I was very excited about the opportunity to move north of Dallas. I love this area! I believe the best quality living is north of Dallas. After the decision had been made to move, we had to find a builder who was both affordable and reliable. I asked my previous builder who he would recommend and he did not hesitate recommended Highland Homes. I would have to say I am fairly impressed with the quality of the work. It is a few things I would have liked to see of a little bit better quality. For the most part, I believe we have a builder that will help increase value in our home and make our ...

Buying your home is fun with Highland Homes

Generally, the buying process was quick and easy! The price of the house was in a reasonable range, although there are some unexpected surprises of paying extra for some of the developer’s own responsibilities to bring essential services to the area! In addition, I don’t expect to worry about the absence of blinds, funs and even a few of window screens are still missing! However, the properties of Highland Homes are fantastic! The administration and the people are great to work with! I love their lending practices and their title company, they help to understand everything! Enjoy working ...

For the price I paid and the interest on the loan, they should have taken more time to perfect the completions; have more space in the bathroom design, more patio space, and even a study room. Also, for the cost of the HOA we should have an indoor pool that we could use all year round.

Unwilling to accept simple changes (without excessive fees)

Highland Homes would not consider moving light switches lower or making bathroom doorways wider to accommodate federal ADA disability requirements. A compromise was offered but required an unreasonably large deposit. As a result, our elderly relatives who use a wheelchair have difficulty navigating our new house. Builder misunderstood change order for placement of additional outdoor lighting. We were charged nearly $600 for them to make the correction. Builder has very responsive to minor defects since taking ownership. One issue persists, though, causing our kitchen to smell like raw ...

our experience with both Seth and Lesli has been excellent. Both have been very responsive. Our concern has been with the quality of work of the sub contractors. Some have had to return many times to get it right. Quite frustrating!

Jason was amazing to work with from to start to finish, as was Jeff. There are some workmanship concerns on a few places in the house (flooring upstairs, stairs being weak and loud, carpet having places that protrude).

Highland Homes - The home overall is a great home.

The home overall is a great home. I had a lot of rough times with the builder with things not been done right seem as they were taking a lot of shortcuts to cut cost or either the trades didn't care. I have since moved into home and the trades throw their trash on the side of home, they have walked down sod which is nothing but mud now paint on my side and up against my home and I've said something mortar mix thrown all against home, window and A/C unit. Happy with home but not happy on how the trades not held accountable for damaging my home and leaving mess for me to clean up.

Our sales manager provided useful suggestions on our new home design and floor plan enhancements. Both our sales manager and construction manager were accessible and responsive to our questions and requests during the new home building process. This builder provided several floor plan options that were attractive. Our new home building process took 7 months and I wish it hadn’t taken so long.

Our experience with highland homes was for the most part a pleasant one. From start to finish the communication, customer service, and punctuation of our build timeline was exceptional. Tracy and James together made our experience pretty painless and exciting. Looking forward to making our house a home now. Thank you!

Drainage continues to be an issue

I have been pretty happy throughout the process. Several of the issues I have logged were resolved quickly. The only outstanding issue is one of the biggest. There is standing water on both the side and back yard far longer than acceptable(48 hours). I have requested resolution since the day I bought the house but the issue has not been resolved. It is a good thing it is not against the directly foundation but considering the size of the yard it is not acceptable to have standing water in those areas.
