Highland, like any builder, has its own challenges managing sub contractors that are inevitably the ones actually building your home, but Highland’s warranty, commitment to excellence, and absolute focus on building a trusting relationship with you as a homeowner absolutely overcomes the smallest issues as well as the minor near unnoticeable defects that anyone finds in their new home. From start to finish, they’ve been excellent. Even our realtor was like “I don’t ever feel like I earn my commission whenever I work with Highland, they make the entire process so easy, it’s undeniable they’re the best in the biz to work with!” Someday, I hope Highland opts in to build individualized homes on parcels of land individually purchased. Highland Homes has been nothing but an absolute blessing to our family. They are extremely professional and STICK to their timelines. We received weekly calls and updates while our home was being built and both Tim and Casey addressed any and all concerns we had right then and there. Highland is more than a Home Builder, they are an standard of what home buying is supposed to be. We have been living in our home for 3 months now, and ALL of our requests for certain items to be fixed or replaced were done so in a timely fashion. Our experience would have been wonderful if hadn’t been for our project leader - he was full of empty promises and we sit here today 3-4 months post close with items still needing to be fixed. We got so frustrated we stopped reporting and started doing these items ourselves. The workmanship is very frustrating in our new home when you pay $700k plus and get better workmanship from the Highland 45 we purchased previously from Highland in the same neighborhood. Your project lead blew this one!

Moved in my house April 28th there were still a few issues that had been blue taped. I brought this to the builder attention and it was suppose to get repaired. It is now almost August and I have been given the run around. I have contacted the builder multiple times who tells me he will reach out to the flooring company and call me back and then I never hear from him. The flooring company calls and gives me the run around and now I’m stuck with a chipped tile that was that was suppose to be repaired. My bricks and mortar are starting to crack and chip. My baseboards shred super easily I think the material used is cheap. My house is so beautiful but there are some issues that I have had in the process. ... More

My homebuying process went smoothly, from beginning to end. Thank you highland for such a beautiful home and sticking to the contract. You guys are great to work with and I will definitely recommend to other potential buyers to check you guys out.

Home quality is good however ensure you have everything documented in black and white, don’t blindly trust year sales person. Don’t assume your builder knows everything. Example I had asked my builder to provide me security camera connections. When the builder says yes and added to the contract your basic assumption is they know the job. Later I found they gave me six 110 V power connections for the cameras whereas normally they should be providing network connections. Come on , in todays world who gives you 6 power connections for the cameras. I had to shell out additional 1200$ for getting the right items. Responses to items which should have been addressed before the house closing are still open after three months and no ETA at all. This is simply unacceptable. I’m not even referring to warranty request after moving into the house. No doubt the house is wonderful but ensure you have patience, document everything and do not rush for closing. Please note in my case the house was delayed for 4 months and Covid was not the reason which was always used as an excuse for every damm delay. If you ask me, will I recommend anyone to highland homes I will list out all the above items to the buyer and then decide accordingly. ... More

We lived in a 1904 Victorian home in a Chicago suburb and purchased a new Highland home in Texas. I loved my old vic.so this new home was going to be a huge adjustment for me and I was sad to leave my old home. Our new Highland home, I’ve fallen in love with quickly! The details in everything... a pantry door that shuts on its own so it doesn’t stay wide open if you forget to close it, sealed fold down windows to make cleaning easier, everything seems to line up perfect, the gap under the door so the rugs and carpet don’t make closing the door difficult, the design of the home, the front bedroom almost seems separate from the other rooms of the house for privacy, the selection of tile, backsplash, flooring, not to mention the workmanship of the tile work and floor work. I call myself a perfectionist.... this well built home has met that for me! The staff we worked with are amazing individuals. They seem to sincerely care about what they do and their homes. They are kind, informative, helpful and are quick to come to resolve if you have an issue our concern. ( Toilet squeak after a flush... plumber was out in a week or so to resolve, nothing major just water level sealing). Highland Homes has done all the hard labor to make us feel our home has been made with quality materials, it’s strong, meets our families needs and will last a lifetime for us. To me, Highland Homes takes pride in keeping their home building name at the top of those in the state of Texas. Now it’s our turn to make it a home. I love my new Texas home!! ... More

I purchased it recently and found the water leakage in the two-bedroom and still working on and not yet finished the work. so many defects in the home.

My builder promised me a beautiful home and Highland delivered on that promise! My home inspector said this was the highest quality new home he has seen in ages and actually thanked me (the buyer) for the great experience! My builder (David) was awesome, and office contact (Debbie) stayed in touch with me throughout the process. The insulation surpassed my expectations and the few problems we identified during the inspection, walk through, and after move in were fixed, or are in the process of being fixed. The quality of faucets, door knobs and light fixtures were builders' grade so I did update those after moving in. I have one suggestion for Highland and I did share it with my builder. I spent thousands extra for a free standing tub and frameless shower in the master bathroom - I consider them the centerpiece of the room. There were only two options available for finishes (polished or brushed chrome), but I wanted black or oil rubbed bronze. It is expensive and difficult to replace these items, and I wish Highland would have offered more options. Also, three holes were drilled in the free standing tub for the faucet and knobs, right in the middle, making it a little hard to get in and out of, and not the look I wanted. I would have gladly paid extra if I had been offered the option of putting a free standing faucet fixture in the corner on the floor, giving the appearance that I wanted with the spa tub. This issue was my only major disappointment. My realtor recommended Highland Homes as a high quality builder, and other than the one disappointment, I am very happy with my beautiful Highland Home!! ... More

Worst customer service evern I have seen in my life

Home building is not an exact science right now. Be aware that even though you think you might have a date or expectation for completion that can change. Just know you should still expect weekly updates as the build progresses.

We did a ton of research and walked through many homes under construction before deciding on Highland. Even before we ever spoke with a salesperson, we could tell their standard options and quality of materials was much better than the other builders we were considering, even builders whose homes started at a much higher price point. Before we pulled the trigger with Highland though, we asked other neighbors how they felt about their build experience with the various builders in our neighborhood, and Highland was the overwhelming favorite. We also know that so much of our positive experience is owed to our builder, Chase. 2021/2022 was/is a crazy time in the building industry. Chase was straightforward with us from the start that our build would likely take anywhere from 9-15 months due to a combination of material delays and labor shortages. As predicted, we hit a few bumps along the way, but he always kept us in the loop. Not once did we have to reach out and ask for a status update. He sent us weekly reports of completed progress and what was coming next. Even when he had nothing to report, he would still check in to let us know why this or that was delayed, and when he expected to start moving forward again. In the end, our build took 13 months to complete, which is pretty impressive considering the supply chain issues plaguing the world at the time. All of our questions and concerns along the way were very quickly addressed by both Chase and our salesperson Anna. They could not have been more patient or accommodating with us. And in the almost 3 months since we closed on our house, Highland has been quick to inspect or remedy the couple of minor issues we have brought to their attention. Scott was quick to realize that the flood lights weren’t in the ideal location and had that addressed. Further more he even added a kick board to the fence so that creepy crawling things would find it harder to come thru. Truly appreciate the attention to detail.

Although Highland is traditionally known as a high quality home builder, our experience was underwhelming. In the end the same trades work on all the houses, so the quality is really driven by supervising the trades closely. Unfortunately that didn't happen in our case. In fact, I don't think we have a straight wall in the entire house. We also just discovered our kitchen island and related countertops aren't level. Those sorts of things shouldn't be issues from any builder, especially one like Highland.

It took about a year to build my home. There were several set backs. My final walk through I noted a long list of incomplete items. The trim was not painted or caulked. A door was not painted, no door knob. The front door was not installed, the cabinets needed replaced, paint on brick, outside light fixture needed replaced, pendent lights needed install, paint on flooring, caulking on brick, etc. it has now been 2 months since closing and these have not been addressed. I have put in more warranty request that haven’t been addressed as well. I was told that the contractor has 6 closing in June then he will start working on his other houses. My house should be priority. I already paid for it and it’s incomplete. I’m very dissatisfied with Highland homes and their craftsmanship, and work ethic. ... More

I really liked the communication and dialog between the builder and my wife and I. He was open to receiving emails, even on the smallest of issues. One particular issue was the color of our brick. The builder ended up bringing out a new color of sand which changed the color of grout and ultimately made a huge difference in the color of the house. Thank you to Trevor and the whole HH team!

Highland Homes took really care about my home and go to extra mile to make us satisfied with new home. For instance, they provided epoxy coating for my garage even cracks were naturally built. It was great experience.

I will leave it very short and simple. If Highland really cares, they will reach out to me for details. It is a VERY GOOD thing they had a pandemic to blame for each and every failure that came to pass on this build. In my opinion, it is only about making money for them with no care to the buyer and it is built into the contract to ensure that. If you chose to buy from Highland, invest in personal lubricant stock first.
