On trim work inside and out side had areas of paint run off. Sloppy paint work.

The whole buying process was great, the construction manager, the sale counselor was great to accommodate us since this is our first time purchasing a home, let alone a new construction home. I think the workmanship is lacking up to Highland Standards.

Still waiting on items to be corrected, very easy and simple ones like a microwave handle that's damaged from before we moved in 28 Nov 18 and has been on order from about 5 Dec 18. Other items are being fixed on time though.

Caulking, transitions between different paint colors get sloppy, window lift not debur and it’s very sharp

We really liked HH (HighlandHomes) interior design and exterior design, which led us purchase the new-construction home. Sales experience was smooth and initial interaction (prior closing) with builder was nice as well. After moving into home, we opened more than expected warranty issues in first 2 months. We feel that HH is very strong in sales, interior/exterior design, overall home building standards, however we found that workers (i.e. contracting agencies doing actual work for HH) are rushing up and producing just okay. Electric/Lighting warranty issues are repeating several times. We hope that HH enforces contracting agencies to take ownership of faulty work and produce better quality home to customers. For only these reasons, I am reducing my rating for quality of workmanship & materials from 4 to 2, and Value for the price paid from 4 to 3. Builders are very responsive to warranty issues, we are still new to the home so we are hoping that warranty issues are resolved at customer's satisfaction. For new-construction home buyers, we would *highly* recommend buying Highland Homes over other builders for the value for the price paid. Overall, I’m happy with certain aspects of my new home, particularly the great location and the beautiful natural lighting throughout the space. The second floor has a well-thought-out layout and feels very comfortable and functional. However, there are areas that could have been better. The first floor feels too crowded, with limited space in the family and dining areas. The design leaves little flexibility for arranging furniture, which I found disappointing. I also experienced some frustration during the buying process. The sales representative was not very friendly and, when a mistake was made with the carpet installation, her response was dismissive. She said the incorrect carpet “looked better,” even though I had carefully chosen the original color and was not seeking her opinion. Additionally, I noticed poor workmanship in several places, especially with the cabinet and kitchen island installation. There were also multiple dings and imperfections on materials like baseboards that should have been addressed prior to move-in. While I appreciate many things about my home, I hope future buyers can benefit from improvements in both customer service and attention to detail during the build and finishing stages. ... More

Initially we were so skeptical going with highland homes as we had deal with each sales agent (as they were changed frequently) and same with Construction managers but ones we have Michael as construction manager..things got in place and boosted our confidence in moving with highland homes ..as he used to provide construction updates everyweek ( as we were remote, wish we would have been at the site to have other minor changes) and always on call during the support for the time he had with us..definitely recommend Michael and highland homes for new house buyers.

Working with the Highland office girls and the construction supervisor has been overall positive. I have been in the home since mid November, and continue to find things that the actual construction workers missed doing or did poorly. I guess it's hard to find good carpentry these days. The Highland homes have good curb appeal, that's what caught my eye.

The Highland Homes sales and construction staff make this builder pleasant overall, which is why I gave it a higher "star" rating. The staff is incredibly responsive and wants to make things right and on time. My only disappointments are with the finish-out selections in some areas throughout the townhome, which are subpar and could be brought up a notch without hurting the bottom line. There simply in no excuse for some the cheap choices. For Example the dome lights in the bedrooms. These are so incredibly cheap, ugly and frankly insulting. But I will leave it at that. Not very happy with the selection at the Design Center.

Collin Thompson, the builder has been nothing short of amazing. When i moved in, there a few ticket items that needed to be addressed. The previous builder was dragging his feet on them. Collin swooped in and took over l and men, I can't say enough how professional, attentive, efficient and kind he was to my needs. He went way above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of and in a timely fashion too. He was very flexible with my schedule. He was patient with me. He delivered 1000%. And maintained communication with me every step of the way. Thank you so much Collin for such a great experience so far. He even got his hands dirty himself for my sake. I dunno the other guys by name but the staff he had come over to take care of my ticket items were great as well. So thank you all. ... More

Everyone we spoke with was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. There were a few issues that needed to be fixed that were noted before closing. Upon closing and moving in, we noticed a lot of issues. The paint, trim, cabinets, and drywall work was very messy and it has been frustrating working with these vendors to get the work corrected. They are relatively minor issues, but are issues that would be pointed out by the next buyer. It’s an incredibly beautiful home, but we wish there was more attention to detail.

Love my new home and it looks great. Took two months after moving in to complete quality / warranty problems. Problems included things like exterior doors alignment, appliances tripping circuit breakers, exterior mortar and caulk voids, lighting fixtures (broken, alignment or missing), some of the standard interior fixtures are cheap, window screens damaged. Sales people implied some model home features were standard features.

Great floor plan and many options to make the home unique. Only concern has been the quality of work and finished product. There was an expectation that some things would need a warranty call but there has far too many from the day we closed to today, 3 months post close.

Highland homes builds a nice home . But with that being said I have had some very frustrating things happening for 2 months now . Electrical problems. Still are ongoing .

We have had numerous issues with the warranty work being completed, in addition to issues that have had contractors sent out needing multiple repeat visits (4-5). Eve after those repeat visits fixes still haven't been made. We have contractors showing up at out house at all random hours without notification which seems odd that they would just show up without being scheduled. However, the builder says "I didn't schedule them". The additional "supervisors" he sends to supervise the contractors don't even actually supervise or observe. There has been a huge disconnect in follow up and communication. I am very disappointed and had hoped this experience would prove better. We still continue to have constantly put in for work to be done on at least a weekly basis. Seems to me it's also a waste of money highlands part to not just get the job done right the first or second time. ... More

We love our new home There are a lot of little things we felt were not up to highland standards. Like using higher quality light switches and having handles and pulls on cabinets. Seemed to take short cuts on little things.

I like this builders quality and efficiency

As a realtor, I have been a huge advocate for highland homes and will continue to be. Their floor plans are roomy, well designed and efficient. However, we experienced the following concerns. Your experience may differ so please take it with a grain of salt. 1) multiple construction delays and changes in construction management personnel. This may have improved in recent months. 2) strongly recommend separate property inspection. Align with the builder on what needs to be fixed before closing and make sure they do. Otherwise, You can expect to have month long delays and multiple follow ups before issues get resolved 3) do a checklist on all the change order from your design options with the construction manager. After Sales service is not up to expectations by any means and i hate to record tons of claims for warranty

I know that a lot of the trades have taken a turn downward as far as quality because of who is out there actually willing to work but there are somethings that I feel should have been caught and were not. Over all the quality of the home is great. We are pleased with the structure but there were somethings that we just felt didn't live up to the quality that you come to expect with a Highland Home.

The house and detailing was as shown and committed. Quality of materials is good but could that little better for the prices paid. Overall a good experience in home buying

My new home is beautiful, but it’s becoming more apparent as I live in it that the trades consistently cut corners. For now it’s mostly superficial (e.g. door knobs started coming off and bathroom grout started cracking/peeling first week) but I’m concerned that major issues are just waiting to be discovered. I know the housing market is crazy and everyone is stretched thin, but it seems pumping the brakes is a better solution than rushing and having to re-do each job. Perhaps my hopes were too high for a five-star home based on Highland’s reputation…

Home is high quality. Issues that were supposed to be fixed within the first 10 days after closing are still not fixed.

Tough time to build and buy a new home. High prices with limited supplies and limited laborers. Our General Contractor, Dave, did a great job working through issues and working directly with us. Hard to believe we paid such a high price for the home and that’s no one’s fault it’s just the way it is in this current market.
