Highland Homes - Overall, the house is good from a construction standpoint.

Overall, the house is good from a construction standpoint. However, the painter did a TERRIBLE job, lots of missed spots. Even after pointing out several paint spot and areas of poorly done sheetrock during the final walkthrough, before being told those were “just cosmetic” and made to feel like we were being too picky about walls with giant areas of missing paint and noticeably uneven sheetrock. This is after they tried to sneak in a different countertop and tell me it was the same thing because they couldn’t find the one I ordered. (They did fix this after arguing with me and me calling ...

The Highland sales representative was knowledgeable and extremely easy to work with. I believe my project manager made his best effort to handle the many issues that I'm sure are common to a new build but there's a good possibility he was juggling too many things at one time. He probably needs an assistant to keep him on track. He hasn't been great at responding to texts and/or phone calls. I believe he's sincere in his desire to do a good job but I still have some minor things that need addressing. I would recommend Highland Homes but definitely with a word of caution - don't allow issues to ...

It took a while to have plumbing issue resolved. Quality is not up to standards, I would expect, as corners were cut. Tile in downstairs bathroom is cracked and hidden in corner, wall to upstairs was poorly batched and noticeable, cheap paint throughout house.

Enjoyed our new home...but construction is noise is unbearable

We have been here about a month and a half. We find the house build very nice........but as we are in Harvest, a community in the works, it is 8 PM in the evening, and one street over, there is still heavy construction vehicles working! This is after a day of loud blaring music from the construction workers on the house next door. I THOUGHT THERE WERE POSTED HOURS for deliveries and construction. Had I not have to get up for work at 3 AM for work, i might not see this as important.......but this is very annoying!

We did our closing in August. During closure, we had few things which were pending, but trusting the builder went ahead and closed. Its been 3 months since then which has ruined the overall experience since those list of issues have still not closed.

When I called my sales agent to delay the closing for one week then she denied saying that she is going to cancel the contract and house was even not completed. Post closing I have to follow up with builder many time to get the things fixed but still its on. I am definitely not happy. They even didn't share the electrical upgrade list with price breakup.

No internet for three months

Highland Homes passed the buck for not having Internet to the Developer. Either way they should have been able to make sure that their new residents get Internet, a basic necessity for work from home folks. They didn't provide any alternatives for this either and their contract states that they are not responsible for making sure Internet is available at their homes. Apart from that they have been very responsive to fix things, and their workmanship seems above average. They charge extra considerably for having rocker switches instead of the toggle switches ($650), adding recessed lights ...

We love the floorplan and how the home looks, but it was not finished by the closing time despite all the promises and now almost months after closing we still have unfinished items. I spent tons of time following up with the manager on finishing it and very frustrated with it. Thq quality of finishing is another point of frustration. There is no attention to details, a lot of stuff done roughly, uneven, with spots, sharp edges dents, scratches, etc. The builder didn't care about fixing it unless we insist

Highland has issues just like lower quality builders

Highland has excellent customer service, but the workers they use will cut every corner and leave your brand new home unfinished and looking like a home 1/3rd the price. Micromanaging every aspect of the build is required and even then more mistakes are made. This is acceptable according to them in this current labor market. Wife, daughter, baby and I have even had to relocate to a hotel(covered by Highland), so they could fix issues, 1 of which was a HUGE saftey violation nearly 1.5mos after closing. Im sure Im just the outlier here as Highland is one of tbe best, but it doesn’t change ...

Although Highland is traditionally known as a high quality home builder, our experience was underwhelming. In the end the same trades work on all the houses, so the quality is really driven by supervising the trades closely. Unfortunately that didn't happen in our case. In fact, I don't think we have a straight wall in the entire house. We also just discovered our kitchen island and related countertops aren't level. Those sorts of things shouldn't be issues from any builder, especially one like Highland.

It seems like corners were cut when building my home. Nearly every had paint issues or flaws, my back door looks like it was used before. Some of the trim isn't completely against the wall or is cracking. The wood above my garage is already showing wear, my fence looks like it was done with the cheapest wood possible, and my garage floor already has pits and damage. I like the floor plan of my house, but the quality is definitely not there

Highland Homes - 1 - Sales experience was great.

1 - Sales experience was great. 2 - Communication during the build process was poor and items that were discussed during sale did not happen during the build. Some of the problems were eventually solved but it was a struggle. 3 - The structural quality of the home is great but some of the finish work was poor (paint, cupboard paint, caulking, tile work, clogged drains)

Highland Homes - I think the quality of materials and workmanship could be improved,

I think the quality of materials and workmanship could be improved, especially for the price point. Also there were some pretty obvious issues that were not addressed until I said something, which makes me feel like they were hoping I wouldn’t notice so they wouldn’t have to redo it. There should be a standard of excellence from the builder that contractors understand and comply with or face some kind of consequence. I felt there were too many issues that needed addressing during the walk through and afterward. Because of the price of the home, I do wish higher quality materials would’ve been ...

We spent a good amount of money on our home and when we finally moved in, we were and still are disappointed by how many issues we are having in the home already. We have only lived there for two months. The quality of work is subpar. It seems like they rushed the job at the end and used subpar materials to get the job done. Perhaps they didn’t have access to the better materials due to COVID but that shouldn’t result in our home already have cracks in the paint and doors not being able to be closed and opened correctly, including the front main door. The tubs are already peeling. The ...

Too long to respond on warranty claims

House quality is great but there are always some of what I would call normal things that pass through during inspection that we have to open warranty claims to get it fixed. And the response time is not ideal... Sometimes the builder will try to push you an easy solution for you to fix or take advantage of your lack of technical knowledge... Having a hard time to have the builder recognizing that my backyard mow has a lots of imperfections which my 3 yrs old son twisted his ankle due to holes between grass sods. Also there are several types of grass so the backyard grass is all colored with ...

Home was clean when I moved in and ready for me to take over. The service from our PM was great however after we moved in several items came to light that needed attention. Our PM had the small items corrected in no time but the items left on the list have not been corrected such as our dishwasher issue with the hot water needed to clean the dishes etc. Hot water takes too long to get to the master shower and dishwasher so we have a lot of wasted water etc. You cannot foresee these underling issues before you close. After my investigation on this issue all of the highland homes have this ...

Don't get me wrong, we like our new house. Our frustration was with the build process and post close process. It feels like quality control in the build process is non-existent. My advice? Be diligent in making sure everything is completed appropriately. Be demanding to ensure you are fully satisfied.

Our home buying process was easy. No hiccups along the way and it was a pleasure working with Daniel, that part was a 5 out 5! However after we moved in we noticed a number of issues that weren’t done to our liking. We even noticed a few “blue tape” pieces still on the spots where we left them, signaling no one even saw it. We were told that we would notice things but I did not expect major appliances needing to be fixed or changed out. I gotta say based on our awesome building process and your reputation, I was expecting a little more out of the home itself.
