My new home is beautiful, but it’s becoming more apparent as I live in it that the trades consistently cut corners. For now it’s mostly superficial (e.g. door knobs started coming off and bathroom grout started cracking/peeling first week) but I’m concerned that major issues are just waiting to be discovered. I know the housing market is crazy and everyone is stretched thin, but it seems pumping the brakes is a better solution than rushing and having to re-do each job. Perhaps my hopes were too high for a five-star home based on Highland’s reputation…

Our buying experience was truly awesome! The sales associate provided all the required information for us to make an informed decision. The design center person was not as helpful as I preferred. All of our interactions with the builders have been remarkable and extremely positive. I would strongly recommend purchasing a home with the Highlands family.

We had an excellent experience with Highland Homes. We were buying from out of state. Mac and Dakota kept us up to date regularly and answered questions quickly when we asked them. We are in our home now and love it. They continue to be responsive to our needs. Upon selecting a builder, I was worried, because so many of them had bad reviews. Highland seemed to have the best, that I saw. And, having been thru the experience with them, they deserve high marks. We are very satisfied customers.

Blake, Kevin and Sue made our experience much more pleasurable. They are a very professional bunch. Would do it all over again if those 3 were involved in the process.

Brittany was amazing from the first day we met with her. Kept us informed through whole process and made the process less stressful and actually fun. Emailed us with great info and all the task we needed to follow up on. Brittany is the reason we say we decided to go with Highland Homes and was never disappointed. Jonathan was great from the beginning with the stages of the building process and each step of the way. . Met with us several times to discuss and answer any questions we had. Called weekly throughout with updates. Communicated with us throughout closing and after closing. We felt blessed to have Jonathan as “our guy”. It took 8 months to build and I went through multiple construction managers. There wasn’t transparency during the process and my closing date changed due to delays. Communication was not the best and the sales agent was helpful at the beginning but after the sales contract was signed, she was no longer useful or informative about what was going on. Overall, the design process was the best part of purchasing my home.

Everyone involved from sales and construction was a pleasure to work with. They are genuine and committed to the product they provide. After this homebuying experience I couldn't imagine buying a home from any other builder.

From the job site constantly looking like a landfill and there never being less than a dozen empty beer bottles and / or cans inside the house alone to the shoddy workmanship of every facet of the construction of the home and Construction Managers being forced to close on homes that are not even ready, this has been one of the worst experiences of our life. We have been in our home for 2 months and we’re still trying to get the original punch list items completed. The longer we live in the house, the more things wrong we find. Every contractor sent out to repair something damages at least 2 other things that, then, need to be repaired. It’s a never-ending circus. Even at this point, if we could get our money back and walk away, we would do it without hesitation. We picked Highland because of the reputation for quality. That is a thing of the past. Don’t be mistaken by the quality of the model homes. Your home won’t look like that. Just like pictures on a fast food menu. Contractors take zero pride in their work and display absolutely no common sense whatsoever. A pre-owned home would take less work to make right than this brand new home is taking. Instead of being happy that, after an 8-month wait to move into our beautiful, brand new home and being able to settle in and get on with a normal life, we’re disappointed beyond belief at the entire process and, almost can’t stand the house now because it is nothing but a source of never-ending stress. Highland has great people that works for them, also the walk through process was smooth.

Highland Homes prides themselves on quality of construction. The construction of the home was horrible. There were over 50 discrepancies in our home when we purchased it. The craftmanship was terrible. The home reminded me of a habitat for humanity home which was put together by volunteers who were not experts in construction. After nearly 2 months in the home we are still dealing with repairs and have a long way to go.

It was one day short of a year from contract to closing. Many items were not completed at closing but I was in a bind. Nearly two months after closing most items are finally complete except for one item. After many promised appointments to complete that one I am still waiting.

Home was delivered slightly ahead of schedule and at the agreed price. Project Manager (Chase M) did an outstanding job of keeping us informed of progress and responding to any issues that came up after closing. Home is well built, although some materials could be of better quality. Paint team needs some work and required numerous touch ups and cover ups. Seemed like the painters simply wanted to be in and out as soon as possible instead of doing the job correctly the first time.

Overall, we are quite happy with our new home. The sales team and construction supervisor have been easy to work with. Supply chain issues and labor availability have caused problems but those are being sorted out over time. All in all, we would recommend Highland Homes as a builder, but in today's environment it would be advisable to have a flexible move date.

Not a pleasant experience at all. Cabinets have been one of the worse experiences we have so far in this house. Workmanship is not good at all. Backyard has issues with leaking water. None of the issues post closing have been addressed so far. It’s like they want to wait for a year, so we even run out of 1yr warranty. 1. BACKYARD : a. When they installed the SOD looks like someone has walked with heavy boots and the backyard is uneven. My cousin has already sprained her ankle just by walking in the backyard and we have stopped using it. b. Our side yard is always damp. They tried installing some drain but nothing seems to work so far. It still DAMP. May be a leak or something. c. There is more weed than the grass and was very disaapointed to see so much weed in the first month after we moved. They have already done one weed treatment and looks like that didnt help much. 2. CABINETS : It has been a pain to work with ACW cabinets. The doors were never aligned properly. There were few things that were broke and needed to be addressed . They already showed up twice and we are still waiting for things to be addressed completely. a. Oven needs to adjusted correctly to cover the gap. b. pot drawer needs to be adjusted, looks like the gas pipe is causing some issues here. There are some doors in the kitchen with adjustment issues and were never addressed. ACW has already given up on this. c. some replacement items in kitchen island and master bath. ACW showed up like 2 months ago and they said they are placing order for new parts and they never came back. 3. Other minor issues which shouldnt take time but still pending. a. one of the chandeliers has a broken globe. b. Garage insulation has a hole from inside. c. one of the plates needs to be adjusted near water heater. ... More

Thea, and Patty the sales representatives were both SUPER and went out of their way to make the buying experience a positive interaction. Tanner the building superintendent has been very responsive and cured some new home issues in a prompt and helpful manner.

Johnathan was our builder. We found him to be prompt, extremely polite, always willing to go the extra mile. We were so lucky to have had this wonderful person to lead us through the building process. The staff at Highland were also friendly and very willing to work with us. Thank you for this super experience.

I was told by that guy this is not the first home I’ve purchased, things are not going to be perfect, and I will have to learn to do some things for myself, in shock I replied, the 1st home was a short sale sold as is with expected issues, I was not expecting issues with a new house built from the ground up, I also shared with the realtor that I think all the blue tape I put up for repairs or touch ups was all pulled off with bare minimum being done

Dorothy, the sales rep was honest, candid, and highlighted the strengths of the home and community. After closing, it's only a good as it's support. Brody has been highly responsive, very pro- homeowner, and helpful with third parties. This company cares about its product and its owner. This is a great little home with quality people standing behind it.

As a first time home homeowner. Highland made the process seem less and everyone on the team truly cares. The community is great and the team is very responsive to all issues i have had. So far my only complain will be the floor plan design. I think it could be more user friendly. The home is beautiful and very modern but lacks and office space and small things like under the sink trash cabinets
