the worst by far in regards to quality, workmanship and service. We selected Highland in Wright’s Landing 50’s based on the advice of our broker and the fact that our last neighborhood in May Valley only had Highland and Village Builder homes - which were of superb quality. The appeal of selecting an employer owned company was also attractive because of the assumed personal attachment to the craftsmanship, quality and details of the finished product. The contractors used in the construction process simply either don’t care or are incompetent or both. Sadly, construction management does little to reinforce these issues. The experience was so disappointing, that the director of construction management for the greater Houston area changed project managers after we closed on the home because of his ineptitude. The second construction manager was much, much better but unfortunately it was too late to change our perception of Highland. It is hard to believe that painters would be sent out 5 times to retouch the same spot on a wall, which is still shoddy. Can you believe that we were told by their electricians that it is acceptable for our lights to dim and flicker when we vacuum or use a blender because this is a byproduct of the house’s energy efficient design? (We were literally told this by Highland electricians two weeks ago). Their main concern was to get us to sign the affidavit, which we begrudgingly did due to the exhaustion from this process. We are embarrassed to tell family and friends that our new home is a Highland product and to tell them the unfinished, sloppy concrete stories (which still exist) or the tacky cabinet and doors finishes issues (which I am looking at now). It’s interesting to note that the sales experience was amazing. This poor rating addresses the pre and post construction process and poor customer service related issues. At this time, we would not recommend Highland to anyone and would welcome a phone call or visit from one of their executives. ... More

Everything is very transparent

Enormous demand for new homes has created an environment where subcontractors hire semi-trained or even untrained workers (on the job training). Their work is many times simply sloppy and sometimes unbelievably bad. The Highland supervisors ensure that work is performed to code, but that does not mean work is high quality. A new buyer must constantly question things that do not look "normal", and get them fixed before closing. i.e Highland "cheaped out" and did not put in foundation drip lines on the automatic sprinkler system; this should be standard on your new Texas home. Make sure wood trim is cut with tools, not box knives. Make sure the cheap kitchen appliances are upgraded, because Highland uses low-level kitchen appliances. Make sure the yard is graded correctly to prevent large puddles and mud holes, especially if you have children playing back there. Make sure you purchase 3-way switches for all areas where there s entry from two separate directions. Make sure you use the Highland warranty system to fix all the poor workmanship because you only have 1 year to get it fixed - some folks had been working for many months to get items fixed, nothing occurred until the continuous use of the online warranty system was the only way to finally get things fixed (again, because the building managers seemed to be too busy to remember the small stuff). Remember that sheetrock errors are MUCH easier to fix before the paint is applied. With that said, you should always get the builder to fix texture and paint errors at any stage of the game - but it is most effective before closing on your home. Highland is MUCH more responsive before closing than after closing (again, to busy for small stuff). Finally, get some help from some building experts to help you find all the errors before closing time. ... More
