Quality of home is great.

The build process was great, seamless process. The only issue I had is I didn’t get the exact paint trim on the exterior of my home.

When I first started searching for a home in Texas, I didn't know much about the local housing market. Thankfully, my relatives, who are native Texans and have experience owning new construction homes around the Austin and San Antonio areas, recommended Highland. They like the fact that Highland uses high-quality materials, even for standard features. It was crucial for me since I was building my home from out of state and wouldn't be able to check on the construction frequently. When we finally received our house, my family and I were happy with the outcome. Avery, the sales representative, and Whitaker, the home builder, did an excellent job. The entire process, from ground breaking to completion, was done smoothly, on time, and without stress. Highland was very responsive during the home buying process and quickly resolved any concerns identified on our walkthroughs. We've had a couple months in our house now with no issues and are very content.

We bought an inventory home in the Bel Air Village from Highland Home. First, Highland Home's craftsmanship is unmatched regardless of which community you go to. We purchased the Ellington floor plan and we really love it. The home purchase process was very seamless. We have been in the house for about two months and haven't had any major issues. The first issue we encountered was that the house wasn't heating up and it was very cold at night but Miguel was very helpful and sent us the right contact for it to get fixed quickly.

Going into our first home purchasing experience, Nick our builder really made us feel welcomed and well informed. He really went over every single detail of the home with us and addressed any concerns we had. Leading up to and after purchasing our home he's been very responsive on any concerns and definitely had everything taken care right away for us. I'd definitely reccomend Nick and Highland to any of my friends and family because of the great experience we had.

I do love the Dorset townhome but there were some issues like shower and toilet backing up because a test ball was left in the plumbing. Roof leaking after a couple of days of rain. These were the worst problems. All others were minor. When I purchased my last home I received a manual with detailed information on my home. Take note Highland.

Me and my family had to relocate to Texas, and we had a ton of anxiety as well as concerns about how quickly we can move into a new home. However, we worked with a local realtor and they identified a location in Rockwall where a house was due to be completed in December. We reached out to the agent, and she was very accommodating and connected with the project manager that was working the house. After a couple of months, they were very responsive to all of our requests and assisted us where needed. Enjoyed the whole process from Buying to Moving in!!!

After much research and looking at other new and remodeled homes in the area we found this builder to have exceptional value. All the extra details in building and finishing out the home went above and beyond any other builders in the area. The whole process went so smoothly and we were always kept up to date with progress, delays, and what to expect next in the process. The app is a great resource for buyers and owners!

Some cracks on the wall and protrusions that occurred throughout the building after a month residing the home. Indicates issue with structure. Wall holding garage door frame on the side cracked. Sloppy paint in areas where there is visible sheen/general unevenness. Even with fixing minor issues and given a period a to review them and have builder go over them it was impossible to catch everything before signing. It's annoying some of the media/home consoles like doorbell and thermometer are service locked and was a pain to configure and gain access to and wifi extender.

Going into buying a home, we were thrilled to choose Highland Homes. After the process we have gone through I would not recommend to anyone based on quality of workmanship and repetitive issues with work being incomplete or done poorly. Overall a very poor experience.

It’s been great experience

Highland homes overall construction is better than many builders but the experience we had was not the best. Cannot trust - they did not allow same garage door color for us since 2 houses from us had same color but allowed exact same floor plan as us next door ! And not only that this next door and their next door has same garage color and same white painted brick ! We had to struggle to get things right during construction process. Post closing also noticing that last minute stuff was all done like patches.

Every door knob has fallen off, the hardware is so cheap. 4 toilets and every handle is missing pieces in the back. Washers missing. It’s embarrassing to bring people in to my home. The toilets and tubs backed up in 1st week. The stench of sewage was something we had to live with for a month, with a one year old and three year old. The worst thing is I have kids and the rails have fallen through upstairs. Allowing the ability for one of my kids to fall through the railing. Can provide time stamped pics for everything. The water heaters were not working for the 1st month of ownership. They were replaced. My kids had to bathe at a family members home for weeks. The lack of insulation is insane. Not only for sound but the cold. I have a thermal camera for hunting and looked at the wall and laughed. ... More

overall supervision of the trades was weak. many mistakes were made and not caught or addressed in a timely manner resulting in very poor fixes made late in the process. overall fit and finish of the home is poor. home was started months later than expected and process took longer than it should have. we are still in the process of having items repaired/finished months after closing. I am being left to manage the trades. I would not recommend Highland homes to other buyers

I would never buy a Highland home again and would recommend anyone buying a new home to find another builder. The sales team is unresponsive, the Highland lending team (which they incentivize you to use) is incompetent, and the quality of work for the actual house is far less quality than you would expect for paying such a high price. We’ve had multiple things wrong with the house, damage to our personal property, and 2 months in to purchasing the house we still have so many things to fix. I wish we never bought a home from Highland and I will never again.

Not a good buying experience with Highland Homes. They were not forthcoming re lending and Sales Manager Margaret D. was never available and when she was she was not helpful. We made some bad decisions and are in a Highland Home which is a result of those decisions. The building contract managers were great and extremely helpful as was the assistant sales manager Kelly A. Otherwise extremely difficult experience.
