Not a good buying experience with Highland Homes. They were not forthcoming re lending and Sales Manager Margaret D. was never available and when she was she was not helpful. We made some bad decisions and are in a Highland Home which is a result of those decisions. The building contract managers were great and extremely helpful as was the assistant sales manager Kelly A. Otherwise extremely difficult experience.

My experience has been horrible with this builder. Building supervisor never provided prompt updates. I have to call them every day even after 3 months of closing as they still haven’t fixed all issues from closing. Even with so many follow ups, issues are still open.

Warranty repairs are not handled in a timely manner and some repairs created more issues and repairs.

You don't feel like your living in s house of the price tag. Poor workmanship on multiple aspects, lacking higher end feel that the simple things out s house give you.

beware of waranty repairs. Not as much flexibility in selection options as was anticipated

Overall Highland Homes is one of the better builders but their subcontractors are not that great. They are rushing through the work, making mistakes and have poor quality craftsmanship. The communication with the sales team could have been better especially when it came to moving the closing date.

Overall experience is below average. I believe I have overpaid and the basic items are cheaply made.

The homes are being built be the same mediocre subs as the "lower end" builders in the neighborhood and as a result the homes have the same mediocre end result. The materials themselves are fine and what I would expect at this procepoint, but are often installed wrong or with no regard to workmanship (chipped tiles, broken studs, miscut carpet, missing hurricane ties, scratched windows, chipped cabinets, chipped counters, etc.) and getting anything corrected before or after closing is like pulling teeth. Even once our construction manager Trystan agrees something is an issue it requires constant follow-up to get an inidcation that action will be taken. After that the timeline for repairs is pretty clearly "when we feel like it". I will be told something will be installed or replaced on a certain date and 30-60 days later the issue will still be unresolved. Sometimes there is an excuse, but more often when I ask why my time has been wasted sitting around waiting for subcontracters that never show - I get no response at all. One giant investment later and I have a house with wasps getting into our bedroom and everything banged up like it has been lived in for a decade. We had many builder options and assessed most models. It seemed that Highland were the quality and value package. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t quite that. We’re a month and a half post close and still have contractors every day completing or correcting work after being promised we would be done months in advance in a date we need to close.

Promises promises promises and then there is reality They push to close so they dont have the inventory on their books and 2 months later we still hear excuses Horrible follow up

The sense of urgency ,great communication up until closing. it's been a hassle to get the house completed and repaired Just get a completed house then worry bout the little repairs

This does not apply to all Highland Homes in general, just my particular community. Responsiveness to issues is non-existent, no follow-up, doesn't follow through on agreed upon affidavit items and home still has multiple items pending to be resolved even after closing. Although there is a 1-year warranty, it may be useless as they will not respond to resolve.

Our experience would have been wonderful if hadn’t been for our project leader - he was full of empty promises and we sit here today 3-4 months post close with items still needing to be fixed. We got so frustrated we stopped reporting and started doing these items ourselves. The workmanship is very frustrating in our new home when you pay $700k plus and get better workmanship from the Highland 45 we purchased previously from Highland in the same neighborhood. Your project lead blew this one!

Home quality is good however ensure you have everything documented in black and white, don’t blindly trust year sales person. Don’t assume your builder knows everything. Example I had asked my builder to provide me security camera connections. When the builder says yes and added to the contract your basic assumption is they know the job. Later I found they gave me six 110 V power connections for the cameras whereas normally they should be providing network connections. Come on , in todays world who gives you 6 power connections for the cameras. I had to shell out additional 1200$ for getting the right items. Responses to items which should have been addressed before the house closing are still open after three months and no ETA at all. This is simply unacceptable. I’m not even referring to warranty request after moving into the house. No doubt the house is wonderful but ensure you have patience, document everything and do not rush for closing. Please note in my case the house was delayed for 4 months and Covid was not the reason which was always used as an excuse for every damm delay. Need help with warranty items open for weeks now and have not been attended

Would not do this again.

I moved in October of 2021 it’s now end of January 2022 and my issues are still not being addressed.

Hello- Our sales associates for the house build and the front office were top notch and still are. High quality folks. They have been terrific. I even wrote a email raving about them. Our home closed three plus months ago and we still cannot get some of the items fixed that have been on the closing documents. Many things have been addressed but we are not complete. Lots of reasons why, but we have paid in full for the house being completed and have been very patient for what seems like a long time.

Sales process was very positive. Building process less so. Great building superintendent assigned to build. Midstream he quit for a new builder. Replacement hood but not aware of all issues that had been agreed to. Supply chain issues. We have been in house for 7 weeks and still don’t have key appliances. Follow up on punch list is weak. Overall house is great. Pleased with build but frustrated with follow up. Too many “the other guy did it “ excuses. Someone needs to take responsibility. There were promises made and not kept. The work to complete the home continued after we moved in. We’ve had several warranty items that needs addressing, one item we’ve had a visit 3 separate times. Bath is still not complete nor have we had a final cleanup. I will take responsibility for signing off on completed items but I was relying on trust and word being kept.

The lack of care taken in the build was disappointing compared to the talk up of how great the quality was. The young lady selling the house was very helpful and worked with me and my relator on getting the perfect lot. after that was accomplished I could rarely get in touch with her and she was short and would only communicate with email. I ended up dealing with here associate more and he was extremely helpful and pleasant. after paying for my home I received my keys from the design assistant she was very pleasant and helpful. I have never heard from the young lady that sold me the house? The contract was pleasant to work with. I don't feel he gave me enough information in the design meeting. It has been the first time I have built a house and was unaware of what was considered extras. I have submitted a work order and waiting response week out. I am enjoying my home and I like it. a few thing I would have done differently. I have been a bit disappointed for the value. This is our third new home buying experience and overall it was not a great one. We had a closing date that was moved, we a an fairly significant closing addendum for items that were still not finished at the time of our new closing date. We are still working on getting a few of those items done almost two months after close. The home itself is beautiful, but there is some question about the quality of the build and what we cannot see or what may come up in the future.

Home buyers need to follow up closely during the process or get a third party inspector because a lot of mistakes happen.

Meets code, but certainly doesn't exceed. Low quality fixtures and paint. Very nice friendly folks
