We have lived in the townhome since October this year. We like the community and the design and the overall quality of construction of the building for the price.

Owning my own house has always been my greatest dream and it finally came true two months ago when I moved into my new Highland house. The quality is great for the budget I invested in. And my contact Mr.Clayton Coffee has been very professional and responsive when I did encountered a few issues. Great house and I am very glad I made the right choice on Highland Homes.

We had a great experience throughout the entire process of working with highland and the development of our home over the course of a year. It started with a great visit to the model home where the sales woman Edna gave us a tour in person of every single floor plan they offered. She was extremely knowledgeable about all of their homes and even showed us around pecan square. Taking that extra step and showing us instead of just talking to us about everything made our experience feel personalized. After signing our contract, we were partnered with the designer and construction manager both of whom continued the personalized experiences. No matter who you work with at highland, everyone is very communicative, honest and upfront. Although their floor plans are top notch, I t’s the small details that make a highland home stand out—the extra tall doors, the light fixture selection, to the quality of cabinets and well thought out floor plan. Sadly, my experience with Highland has been very unfavorable. I can not recommend them. I’ve been in my home for 2.5 months and am still having workers out every week to install missing items and repairing faulty work.

This building experience has been by far the worst build I’ve been a part of. This is my third build and haven’t experienced anything quite like this. We are over two months in and are still having contractors in and out every few days. The windows have been by far the worst part of the build. We are still owed one window which does not properly latch and now allows cold air in. We had several items that were promised to be taken care of before we moved in which were not met. We were reluctant to sign since they had not been addressed. We were promised these would be resolved within two weeks. That wasn’t and still isn’t the case. We keep getting told it’s the window vendor that keeps falling short. I have repeatedly taken PTO from work to make time for the contractors coming in and out. At this point our realtor mentioned we should be getting some sort of compensation or upgrades at no charge for all the headaches we’ve been put through. I agree!! The construction manager just shrugged that off as a joke! It wasn’t by any means! At this point it would just be nice to have everything resolved at once without any further delays. I truly wish I could provide a more positive review, however, I think due to the timing of my build/purchase, my Highland experience was less than expected. I was aware of Highland's reputation as a quality builder, positive reviews per research I did, and recommendation from realtor, so I focused on purchasing a Highland home. Due to several issues, I'm running into now, I believe the building of my home was "rushed" and that certain quality control mechanisms were missed. I do attribute some of these issues due to building demand and market conditions during the Q2-Q3'2022 timeframe. However, based on Highland's reputation combined with the price I was paying for the house, I expected a more positive experience. General issues included missed due dates for installations/repairs, lack of proactive notifications and follow up (I usually was reaching out to either the sales team or project coordinator for updates), continued unresolved repair issues. Part of the problem may be due to lack of subcontractor control and volume of business with resources being spread very thin. Unfortunately, I felt I was unnecessarily caught in the middle and that I was not a priority for the team hence the low rating. ... More

Always communicating and great to work with.

Beau and Jenni in the sales office have a huge commitment to listen to the needs of each home buyer and the remove all barriers to ensure you are more than happy with your highland home. My builder listened to my needs and built my last dream home to my home. Couldn't be happier with our Highland home.

I would say start away from Highland. They claim to be premium builder but don’t know how to address their customers. It’s been 2months after closing but the builder failed to give what they promised in the contract. I am frustrated after multiple folllow ups.

My experience with Highland Homes was so much better than the previous builder I built with. The homes are very solid and beautifully constructed. Our sales team really went out of the way to make sure we got what we wanted and our builder was responsive to all of our needs.

The buying process was great from the sales (Angela) to buying (Mattew). But quality of material, workmanship, trustworthy and price is just bad in every way shape and form. I won’t recommend anyone for this price, we deserved better. A lot of defects and all around inexperienced people were involved in the construction from start to finish. Just BAD.

Highland homes are value for money and it feels so specious

Beautiful Development and community, my protect manager Bryan has been great to work with, every week sending an email to give me updates on the progress. I love the house however I been disappointed in some of the finishing touches and the workmanship of some materials, I know eventually everything will be fixed.

After hearing great things about highland, I was confident in choosing them as our builder. The entire experience was disappointing and even now (6+ weeks later) we’re having to live in construction - after being delayed for 6+ months. The worst part was the horrible communication and the crappy workmanship. Having to wait 14+ months for a house and to walk in the day before closing to dead bugs in the cabinets, crooked walls, and horribly laid tile?? I was floored.

Lots and lots of issues in construction quality. Not working sd/co etc

We've had several things thast aren't pleasing but our PM has been right on top of them. Getting subs here to correct has and is an issue. Your cleaning crew, in my opinion, does not do a great job. We've been battling a floor issue here since the walk thru and still waiting. Getting closer but still not complete. Very frustrating at best. Your electrical company too can be frustrating. Takes them too long to respond if they respond at all. WHen one pays for this level of home, there are certain expectations. You all need to hone in on your subs and contractors doing it right the very first time. Am I disappointed in some areas? Absolutely!! I love my home. Everything looks really good. They are fixing everything I have asked them to fix. Reliable.

Highland has excellent customer service, but the workers they use will cut every corner and leave your brand new home unfinished and looking like a home 1/3rd the price. Micromanaging every aspect of the build is required and even then more mistakes are made. This is acceptable according to them in this current labor market. Wife, daughter, baby and I have even had to relocate to a hotel(covered by Highland), so they could fix issues, 1 of which was a HUGE saftey violation nearly 1.5mos after closing. Im sure Im just the outlier here as Highland is one of tbe best, but it doesn’t change the face that my family suffers after making the biggest purchase of my life. ... More

Quality of workmanship is not all that great.

Although I love the house and the location , the overall moving process lacked in several areas. The exterior of the house is different than the one we thought it would be. We only found out about that later in the process. When we received our closing date, we thought everything would be ready for the move in date but it wasn’t. We did the final walkthrough one day before closing and noticed that there were items missing, like Mirrors, Shower Window, Door bell and Oven vents. Our builder did tell us that we had the option of postponing the move in date or have these things added before we moved. At that point everything was already scheduled to move in so that wasn’t an option for us. The day of our move in, the house was nasty dirty. Like dust on the bathroom drawers , counters, etc. it looks like their cleaning crew came to clean the floors only. Our builder did stay on top of things after we moved and got everything that was missing and communication was great! We know the market has been crazy of late and labor is scarce so we totally understand why those things happened but definitely wished we were told of it before that that was a possibility . Besides that, I would buy it from them again, but would definitely be more active through the process in asking updates. ... More

While we are happy with our purchase, there were many issues that will prevent me from recommending Highland Homes. The experience I had heard about from various people that have built homes before, was not one that I can say I have had. My situation is unique in that we relocated from NJ and purchased not one but two homes with Highland. Responses I received from home office were unacceptable and that is when I actually got a response at all. I have some instances where I have not received so much as an acknowledgment on my concerns. I also do not like dealing with a company that finds it necessary to bad mouth competitors when Highland, from what I hear is a very well known and reputable company. The Highland sales team was very attentive. We never 2nd guessed our choice to hire them or to purchase their product. The building process was 90% smooth, and where we ran into a slowdown, it was resolved as soon as the vendor made the right product available. Although he was VERY busy, our building coordinator made time for us as best he could. We never felt neglected. When building this many homes, there are certain to be minor workmanship issues, but we have 12 months to work those out!! Happy with Highland!

After Sales service is not up to expectations by any means and i hate to record tons of claims for warranty

It was great to work with great, caring people at Highland Homes. We will buy again in the future from Highland Homes here in Texas!
