I do love the Dorset townhome but there were some issues like shower and toilet backing up because a test ball was left in the plumbing. Roof leaking after a couple of days of rain. These were the worst problems. All others were minor. When I purchased my last home I received a manual with detailed information on my home. Take note Highland.

Highland Homes: A Solid Choice for First-Time Home Buyers

As first-time home buyers, our journey with Highland Homes has been a relatively positive experience overall. Choosing a builder can be a daunting task, but Highland Homes has proven to be a reliable and commendable choice for several reasons. The craftsmanship exhibited in our home is notably commendable. From the foundational elements to the finishing touches, the quality of construction stands out. We appreciate the attention to detail and the overall sturdy build of our home. It goes without saying, there have been minor blemishes and missing items that have needed to be addressed as ...

Great Experience At Highland Homes

Our experience with buying a Highland Home was great. Walter, Danny and the sales staff did a very good job explaining the process and showing us the home. The builder, Dakota, was great and continues to assist us with questions! A piece of advice - spend 2 trips at the design center and take your time. Be very specific about what you want and make no assumptions.

Highland Homes builds a good home but seems to be overpriced

We bought our home in 2023 and it seems to me a home over 535K shouldn't have particle board kitchen and bathroom cabinets instead or wood and vinyl tile flooring instead of real wood floors. Every room has the same exact light fixtures in the ceiling. There just seems to be a lot of cost cutting in the build. We'll find out how energy efficient the home is this next year.

Building process and after close two different stories

Wade our builder was great at keeping us updated during the build process and responding to our concerns. Went above and beyond in some cases and really appreciate the work that was done. However after close it's been a bit of a different story, the punch list that was supposed to be closed within 30 days is still outstanding. Some of this I understand is because he is busy and getting the trades aligned.

For the most part, the experience was pretty good. Whether it was the sales person or the loan officer that was all a great experience. What was not a great experience was the sloppiness of following up on actions needing addressed prior to and after closing (entry light crooked, master tub faucet leaking, etc.) and the lack of quality painting throughout the house. We spent an entire day scraping paint droppings off of our tile floor just so that we could seal all of the tile throughout the house. I assume it’s hard to find good painters, but someone should’ve followed up after the painters ...

The staff at Highland are amazing, very trustworthy and responsive. The quality of the house is medium - I believe because they are building so many at one time, the time to ensure details (i's dotted and t's crossed) need improving. I would suggest they ensure a team at highland is conducting a thorough check before the house is released to the buyers (lots of details - paint especially was not well done, and comparing to my former custom built home in a different state - material quality is low). It is not as stressful because the staff is very responsive to ensuring 100% customer ...

Beautiful Development and community, my protect manager Bryan has been great to work with, every week sending an email to give me updates on the progress. I love the house however I been disappointed in some of the finishing touches and the workmanship of some materials, I know eventually everything will be fixed.

Materials used are great. People working at HIGHLAND are very respectful and responsive. Quality of workmanship is below average. Not sure if this is related to Pandemic labor shortage. Overall a good experience buying and closing, except workmanship is not upto the mark.

Highland Homes - Home was delivered slightly ahead of schedule and at the agreed

Home was delivered slightly ahead of schedule and at the agreed price. Project Manager (Chase M) did an outstanding job of keeping us informed of progress and responding to any issues that came up after closing. Home is well built, although some materials could be of better quality. Paint team needs some work and required numerous touch ups and cover ups. Seemed like the painters simply wanted to be in and out as soon as possible instead of doing the job correctly the first time.

Overall, we are quite happy with our new home. The sales team and construction supervisor have been easy to work with. Supply chain issues and labor availability have caused problems but those are being sorted out over time. All in all, we would recommend Highland Homes as a builder, but in today's environment it would be advisable to have a flexible move date.

For a new build it would have been nice if it was cleaned up more prior to moving in. Decent responsiveness from the builder towards issues although it took some repeated requests and convincing for a few things.

Overall we are happy with the home. We have wanted to build this floor plan for several years. The architectural styling is very aesthetically pleasing. The high ceilings make the house feel very comfortable. Unfortunately, building the house was a painful process. Seems like current housing demands and supply of crews significantly impacted the process. Current supply shortages required brick, rock and granite re-selection. Most of the sub-contractors seem to rush through their work, leading to many items requiring revision. The quality of work seemed to not be of importance, unless ...

Highland Homes - During the building process, we had no issue.

During the building process, we had no issue. We knew the build timeline would take longer due to the industry's current environment. However, not everything was completed prior to our close date and the warranty experience has not been very enjoyable. I wish there was more communication/responsiveness.

Highland Homes - I bought an inventory home that was custom built for someone

I bought an inventory home that was custom built for someone else. It had been ready for sometime so I thought everything would be check and ready for move in. I’ve had a few service calls and a lot of Sheetrock break around the bullnose corners. This isn’t my first time buying a new home but it is my first time having build issues. Also numerous door knobs and ripped off form improper installation, doors barely on hinges. Not what I thought a Neary 800k home would be.

Overall, we had a great experience. A few minor issues along the way, but nothing out of ordinary when building a new home. For a 1,600 sq ft home I feel like the price was really steep, but that is more indicative of the market.

At the end of the day, our house turned out great. It was the process and timeline that was a bit of a struggle. Communication about next steps and timelines was pretty poor. Some of the final finishes looked pretty rushed but since it was already almost a year long for our build, we just needed to get in the house.

Disappointed in the quality downgrading from previous Highland Homes experience in Dallas. Trim work and interior paint is not up to standard and materials chosen by the builder for flooring, windows, etc. are the lowest possible quality.

Highland Homes - The home that we purchased with Highland was beautiful, and working

The home that we purchased with Highland was beautiful, and working with Glenn was a great experience. However, since buying the home we have had some issues. We have had to push our Project Manager at times to finish our punch list, however, he has always been attentive and there to help. The biggest issue that we have had is with our HVAC. It has stopped working multiple times since we bough the house. Even last night it would not cool down the house even though it was 65° outside.

What I would like other buyers to know is that a 3 car garage is a 3 CAR garage not a 3 truck garage, actually you can’t fit 2 trucks. So if possible ask for a longer garage like 2 feet longer. Also is very nice that must of the special needs that you may require, Highland is willing to do the changes to meet your needs. Regarding quality is a very good house.
