Make sure you get your own home inspector!

I had awesome experiences with sales (Val) and walk through with the builder (Mike). Mike and Val have been responsive to all my questions and completed any actions that were needed. Val has made me feel welcome in the community with her kindness, reminders, and holiday greetings. More than happy with my new home.

My family homebuying experience was personally the smoothest out of all the homes we have purchased despite issues with the in house lender approving and rescinding the approval closer to our original close date. Nichol C was excellent from the start until our closing date. He’s truly an asset to Highland Homes because he really took it personal when it seemed like the deal was done. Just when we thought it was over officially he helped us navigate through this tremendous hiccup & led us to such a wonderful person. Natalee D who was able to assist us in getting this deal completed. Mattew B was awesome as well despite us not being able to get the deal done with him. Closing on this home was such a team effort, and I don’t say that lightly. It truly felt like we were a family on this journey. My family and I love our Highland Home. Highland Homes would not consider moving light switches lower or making bathroom doorways wider to accommodate federal ADA disability requirements. A compromise was offered but required an unreasonably large deposit. As a result, our elderly relatives who use a wheelchair have difficulty navigating our new house. Builder misunderstood change order for placement of additional outdoor lighting. We were charged nearly $600 for them to make the correction. Builder has very responsive to minor defects since taking ownership. One issue persists, though, causing our kitchen to smell like raw sewage whenever the dishwasher is run. We will continue to watch for signs of water intrusion on the interior, likely seeping through weep holes in the brick, which is causing window frames to be wet inside the walls (discovered when drilling pilot holes for drapes). ... it was our first new home buying experience , from the day we saw the house and met Tim and his team, we are in love with Highland homes..they did great job both in communications and quality of work. we started to value more as we learn more on other builder issues and look back with ours..we appreciated much. thank you HighLand - Homes team (Tim team) and HighLand - Home Loan team (Hank Team) you all are awesome

Builder associates, construction manager and workers are very good in responding to the requests and had a very really good experience. But the quality of the material is not good and very much disspointing.

The experience overall was very stressful, and it didn’t need to be. There was a lack of communication; questions never answered, problems not addressed in a timely fashion that would have saved Highland time and money, and would have given us an enjoyable experience. The quality of materials used and craftsmanship of the installation of the materials was mostly poor. Very disappointing in such careless, lack of pride for their trade and other trades. Most tradesmen didn’t know their craft. Nor did they respect the home of the future buyer or us the buyer. An example would be wood trim and cabinetry warped, still finding counter top dings (that is now not covered in warranty), uneven walls, and not all the warped wood was removed and replaced. I would tell a new buyer to document everything, take lots of pictures, hire your own inspector before close and before your year is up while you are still in warranty. Going forward it is questionable if I would buy a highland home. Maybe…with the right building team. ... More

Cabinets are worse than off the shelf Hone Depot or Lowe’s . Typical drywall and electric issues that a production builder does. Minimal oversight and although some stuff gets fixed, the overall house is way overpriced. At least we did not spend more for the same builder in another community.

Our project manager Blake was the best. He was always responsive and took care of all of our questions and request. The quality of work done on our home was exceptional.

Highland Homes was really great throughout the home buying process. The quality of the workmanship in Wildridge with this homebuilder is not what we expected. We built with Highland in another community and everything was great! We expected the same experience and that didn't happen. There have been so many "issues" The "issues" are not with Highland but the Trades people Highland has chosen to use in this community. The trades people Highland uses are what have caused the "issues" . It would seem as though the "issues" we are experiencing could have been avoided if the Trades people would communicate better with the Highland People ... More

Sia and Miya were horrible in the end!! The beginning was great!! Until they received our money then it was crickets, no response to any emails no returned phone calls or texts. Daniel started off slow with responding but ended up being awesome.

We are a return client for Highland, having bought our first home in the DFW metroplex in 2014. It was a great experience in 2014 and even better in 2022, when we signed the contract for our preferred single-level plan that very few builders offer at this scale and quality. Starring from the sales interaction to the build out, everything was centered in what would make sense for the buyer and responded to from that perspective from Highland. We continue to be a very satisfied return client.

Not Great experience with Highland Homes

We have lived in our new highland home for a few months now and are absolutely thrilled every day we get to wake up in it. From start to finish Highland has been professional, easy to reach and demonstrate quality on every corner of the experience. We have had a few small things to warranty and they have been nothing but understanding and on top of it. I can not reccomend this company enough! Thank you highland for such an amazing experience

My biggest gripe is the homeowner doesn’t really get a say so on the house. For example the height of the shower head. I’m 5ft but the shower head is placed so high I had to buy a removable shower head so I could bathe. You don’t get to choose which side the locks go on the gates. It’s perceived that you are part of the decision making as far as the house but you really aren’t. You don’t even get to choose the type of door bell you want or where it’s placed.

It was really great experience working with sales team while building my home. They were very cooperative throughout the process. Though there were minor issues closing done with the trust to complete rest within couple of weeks or so. But its almost 2 months and i have to chase down builder to get things done. I did not move in until 1.5 months post closing and already seen wood flooring sliding, cabinets paint rushed, bay window sitting area having no support so cracking, garage entry door making noise etc and broken window nets from day 1. Have had new build homes from Landon and Megatel in the past but never had this experience. It's frustrating to see these issues as soon as you move in and speaks for quality. ... More

If i do have a choice I will not buy any highland homes, they never mentioned all throughout the home construction and buying process that I bought a house beside sewer facility, The only time i knew when I send my own inspector a day prior to closing. There are so many unwated experience during construction process. They respond poorly for any warranty.

After not having the best experience at the 45' lots, we went to the model home of the 50' lots and this is where our great experience started! Julie was such a pleasure to work with through out the entire process, and our builder Tom was very knowledgeable and was very responsive. We would recommended Highland and this team team to anyone that asks us for advise.
