My wife and I began looking at homes about a year ago and met Amy (Sales consultant) for the first time there; after that meeting, Amy worked tirelessly to find us our forever home. It has everything we had ever wanted in a home and more! The building supervisor D’Marco was amazing and extremely responsive to any questions we had or any help needed. The overall process from touring to the finalized purchase was extremely smooth and would recommend highland homes to anyone who is on the fence for a builder.

The Highland Homes team has been so helpful during the whole process. Debbie, Lindsay, and Priyam have been super nice for a first-time home buyer like us. My wife and I were nervous moving from a different state, but they made the whole process so seamless and easy for us. All the details were explained thoroughly. All the documentation was provided as requested, on a timely basis. All the issues found during inspection were quickly addressed, and the end product delivered is of very high quality. There have been regular follow-ups to check our pulse and make us comfortable in our new home. We chose Highland Homes based on their reputation for quality, communication, and strong warranty service. Our construction experience reflected that—everything went smoothly, and Danny, our construction manager, was outstanding. He communicated clearly, stayed on top of the timeline, and made the entire build process seamless. Danny deserves a full 5 stars. Unfortunately, our experience with the warranty side has been the complete opposite. A month after moving in, our backyard tree died, despite plenty of rain and proper yard maintenance. Additionally, a gate hinge had come loose—likely due to wind sometime between our final walkthrough and closing. While I fully understand that no one is perfect and there are rules and disclosures in place to prevent misuse of warranty services, the issue wasn’t the problems themselves—it was how they were handled. Nate, our assigned warranty manager, came across as dismissive from the start. He offered excuses for every concern, spoke to my wife in a condescending tone, and seemed more focused on defending himself and Highland than listening and empathizing. During my own conversation with Nate, I found myself frustrated—not because I didn’t get my way, but because of the complete lack of empathy or ownership. He made sure to mention his accolades with the company, which seemed more like a justification for not helping than a way to reassure us. I did apologize to him for getting frustrated, but throughout the entire interaction, he never once said something as simple as, “I’m sorry you’re dealing with this.” A little empathy and common sense would’ve gone a long way. In the end, I reached back out to Danny, who kindly helped us address a few lingering issues. I truly appreciate that, and again, Danny is a major asset to Highland Homes. But unfortunately, Nate's approach to customer service left a bad taste in what was otherwise a positive experience. It’s disappointing because it wasn’t about getting everything covered—it was about being heard and treated with respect. The process they have with pre-closing and home orientation is flawed. We had several items on the list to be fixed but the focus was on closing and not finishing the punchlist. We have been closed for almost two months and are still trying to resolve issues. Highland needs to have an independent quality check prior to closing. They say they do but they don’t. After we closed we came to the house and our cooktop was in the floor because it did not fit, which was an issue for weeks prior to closing which they had time to fix but just could get it done. The whole Team at Walsh was fantastic and professional. Tyler and Todd were amazing and exceeded all expectations!!! Made building our first home a great experience.

Purchasing a home while living in another state could have been stressful but Jeremy and Andrew were super responsive to our emails and texts and keeping us updated on the process of building our new home. Love our floorplan (Birchwood) and the finishes and options we chose.

Conner and Gracie we're Fantastic to work with from start to finish. We love our Highland Home.

If you’re considering working with Highland Homes and their preferred lender—don’t. This has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences of my life, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. They had our loan documents for months, and every time they asked for updated paperwork, we responded immediately. And to be clear—none of the delays were due to issues with our approval or finances. We were fully qualified. The only thing standing in the way was their incompetence. Somehow, our paperwork still “got lost in the shuffle.” One week before closing, they casually informed us the deal would need to be postponed because they still hadn’t sent the documents to the VA. That delay? It cost us another 39 days, forced my family into temporary housing, and added an incredible amount of stress to what should have been an exciting time. Throughout this nightmare, there was a constant game of blame ping-pong. No accountability. No urgency. Just a whole lot of “not my department.” And if that wasn’t enough—now that we’ve been in the house for nearly two months, we still can’t receive mail. Why? Because the developer forgot to install mailboxes on our street. You read that right: mailboxes. Gone. Missing. Never installed. Despite repeated visits to the post office and escalating the issue, Highland Homes has done absolutely nothing to resolve it. Just more deflection, delay, and disinterest. When you spend $1.2 million, you expect a minimum level of competence and customer service. What we got was a masterclass in how not to take care of your buyers. We had an excellent and easy experience with buying our Highland home. Tina, the salesperson helped us understand the steps we needed to follow to purchase the home. She was knowledgeable and patient in answering all of our questions. She had a very reassuring and positive personality. Whitaker, who was supervisor of the building of our home, was attentive and responsive through the purchasing process. He was aware of every aspect of how things were supposed to work in our home. He gave us confidence in the quality of the home. He ensured that everything was in tip-top shape. We had done some research home on builders and Highland had very good reviews. We love our home and the style that Highland offers. We loved every choice of materials used in our home and I believe a salesperson, Avery, picked them out. ... More

Expect a good experience with Highland Homes. Our sales person, Tony, was super helpful explaining everything about buying our home. The design center personnel were easy to work with and helped us make the best choices. We have been very pleased with our warranty experience so far. Jack and team have been very responsive to all our questions and had the various teams complete the warranty work very quickly and thoroughly. We’re pleased with our decision to purchase a Highland Homes.

We were beyond impressed with our experience with Highland Homes. Throughout the building process, Conner (our builder) sent us thorough updates about the process of our new build. When we met in person, we never felt rushed. We really appreciated his attention to detail - he would remember small things we told him about and make it happen! Since we have moved in to our house, he has been stellar at addressing our warranty requests quickly and following up to make sure we don't have any other concerns. From the very beginning when we met with Lula our sales counselor, we knew this was the best decision for us and our family. Lula was with us from start to finish and we couldn't be happier having her as our sales counselor. I was a bit nervous at fist we weren't going to speaking with Lula as much during the build but Preston our construction Manager really went above and beyond this gentlemen is the reason why I would build with Highland Again. Preston is professional, knowledgable, sincere, kind and listened to every single one of our questions and concerns and he took the extra time out of his day to always communicate with us whether it was via email or phone call. I had a great homebuying experience with Highland Homes. I spent several months house shopping, and the floor plan I found with Highland Homes was different from all of the other new construction homes I looked at. My home appears to be well built with quality materials. Jack is my current point of contact for any warranty matters that arise. He is professional and extraordinarily responsive. Thus far, Highland Homes appears to be a company that stands behind its quality and workmanship.

Highland is a really goog company to work in my opinion the better

We had looked at a few homes from other companies but felt like the craftsmanship for the size home we wanted was lacking. We loved that Highland paid attention to all the details! Working with sales was easy and straightforward. Financing was a breeze. They had us in our new home in less than 3 weeks from the time looked at the house. After sales experience has been great. We are 100% satisfied with our experiences and highly recommend Highland Homes.

There were some miscommunications and moments of friction during the process, but in the end, Highland did come through and delivered a good-quality home. To future buyers: do not wait until the final walk through to start identifying issues - start early, while the home is still under construction. Be proactive, visit the site often, and keep detailed notes. This will help you and Highland work together toward delivering a more complete and accurate final product. Some details fell through the cracks at the design center -for example, the tile behind the mirrors in the master bath, which was not included in the final build (we assumed it would be, since it was shown in the model). Do not assume something is included, verify. That said, we had to reference our paperwork multiple times and advocate for items that were supposed to be included. There appears to be a disconnect between Highland corporate, the sales/design team, and the contractors doing the actual construction. On more than one occasion, we had to point out selections that the builders had not been informed of. That said, once issues were raised, Highland was generally responsive and worked with us to make things right. Aside from these challenges, the overall experience and final outcome were positive. Great structural build as we watched it from ground up. They really seal the walls and go overboard with sealing up everything to hold in the warm or cold air . Built with Simpson strong ties all over the place was really happy.

As a business owner—including in the customer experience space—I hold service and quality to a high bar. That’s why I want to shine a spotlight on two exceptional people: Preston, my construction manager, and Renee, my sales counselor. Both went above and beyond in every possible way. Preston held himself and the entire project to incredibly high standards. Every detail mattered to him, and he didn’t let a single one slip through the cracks. His professionalism, responsiveness, and pride in his work were evident from day one. He was not only excellent at his job—he was an absolute joy to work with. Renee was a clear and consistent communicator and made every step of the process feel seamless. She was warm, helpful, and always made sure I felt informed and supported. They both demonstrated the highest level of conscientiousness, and I say without hesitation that I would work with them again in a heartbeat—and sincerely hope to. We had an amazing experience building with Highland Homes. Every member of the sales team was warm and welcoming. We worked the closest with Danielle. She made the whole process smooth and simple. We even changed directions right before signing our contract and she was accommodating and made sure we felt 100% comfortable before moving forward. Lane was our construction manager for our house. He was extremely detail oriented and communicative. He was on top of anything that came up, and was very knowledgeable with any questions we had along the way. Our family enjoyed working with Highland Homes in our house building process. All the answers, from start to finish were answered timely, the whole process was transparent. Both Zach and Cristi were amazing human beings to work with, and I would recommend Highland Homes and two of them to everyone.

After referring Highland Homes, and Zach, to my parents in 2021, I was excited to partner with them to build my home in 2025! The entire team’s excellent communications, the perfect floor plan, and the flexibility with the options made the stressful process of building a home completely enjoyable and exciting! Now that we have moved in, we couldn’t be happier with the end result. A few minor issues since closing have been quickly acknowledged and resolved! Highly recommended!!!!

Whole experience was great from the sale people to the construction manager and the loan people.

This is my first time purchasing a new build so I have nothing to compare my experiences to. This was a forced move for work so not a lot of time to shop around. Highland came highly recommend from my realtor. I looked at 2 Highland homes and on its face I really like them. Completed my "blue tape" walk through (took a vacation day and drove 10 hrs total) where I marked things that needed repaired before closing. I attempted to go over things with a fine toothed comb but it's a lot to look at in a short amount of time. I came back the next week for closing and was assured by the builder all of my stuff was repaired. I arrive at the house and noticed 90% of the things I marked were not fixed, though the blue tape was now removed. I was not a happy camper. What other things did they cover up? I made my concerns known and a few of the bosses arrived and began helping fix items. They assured me multiple people had walked through my house several times, but they must've walked through with their eyes closed to miss all the glaring issues. Things ranged from screws in the door hinges not screwed in, paint splatter all over the laminate flooring, trim not complete nor painted, grout all over the tile, laminate damaged, outlets not installed correctly, and sink leaking (though i was told it was fixed already, yet under the cabinet was still wet). Yes they are willing to fix it. Thankfully you get a bumper to bumper warranty for the first year because you'll need it. After a week of being in the home 5 tiles cracked in the bathroom and a warranty claim was made. I get angry every day knowing what I paid for the house and looking and the poor craftsmanship throughout the house. I will not be a repeat customer! ... More
