We entered into a contract on a new Highland Home right before Covid hit. Even though we were unable to return to the home to do an inspection or walk thru, the construction supervisor walked us thru it on Zoom so we could get another look at the house before we closed.

Great value but sacrificed quality in workmanship. After moving in there were little things that went wrong. Refrigerator was damaged upon delivery and still has an issue after being replaced. Pillars in the patio area holding up the roof has a gap which is perfect for insects/termites/pests to enter the home/attic. Garage cable that retracts when the opening the garage snapped. Countertop in master bath where it is caulked between the wall and countertop is cracking/peeling. Needs to be recaulked.

Highland has a good reputation and now after building a Highland Home I see why. Any issues I've had through the building process were addressed and handled to my satisfaction. I again would build with Highland.

Our experience with Highland has been great. Sales and the CM are very responsive. I would have given all five stars but we have a few pending to be addressed. In all honesty we are a bit disappointed with the quality of the paint work. It is noticeable where certain areas need to second coat of paint.

Brick work and some cosmetic details could be improved.

Overall we are pleased with our Highland home.

All has been great with the exception of our backyard holding water. Cant get issue resolved via the builder or warranty... mosquitoes/ mud/ dog... needs french drain or crushed granite to resolve..

I have been pretty happy throughout the process. Several of the issues I have logged were resolved quickly. The only outstanding issue is one of the biggest. There is standing water on both the side and back yard far longer than acceptable(48 hours). I have requested resolution since the day I bought the house but the issue has not been resolved. It is a good thing it is not against the directly foundation but considering the size of the yard it is not acceptable to have standing water in those areas.

Gracie and Genie were exceptional to work with. They addressed our concerns and fixes in a timely manner.

The sales and superintendent personnel were awesome, extremely responsive and accommodating to our needs - could not find better people to work with. Some of the work done in the house was a bit sloppy, but when we pointed out something that needed to be addressed they were on it immediately.

make sure you are happy with the construction manager as they are instrumental in the building process.

This is our second build with Highland and again completely satisfied.

That said, we were a bit disappointed to see the base price of our floor plan drop less than a month after we closed. We understand that pricing can shift with the market, but such a quick decrease felt discouraging, especially after making such a big investment. There were some miscommunications and moments of friction during the process, but in the end, Highland did come through and delivered a good-quality home. To future buyers: do not wait until the final walk through to start identifying issues - start early, while the home is still under construction. Be proactive, visit the site often, and keep detailed notes. This will help you and Highland work together toward delivering a more complete and accurate final product. Some details fell through the cracks at the design center -for example, the tile behind the mirrors in the master bath, which was not included in the final build (we assumed it would be, since it was shown in the model). Do not assume something is included, verify. That said, we had to reference our paperwork multiple times and advocate for items that were supposed to be included. There appears to be a disconnect between Highland corporate, the sales/design team, and the contractors doing the actual construction. On more than one occasion, we had to point out selections that the builders had not been informed of. That said, once issues were raised, Highland was generally responsive and worked with us to make things right. Aside from these challenges, the overall experience and final outcome were positive. Just go into the process with the understanding that active involvement is essential to avoid missteps and ensure you get the home you were promised. ... More

Several construction items (Awning not properly installed above front entrance.) that required numerous contacts / conversations to have resolved.

Only in my Home for 2 months. Overall no issues as of today. Pretty Good Service

My search for a home took some time but I chose Highland because my realtor said that they were the best builder around this area. Some of the choices in design leave me scratching my head but I’m making some changes there. My concern is the quality of the build overall. The home is less than a year old and it has several cracks in the bedroom where the ceiling meets the roof line. My neighbor has a jagged crack inside where the balcony floor meets the living room and cracks in her pantry where the shelf supports meet the wall. That house is also less than a year old. There is also a concern with the way my electrical has been installed. Loose bare wires in units as well as nicks in wiring were found when installing ceiling fans and dimmers. I will probably end up checking all outlets and switches to make sure they’re secure due to issues some of my other neighbors have had. These homes are being thrown up so quickly that I feel quality control is not being maintained. So far issues I’ve had have been addressed promptly except the cracks and I’ve brought that up recently. The entire ceiling seam should be redone. These homes are not cheap and shouldn’t have these kinds of problems so soon after construction. At least it’s still under warranty but what will happen after the year is up? ... More

The quality of materials are getting worse year by year, but prices are getting higher. Old houses was better. At least Hıghland still quick responder for issues.

Overall we did have a good experience with both our Highland Rep and the builder. We were disappointed that we did not get the specific model that we wanted, but understand the limitation with repetitive designs. We would indeed work with our rep (Ashley) our builder (Shane) and would buy Highland again. The flat pain on the walls is probably the one issue we had as it marks up very easy and required significant touch ups after moving in. Had other, minor fixable issues when we moved in but overall very satisfied with our home.

Jake and Branka were both professional and pleasant to work with. They were attentive to our needs and worked with us as we relocated from another state.

My experience with Highland Homes is as below. Positive experiences - Good plans. I found Highland Homes plans quite good. I think they have made good use of the overall space and good amount of light in the homes. - The construction material is generally good, with some exceptions as highlighted below in the negative section. - The home was delivered before the promised timeline, which was quite helpful. - The Sales Team was quite good and responsive. They were helpful in making some minor changes here and there, although, everything was through a change order. Negative. - Design Center experience was not up to the mark. The available options for upgrade were limited, especially in the case of wood flooring/Laminate. There were barely 4-5 options for laminate flooring and relatively few wooden flooring options. - Quality of workmanship. In my experience few places the supervision of the work was not adequate. E.g. the tiles in the master bathroom were not in perfect level as a result you can feel the edges and not much can be done about it. Also the sod in the backyard was laid without proper levelling as a result there is lot of uneven surface, which is an expensive proposition for the customer after closing which could have been avoided with little supervision. - Material. My observation on material quality is particularly with framing. I noticed in few places the studs used were not very good or strong. I had a hard time installing TV wall mount as some of the studs were damaged. This could have been avoided with supervision. There was a noticeable difference in the framing as compared to some of the leading builders. - Responsiveness. The response from the project team has not been up to the mark. While it was addressed to some extent, but it went down after the closing again. - Value for the price. The upgrades in general were very expensive, including the listed price, while some promotions were applied but there was little adjustment for the steep price drop right after the closing. Overall, I am happy with my home as it built before the promised timeline and like the plan, but there is a lot of room for improvement in the overall customer experience as highlighted above. ...
