Over the home is good not great as far as price. It was just the experience dealing with some individuals that makes you think? Did I make the best decision for myself and family. I know the builder responsibilities are to stick to schedule. Get the house built on time. In some case there was rushed. It stood out once I brought things to there Attention with concerns it was just about written off or down played. If I being honest , on a positive note please READ everything and acknowledge things so you don't have to fight with them about it later. If could I go back to adjust the most common things that's never on your top list I definitely wouldn't let it slip through the cracks. Be aware you might tell the builder one thing especially something your paying for. Hay can you make sure this is done this way or that way. Overall are good, Highland needs to manage all the sub- contracts that used on the project. Some of sub-contracts did not keep the appointments or they showed up later without any notifications to the owner. It took too long to fix or solve an issue.

Process went well considering covid which made closing two months later. Quality in workmanship was less than stellar, items that were to be finished before closing weren’t and still not completed. Covid again? Other than minor things it’s a beautiful house so I believe we got more for our money with Highland than we would have if we gone with another builder.

Garage door makes loud noise but been told normal which I don’t agree. shelves not clean, white dust from construction still on the surface especially in closets.

Overall there were delays and many not related to highland. My husband and I are very direct folks and we got the feeling that sometimes they didn’t want to give us answers because of poor customer experience. For us no matter if you said it’s ready in 2 years we would have appreciated that more than I don’t know, i don’t know. That’s it we love our home excluding the very cheap paint that literally wipes away at the touch. Also, all the cosmetic errors that the didn’t fix at walk through and then said wait until 11 months and submit the warranty…

There were times when we lost trust in this location as far as selling us this home. And it took some rebuilding of trust in order for us to stay with them. Right up to the end we questioned our decisions to buy this home, but we did it and for our first home we are satisfied. I'll say if you can be here everyday during the build, make sure you are!

Love our home! Picking out what we wanted in our home to make it perfect for us was great! We had a lot of issues with Highlands responsiveness to our concerns. Initially they were super responsive. Then it felt like like since we were so far into the process our concerns were no longer important. Our house was incomplete on closing day. For a couple of weeks after closing and moving in we had contractors in and out of our house to finish up the home. Now that everything is done we are loving creating memories here

Love the floor plan and the expedited closing. The title company was excellent to work with. Construction manager has been sympathetic however for whatever reason almost every system or area has required some corrective action and he is under pressure to deliver new homes rather than prioritize warranty work. This is very different from our experience with the new home we purchased from Perry Homes 6 years ago where there were very few follow up items, the quality of the initial work being much higher.

Overall happy with my new home. A few glitches dealing with the contractor, but that is to be expected.

Attentive sales, mortgage and builder contacts. The workmanship was a bit shoddy, needing some windows replaced and other concerns. There were a few items in hindsight that I thought should have been addressed in the design center that now we need to implement. Otherwise, fairly positive experience.

Our salesman Ethan was very responsive, knowledgeable, and caring. He was very helpful throughout the entire process and was eager to solve any and every issue that arose throughout. The construction manager Dylan was the same until the very end when there were some issues with door frames, when brought up he tried to talk his way out of solving the issues by going as far as saying it would push closing back two months. After going to his boss and pushing back it was resolved within a day. My family and I love the house and are very happy in our new home. I am really happy with my home, Highland has created a house I have been able to turn into a home. If you are looking for a home I would definitely go to talk to Ethan. The only problem is there is only one Ethan. He is amazing at what he does, and can tell he actually enjoys what he does. My problem came when some of my bushes and trees were dead when I purchased my house. Although the project manager assured me they would be fixed even though the closing documents said they would not replace them. Once I moved in, and discovered they were dead, the project manager simply told me it was nothing he could do. Little things that could have been included for the money that was spent. Doors, switches, lights these were just a couple up grades I paid for. Was not to happy about how high my foundation was built up in comparison to my neighbors. On the plus Rich n Ken did a good job of our concerns of the home.

I love my highland home. Some issues through the build process related to quality of work the tile and trim contractors did. All issues resolved in time for closing.

My house is valued at $305,000. While that's not on the more expensive end of the spectrum of what homes can cost, it is still hundreds of thousands of dollars. I expected better quality workmanship in this home. The paint, the cocking, the cleaning, the baseboards, etc. are all consistent with what you would expect from a rented apartment. In fact, they remind me a lot of the apartments I lived in during my college days. For a house that I paid hundreds of THOUSANDS of dollars for, I expected better quality workmanship.

I love the house, but I hate living on a street with active crews. Not just American Legend, but Highland crews too. They are messy, noisy and inconsiderate.

I purchased a home at Waterscape in Royse City. The masonry work and painters’ workmanship is very poor. Baseboards are as crooked as a politician. I do not know how Highland is regarded as being “the best”. However, I will say most of everything has been fixed so far, but why not do it correctly the first time, or at least have it corrected prior to closing. The sales portion of the build was the easiest. The staff at Highland go out of their way to help you with whatever you need. Overall, it was a positive experience.

We hired a 3rd party to inspect the home. Many issues were found. The report was provided to the construction supervisor and sales rep. A subsequent follow up by the 3rd party inspector showed that many issues remained. A copy was again provided to the same Highland individuals. A 3rd inspection was performed prior to close. A couple of issues were still identified. After move in one major issue was still unresolved - oven tripping breaker. We were assured prior to close it had been resolved. It was not. Disappointed about the failure to address issues and had to engage a 3rd party inspector multiple times. ... More

Having good models but the prices are overpriced than market

This was the fifth home that my wife and I have built. Our second home was a Highland home as well. This was the most difficult build. It took 13 months to build our home. We signed the contract in August 2023 and construction finally got started in January 2024. Although Highland has a reputation for building quality homes, this time, the workmanship and materials were just ok. Our biggest frustration was with the workmanship of the contractors. Multiple times for a contractor to come back and fix poor workmanship. Also, our builder had just too many homes to oversee resulting in things being missed, broken by other contractors, etc. We asked to close by the end of August but after meeting with the builder and sales person, they ask to extend to September 18th to give the builder time to have everything done. The week before September was a mad scramble trying to get all the contractors at the house to try and finish. We did close on the 18th but still had a lengthy list to continue to get fixed over the next 2 weeks including cabinets in the kitchen with no shelves. Now after 5 weeks of being in, our house is together and we’re happy with the house. I don’t think we’ll ever do a new build again. I will say this, our builder worked tirelessly helping us but working with sloppy contractors and too many house given to him to oversee made his task almost unbearable. ... More

I think the fit and finish in the home is sub par. Some stuff seems to be put together very careless. In all honestly I would consider another home builder when I buy another home in the next month or 2.

My wife and I bought this beautiful home and we are very happy. Even after being in the home for 2 months, we still find it unbelievable to be in this house. We were in the process of buying another home but our close date was extended and we weren’t happy. We looked at other options and found this gem. The house was close to being completed so we only had to wait about a month before we closed. Our walk through went well and any issues we found were minor and fixed quickly. Now that we are in the house, at this time my biggest issue is this hole in my front yard with a wire sticking out of it. I’ve addressed it several times with my POC (Sam) but nothing has been done about it. In general, Highland Home’s houses are beautiful and therefore the prices are high, but the details of the house are not perfect and need to be repaired many times. They will fix for you but the time they respond to my requests is very slow. and sometimes they will not time. Home buying experience was fine, very easy other than the wait time which was out of their control. The quality of workmanship could be better. Builder tried to make it better and in many ways did get things fixed. A few other cosmetic issues were not fixed and it feels like you’re forced to deal with them or fix them yourself after dealing with multiple do overs.

I was told by that guy this is not the first home I’ve purchased, things are not going to be perfect, and I will have to learn to do some things for myself, in shock I replied, the 1st home was a short sale sold as is with expected issues, I was not expecting issues with a new house built from the ground up, I also shared with the realtor that I think all the blue tape I put up for repairs or touch ups was all pulled off with bare minimum being done
