Zero complaints about the customer service. Everyone we interacted with during purchase and the build process was phenomenal. Our grievances are tied to the quality of materials, workmanship and the lack of QC. Our expectations were high after seeing HH’s model homes across several different communities. The house they built us definitely did not measure up to those expectations.

I’ll start by saying that HH was by no means terrible and in the end we are very happy with our home and it’s beautiful and the finishes HH offers are all very nice. That being said, my biggest gripe with HH is likely that I came in with higher expectations having built homes in the past with other builders in different states where the process was exceptional. I came in expecting the same and HH fell short. Everything eventually got done and taken care of but it involved a lot more leg work and follow up on my end to ensure things were getting done and were correct ( there were several errors.) In the end the attention to detail and lack of communication at all levels Sales, construction manager and HH loans was disappointing, but to their credit they have for the most part been responsive and taken care of everything once I followed up. Negative: Extreme disparity between standard and upgrade expectations. Very confusing! Extremely low quality workmanship! Continuous need for repairs before closing. Disrespect for owner’s investment. Dents and gouges in upgraded cupboards. Positives: Great interaction with sales staff and design center during building process. Quality fixtures, appliances, flooring, etc. Construction manager’s attention to concerns. Quick follow up to issues after closing.

If your sales person is Haeli then be specific to the details. She doesn’t provide you with any details as she thinks it doesn’t matter to us. But end of the day we are paying money so ask every detail of lot inside and outside of perimeter. These people just work for the money and don’t value you after signing the sales agreement. I realized cheap products being used in some places of the construction. Highland homes loan officer Lindsay, not provided any steps details. Loan process was not transparent. I was not as happy with the quality of my Highland home as I was my last one. The mason work was sloppy and the cabinet work was also not the best. My sales person was non-existent, only talked to him 3 times during the process. Didn’t help advise and wanted upgrades but were not aware. Our contractor Alex was amazing. The closing was painless. Overall I would say average to moderate experience.

Although I love the house and the location , the overall moving process lacked in several areas. The exterior of the house is different than the one we thought it would be. We only found out about that later in the process. When we received our closing date, we thought everything would be ready for the move in date but it wasn’t. We did the final walkthrough one day before closing and noticed that there were items missing, like Mirrors, Shower Window, Door bell and Oven vents. Our builder did tell us that we had the option of postponing the move in date or have these things added before we moved. At that point everything was already scheduled to move in so that wasn’t an option for us. The day of our move in, the house was nasty dirty. Like dust on the bathroom drawers , counters, etc. it looks like their cleaning crew came to clean the floors only. Our builder did stay on top of things after we moved and got everything that was missing and communication was great! We know the market has been crazy of late and labor is scarce so we totally understand why those things happened but definitely wished we were told of it before that that was a possibility . I want to start off by saying that everyone we have worked with at Highland has been phenomenal -- Juan (builder), Kathi and team (front office), both Brians (one helping with issue resolution and one a customer service rep). This is the first home we've built, and the entire time was helpful, informative, responsive, and very kind. We couldn't have asked for a better group of people to work with. We are concerned about the quality of our home and hope we made a good decision investing in a Highland Home. When you purchase a Highland Home, you know you will pay more for quality. We have heard nothing but great things about Highland prior to buying our new home. We have had more issues than we would have liked with our home. We have had to file several warranty claims, mostly for minor items, but things you would expect to not have to worry about in a new home. I understand the current state of things has likely made it more challenging -- there are less laborers available and supplies have been tight. However, we feel there could have been more quality control checks in the process to help resolve some of these issues before we moved in. Any Warranty request we have submitted has been resolved in a timely manner, so we cannot complain about that. We are looking forward to getting all items taken care of via the Warranty process and we hope to enjoy our home for years to come. ... More

While we understand supply chain issues, we were pretty disappointed when we moved in. The builder did respond to the issues, but some? They kept coming back. Even now, we've kind of "given up" and we'll deal with things on our own. The builder over promised, and under delivered. We were told we would be "wowed" when we moved in, and we were, but for the wrong reasons, more like "wow, another thing is wrong." Don't get us wrong, we are happy with our house, we love it. The issues just took the wind out of our sails.

Poor acoustics in building construction.

The worker shortage has left Highland Homes, and other builders, with mediocre workers who just don't care. I do not blame Highland Homes, but we are left with shotty workmanship due to our countries inability to get back to work. We all suffer.

The sales experience was wonderful with Todd. He made everything as smooth as possible and was very accommodating. Our build experience, however, was stressful many times, Our first contractor, John, was very nice and professional but there were many hangups in what we asked for vs. what we got, mainly with countertops and my daughter's closet. We were given a new contractor. Garrett, to date, has followed through on everything we asked of. Unfortunately, we've noticed so many oversights since we've moved in, so the quality workmanship, has left a bad taste in our mouth. The project was not completed by our closing date, so after move in, we still had workers in our home, There's been some items that have had to be repaired multiple times to meet our satisfaction. Again, nothing on Garrett....he's been very professional and courteous. We just feel like, for the price we paid, we should have received top notch service from the beginning to end. Make sure everything is 100% completed prior to close it’s not 2 months and items that should have been done before closing still isn’t . My banisters are still wet with paint and a lot of paint things wasn’t done that we pointed out. Now being in the home certain things with my layout is really irritating ex. Bathroom toilet room. I really wanted this to be my forever home

Highland has great people and I do believe they are a great builder. However, there are a lot of issues with our home. The craftsmanship in many areas of the house is very poor. We trust each item will be addressed by the builder.

Service after the sale is poor. We’re told GE Profile appliances, many substituted by lower priced models

Highland Homes are good. It is a better home than a lot of other builders I’ve seen. Certain things could have been done better.

Local Highland Team are great. Local Subcontractors are Poor. Product and materials vary from good to poor. Processes need work.

Love the people at Highland Homes and their home designs. The home building industry has a shortage of qualified skilled labor so end product suffers. I have maybe two walls in the house that does not have a texture/paint flaws. I thought a half million dollar product would look better. I think all builders have the same problems though. Again the people at Highland Homes are OUTSTANDING!!!

I believe that I got a great home, however there were many things that had to be done well after the move in. I believe it was rushed and therefore much was missed. The employees of highland however have been really great and truly want to help so that has made it easier to deal with things that were missed. Overall it is a great place to live and a great builder to purchase with. The biggest thing they need to work on is finishing everything to the customers expectations and get a new cleaning crew!!!! I had to pay over $400 after moving in just to get my house clean! Worst cleaning crew ever!!!! If they continue to use the ladies they are using now expect to have to clean your house multiple times over just to get it livable to expectations! Paint is still on my floors, caulk in the drains, grout in the drains, trash in the yard. Windows I’m still cleaning 2 months after the fact due to paint on them I can’t get off. The attention to quality control was almost impossible because of the "assembly line" process of a single construction manager trying to oversee multiple homes (15 plus in our case). The electrical work was incomplete and incompetent at times. Lack of crown molding and the use of basic base molding was dissappointing. Trash pickup in and around the house was infrequent . The choices for lighting were few, and upcharges were excessive for additional ceiling fans (should have been standard for bedrooms and porch). Too much vehicle conjestion on the narrow street. The house design and the beauty of the Mustang Lakes development is attractive, but the process of a single street being constructed simultaneously was frustrating, especially with houses only 10 feet apart. We have mixed feelings about our experience with Highland Homes. While we love our new home, it does have its flaws. The Short Version The overall purchase process was alright; everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional. However, several issues arose during construction that have left us somewhat disappointed. The Long Version Initially, everything was going well. The team was professional and helpful. Unfortunately, a construction fire early in the process caused a significant delay. Thankfully, no one was hurt. As construction progressed, we began noticing several concerning issues: -Mysterious stains on the plywood -Windows left open after drywall installation, allowing water inside -A leak in the area where fire repairs were made, due to missing shingles To their credit, Highland Homes addressed the major structural issues, and the house is structurally well-built. We had the option to back out, but after consulting with several lawyers, we decided to proceed. Our main disappointment lies in the sloppy delivery: -Mortar chunks left on the porch and patio -Miscolored concrete and sloppy patch repairs -Poor construction cleanup before closing, including paint splatters on the tile and cabinetry -Smeared silicone caulk on tiles, making them difficult to clean -Questionable smears on the walls/ ceiling We expected a higher level of quality from Highland Homes, especially since this isn't our first build and we knew what to look out for. Everything was going great until the day after funds were transferred on closing. There are still items from our second walk-through that are pending. There is absolutely no communication on getting these items fixed. I have called multiple people at corporate and have always been redirected and left voicemails because i was reassured that I would get a return call but that hasn't happened yet. It has been over two months since closing and items from our walkthrough are still pending. The process with our construction manager was seamless. However after closing, It's hard to reach anyone and communication is minimal to none. I would suggest that anyone buying a house to make sure everything is fixed before transferring funds. I can't imagine how horrible it will be submitting warranty request when items from before closing haven't been done. It is night and day difference how highland homes treats you when they already have your money vs when they don't. Our sales folks and builder never seemed to be on the same page from the get go. Despite several attempts to bridge the gap between us and the builder, we had to bring in the senior manager to help rectify the situation. Once that was done, the customer service and communication improved to an acceptable level. The home was delivered later than promised, but the quality is definitely there.

Make sure you get your own home inspector!

Cabinets are worse than off the shelf Hone Depot or Lowe’s . Typical drywall and electric issues that a production builder does. Minimal oversight and although some stuff gets fixed, the overall house is way overpriced. At least we did not spend more for the same builder in another community.

My biggest gripe is the homeowner doesn’t really get a say so on the house. For example the height of the shower head. I’m 5ft but the shower head is placed so high I had to buy a removable shower head so I could bathe. You don’t get to choose which side the locks go on the gates. It’s perceived that you are part of the decision making as far as the house but you really aren’t. You don’t even get to choose the type of door bell you want or where it’s placed.
