Jon, the salesman, was shady and would tell us whatever he thought would get us to sign. Fortunately for us, we always recorded and/or had a witness present to validate our statements. We had to deal directly with the regional lead to finally come to a resolution, including intentionally misleading us regarding the 20k incentive. He was just as deceptive regarding what changes we could make (we wanted a circular tub). After our earnest deposit cleared, it came to light that we couldn’t do that. He also misled us by 2 weeks regarding closing (the date changed within a week after we went under contract and the construction manager had no idea why the salesman had fabricated the completion date). After we moved inC we had continuous issues with the air conditioners and plumbing (hot water would either take more than 6 minutes to actually get hot, or we would lose the hot water mid-shower). It took at least 3 attempts per issue to make progress. We will see if the latest bandaids work or not. Of note, the construction managers (David and Caleb) have been amazing through it all and are the only reason we haven’t already filed suit against highland. ... More

Things not completed on time. Poor workmanship. Poor delivery. Poor quality of craftsmanship. Poor commitment to homeowner! No ETA. After 3 months into the home, still have so many issue pending. You have forced me to decide that I don't want to live in this house for longer than I have to. No one even thinks like that for a rental home.

Overall we are happy with our home but we do have some things we are very disappointed with. This is the first home we did not build from the ground up and we know things won’t be perfect but there are issues, the dining room light isn’t centered which will look bad when a table is properly placed in the room. There is paint all over door knobs and stoppers, the quality of the paint job on some doors and trim is very poor with dried paint dripping showing. There is a big texture patch in the laundry room where they either got the texture applied wrong or had to patch the area and didn’t texture good. Some doors are warped. Some door trim cuts do not align or the boards are damaged. In the master bath above the mirror there are sunken anchors in the wall above the mirror as if they had something placed there before but then removed it and then they painted over the anchors. The landscaping is a hodge podge of various plants with no rhyme or reason to them. These are all things we have discovered after being in the home, we did do a walk through and MANY things were addressed and fixed before we moved in but there are obvious things that can be missed during that walkthrough and that is what I am describing in this review. ... We just bought a highland home in crosswinds and the overall experience has been great with Highland homes. I would definitely recommend buying a Highland home to all my friends and family.

Huge shoutout to Edison Peralta, our builder. He is the best! Very experienced, detailed and thoughtful builder. He understood all our crazy custom requirements and built them to perfection. His expertise and guidance helped us made better design choices. Thank you for building our dream home. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Anna Grach. She is just awesome! Anna is a true example of customer first service. Anna understands the customer requirements and always helps to get best for customer. Thank you, Anna!

Love the design of our home but it’s been an absolute headache dealing with so many issues that need to be fixed. Tired of having workers in and out of my house nearly 3 months after closing. Many of these issues could have been avoided with just a little competence in project management. I’m sure we’ll love our home long term but the process getting there has been terrible

The materials are cheap. Replaced light fixtures in bedroom with ceiling fans and the fixtures were plastic and could not be more than $10. This is throughout the house - I could go on. The warranty department is non responsive. Still waiting for a response and have left serveral messages. The air conditioner is not working properly and will be the 3rd call directly to the company they picked.

From the initial sales visit with Brittany….. weekly progress reports from Brittany and Hunter…,.. now follow up on minor issues with the home, couldn’t ask for better service and responsiveness. So happy with our home and the location!!!

It was an overall great experience from start to finish.

The sales rep,Ginger, was delightful and helpful. Highland homes was willing to do a contingent contract and give us time to get our house closed. The builder rep, Luis, was extremely responsive and helpful. He wanted to make sure we were totally satisfied with our home and experience. We LOVE our home; it’s beautiful!

We decided to buy another Highland Home because we loved our first Highland Home. The second Highland Home we purchased was a model home. It is very nice but it seems some of the workmanship isn’t as great as our first home. I was also not impressed with Mr Cason’s attitude when doing our walk through. Apparently, the sales person Brad left out that when you buy a model home it sells as is, this was very disappointing since this wasn’t told to us until the day before closing. We still like our home and have been fixing/repairing the few items that Highland said are not covered. Lastly, there was a mural in one of the bedroom walls and Highland accidentally had it painted over due to some miscommunication, this was very disappointing and Mr. Cason didn’t seem to care. There is no doubt that I would buy another Highland Home, but probably not a model home. ... More

I am writing to you as a very concerned homebuyer. We recently built a house in Jordan Ranch with Highland Homes. While we expected the home buying process to be difficult, we have had quite an unpleasant experience with Highland Homes. From the get-go, there has been significant miscommunication and quality control issues. There have been many emails sent to our salesperson, our contractor and our project manager regarding issues, most recently being the unfinished nature of the house even after closing. There were multiple issues that were to be resolved before closing but were not. All of them are in writing, either through text message or email. These examples can be provided if necessary. We were assured at closing that these items would be completed the following week as we had let our salesperson and contractor know that we would be moving in approximately 2 weeks from signing our closing documents. The following week came, and the items were not completed. The next week came, and even after reminding everyone that we would be moving in later that week, the items were still not completed. We have now been here for about 4 weeks and the items have not all been completed, and we are finding more problems around the house - door knobs not being tightened appropriately and falling off, paint splatter, light bulb covers falling from the ceiling are just to name a few. My wife is at the end of her pregnancy and instead of being able to unpack our boxes and get the house ready for the baby, she is babysitting tradesmen and cleaning up after them as they come and go. She stayed home for the whole day on Friday 6/7, 6/14, and 6/21. We have to put a hard stop on anymore major repairs on the house because we need to get the house prepared for the baby. This was discussed with our contractor. On Saturday 6/8, painters were supposed to arrive at 7am and finish their job. I woke up and waited for them. No one showed up, and we were not notified until 9-10am. Things happen but this is the most recent incident of disrespect for our time and frankly this has happened way too much. I then had to stay at home for multiple hours on Sunday 6/9 while the painter came to complete his work. I am extremely tired and frustrated with the poor communication, the lack of professionalism, and lack of attention to detail with our housing project. I do appreciate Chuck coming to our house on Thursday 6/6 to evaluate our concerns. But the fact that everything was not finished on Friday and the painters did not show up the following day are just icing on the cake. Because of the cost of our time, the inability to unpack our things, the lack of professionalism, and poor communication, I would like to be reimbursed by Highland Homes. With everything that has gone on throughout the build and most recently, I think that 2 months’ worth of mortgage payments is fair. I do not believe this is asking too much and am happy to chat about it further. At this time, I cannot recommend Highland Homes as a builder to anyone that inquires. Our house cost us over $725,000, but I do not feel that the craftsmanship, communication, and professionalism was up to the standards that Highland Homes claims to deliver. The purchasing experience was easy. Wish there was a way to see upgrade options and costs when purchasing. Wish HOA rules were available before you decide to purchase aa they are very restrictive. Mostly my disappointment came from the condition of the home when we moved in. If you buy - Don’t expect a decent construction clean. I have never worked so hard to clean a brand new house. It is obvious that contractors and cleaning crew lack any attention to detail. Almost seems like they don’t care about their own quality. Contractors leave trash and empty water bottles etc on your property when they are near by or are on your property to repair. Total lack of respect. Love the house. Still working almost two months later to have it look as it should have when we closed. ... More

We bought our home because of Highland Homes reputation as a quality builder. We did it by proxy after viewing information and floor plans and photos online.

Tom and I cannot say enough about how great Highland Homes are. Zack made the process seamless and Lyndsey our Loan Officer from Highland was amazing. We would recommend a highland home to anyone. Their homes are built so well and you get so much bang for your buck. Before you buy anything else check out Highland homes

Our overall all experience is beyond great. Highland Homes as a company and staffs are the best in town. They really go above and beyond on any issue that might arise during any phase of construction or inspection. Their commitment and professionalism are truly unmatched. They always take the time to listen and address all the issues before and after closing. Their word is a bond. Also, we find that Highland Homes come with several standard features that considered upgrades with other builders as well as practical floor plans that have great noise control, energy efficiency, and yet serve every single need of any family from living, cooking, playing, working or studying. From the start of our home purchasing experience we were greeted by Walter, an extremely friendly and professional sales staff who was very knowledgeable and so helpful in the process and seemed to always be looking for ways to improve our experience. During the construction our manager, Dakota, was always positive and so helpful in making our home exactly as we desired. We have mixed feelings about our experience with Highland Homes. While we love our new home, it does have its flaws. The Short Version The overall purchase process was alright; everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. However, several issues arose during construction that have left us somewhat disappointed. The Long Version Initially, everything was going well. The team was professional and helpful. Unfortunately, a construction fire early in the process caused a significant delay. Thankfully, no one was hurt. As construction progressed, we began noticing several concerning issues: -Mysterious stains on the plywood -Windows left open after drywall installation, allowing water inside -A leak in the area where fire repairs were made, due to missing shingles To their credit, Highland Homes addressed the major structural issues, and the house is structurally well-built. We had the option to back out, but after consulting with several lawyers, we decided to proceed. Our main disappointment lies in the sloppy delivery: -Mortar chunks left on the porch and patio -Miscolored concrete and sloppy patch repairs -Poor construction cleanup before closing, including paint splatters on the tile and cabinetry -Smeared silicone caulk on tiles, making them difficult to clean -Questionable smears on the walls/ ceiling We expected a higher level of quality from Highland Homes, especially since this isn't our first build and we knew what to look out for.
