I’ve heard nothing but bad things about people who build their own home. However we had the best experience with Highland. Our builder was great, he communicated all along the way so we were never left wondering what was happening.

We purchased a home from Highland at the end of 2018. The sales representative and the builder were extremely attentive, patient, and competent with all aspects of getting into and becoming settled in the home. I was most impressed that they lived up to every commitment in preparing the hand over of the house. I greatly appreciate the professional and personal approach Highland Homes takes to satisfy their clients during and after the home was purchased. I strongly recommend working with Highland.

We moved from MS for work and have really enjoyed the options in housing. Highland was a great fit for us.

Highland homes have gone above and beyond everything we have expected in a home builder. We noticed some things that we though could have been addressed by simply sanding and repainting but the builder explained it would be better to replace it completely new. No other builder would have done this.

I bought this house as a spec about half way through the build. They were able to work with me on my closing date and were very helpful and professional throughout the rest of the build. I would recommend Roy and Rich to anyone looking to build their dream house!

We've built and bought for many years. As in every home building experience, issues arise and need to be addresses - it's just expected with any new home. In every case, the builder and office staff of Highland addressed the issues, and took care of them over-and-above what was needed to make us happy. We count the building and the staff at Star Trail Highland Homes as professionals and friends - who made the experience fun and rewarding. Our sales counselor was truly amazing - she listened to exactly what was important to us and helped think outside the box to achieve our dream. Then the hand off to the construction manager was just as good. He brought some excellent suggestions to the table and worked through some (inevitable) minor obstacles that presented themselves along the build process. Now that we have been in our home for a few months, we've had a couple minor things here and there, and the warranty process is just as great. My husband and I could not be happier and are so fortunate to have Highland build our dream. I would highly recommend Highland to anyone looking for a new construction home. This was our first brand new home purchase and it was a fantastic experience. Our builder, Andrew, was very easy to work with and very quick to respond to any concerns or questions we had during the entire process. No detail was too small to address. We are extremely happy with our new Highland Home.

The experience was not what I expected. I’ve heard horror stories about building a house and people saying it was the worst experience ever. With highland homes, that’s not the case. I literally am a highland homes forever customer. This experience was absolutely painless and stress free! I highland recommend building a highland home. Ask for Zach and use Chris as your builder if offered.

David was great, House only needed a few touch ups. Alicia, the sales associate, tried to scam us out of something because we had “already closed and it would’ve been taken care of if we hadn’t asked after we closed” (which we did). Without David’s help she would have scammed us. Thank you, David

The Best Builder in Texas

I had built a home prior to this with a different builder and assumed I'd experience much of the same issues and related stress with this new build with Highland. Thankfully I was wrong! The process from start to finish was like a dream. When any issues did pop up (as is the nature of new construction), the Highland team (especially the builder and Sales Rep) were nothing short of outstanding! I actually enjoyed every phase immensely and I am so grateful to Highland for that experience. They have my highest recommendation.

Great to work with from design to build to finish. Everything we asked for before, during, and after the construction process was completed as promised. They made everything right!

Everyone was great - from the sales staff to the builder supervisor all the way through to warranty issues!!

Be sure to ask plenty of questions. Highland staff are very helpful and approachable. There are no dumb questions!

Overall buying our Highland Home was a positive experience. There were several issues during the building but that happens to every home builder. Melissa our construction manager was very attentive and took care of each issue quickly.

We've had several opportunities to work with Highland Homes, this being the first home we completed with them, and our experiences with them have been harmonious and impressive. They go over and above in many ways, and we know first hand that other large builders would not offer the same. The biggest problem we did encountered was with the design center and the selection of certain home items. The kitchen cabinets were far darker than they appeared in the design center but Highland Homes very graciously offered some alternatives that met the need perfectly! For this we are so grateful! There were other little issues with the design center where more guidance was needed but not provided but should we do this again, we will know to do our own research and get more information before deciding. We've built homes before and did not have this issue so this was a learning experience. The only other things I would mention have to do with communication with the sales team. They were always very cheerful and ready to help but some key information was not given to us until we were fully committed to this property and house. Such as the extent of lawn and landscape that we are responsible for involves common areas outside our lot. Areas that, in our experience, had always been cared for by the HOA in those communities. The HOA here while being far more expensive does not care for these areas and the restrictions on said landscape are nonnegotiable. We felt this was very poorly handled and unfair to us. There have been some disappointments in other things with work by their sub contractors. Sprinkler system, lawn and tree health and growth. Quality of some of the workmanship that sub contractors have had to return to correct or fix. But this has been addressed quickly by Highland Homes with plenty of follow up by the builder to ensure our satisfaction. The team at Highland Homes are great to work with. No pressure and they always go the extra mile to walk you through everything. In our case they helped us move in a few weeks sooner than they anticipated.

Highland builds a great house. There were a few instances where there were inadvertent mistakes made with the incorrect material shipped that got installed. Once Highland found out, they quickly replaced the product to our satisfaction, no questions asked. We get an update each week providing information on what was completed that week and what's on the work schedule for the next week. It's been a great experience and I would highly recommend Highland to anyone looking to build a new home.
