The builder had gone above and beyond to make sure we get a quality home. With us being first time homeowners, there were a lot of things we would have overlooked but Highland homes educated us and fixed all the issues that we would have missed. We are so happy we selected a home builder who cares about their work and makes sure the process was as smooth as possible.

Highland homes pulls out all the stops and pays great attention to detail! IN addition, their sales staff is simply the best and the main reason we made the decision to go with Highland Homes! One of the best decisions we made in our move to Texas!

This was my fourth highland to build. Still a good builder but their quality and flexibility has slipped.

After a long search for my first home I decided to build with highland homes. Little did I know my home would be riddled with problems and poor quality control from the builder. The functionality of my house is ok. It is sealed up tight and the appliances they provided work just fine. That’s the positive. My builder assured me that he would be in contact with me every step of the way, this was far from the case. During my preconstruction meeting it was made known that I’d like to upgrade the outside and add decorative instead of brick. I was told no that it was too late to add that. I love to detail my truck and friends cars so I also asked for a sink in my garage, again I was told no because unannounced to me the slab had been poured and the plumbing had been done. I was told they could not tie into any plumbing lines, again no framing had been done yet. This being my first home and only 20 minutes away from where I previously lived I came during construction almost every other day. I received a call from my builder about how I wanted to install the prewire for surround sound. I got up and drove out to the house to see my framing had been complete (again no notification from the builder). I saw that they had already prewired the surround sound without my input on it. My center channel speaker is now prewired ABOVE where the tv will be mounted....I had under cabinet kitchen lights put in as an upgrade only to find out that the switch for these lights would be in a hallway in another room away from the kitchen (again zero communication from the builder)...when I asked for the builder to move it he told me he did not want to do surgery on a newly built house. After a debate he agreed to move the switch but now it is next to my bedroom and not by the lights. During the final phases of construction the painting and caulking was laughable. My baseboards have no quarter round so they are caulked to the floor. The workers literally spread the caulk with their fingers and would smear it all over the floor. There was paint splattered all over my floors. When I asked the builder to clean it up he told me that this was as clean as it gets. He said this is “construction clean”. I had to take pictures and email the sales team to ask if this was the norm for highland homes. They assured me this was not the case and my entire house had to be caulked again. My bathroom mirrors are installed incorrectly and simply put on the countertop and leaned up against the wall. The workers did not caulk behind the bathroom counter tops as the mirrors are in the way. So there is an opening for condensation and bugs or whatever else can get down behind the countertops. I told him to please fix this but I was told that this was “construction 101”. When I went into other homes built the mirrors are flush up against the wall and the counter tops properly caulked. There were several holes punched inside of my kitchen cabinets in order to find the gas line for the cooktop. I had to tell the builder to patch these holes instead of him just doing it. The vinyl plank floors were already starting to peel up during the final walk through. There are several dings in every single door frame that they did not fix. I found 3 big chips in the quartz bathroom counter tops that the builder said he could fill. It took the builder four separate attempts to get the color right so people could not see the repair. Why not just replace it and make it right? I have also found an issue with the gutters not draining properly. My windows all have paint splattered on them from sloppy work that I was told I would have to clean up. “Construction clean” remember? I was pressured into closing by my builder and I can honestly say I regret it. Highland homes ruined my new home buying experience and I’m hiring my own people to come finish the touch up work that should have been the first place. I saved my money for 9 years after college and lived with my mother during that time. I’m a first responder and don’t want to have to stress about the build quality of my first home but....every day since I have moved in I found new issues with this house. My advice is to use another builder other than highland homes. They simply get a home built as fast as they can and move along. Very disappointed!! ... More

Outstanding service, very satisfied!!!

Our builder, Spencer, and our agent, Sia were both professional and timely on their interactions with us. The house exceeeded our expectations and we would build all over again if we had to.

We have enjoyed purchasing a Highland Home and feel that it is truly a beautiful, well built home. Their response time to any issues we have had has been very good and we are overall very pleased with our purchase!

Everyone from the sales office to the project manager were outstanding. We looked at several communities, not just the one where we purchased. The Highland people at every community were friendly and helpful--very generous with their time. We are thrilled with our new home and the process we went through was very pleasant.

Highland Homes built new a beautiful home that I know and can see is superior quality. For a first time home buyer, they make it so easy and fun!

Not covering flooring after installed caused some minor damage. Paint overspray, muddy shoes on carpets, some small paint drops on carpet. Very minor, but many subs did not remove shoes even though there was sign on door. Also, better communication on what we could have expected from pavers on back patio. They were not what we anticipated. We should have asked to see example. All in all, Garrett was very responsive to any and all concerns we had, and we were very happy with Garrett as our builder.

You'll see similar floor plans with other builders, but you won't see the same quality in materials.

I have told everyone not to buy here

This is our second Highland Homes new build (the first was in 2012 in The Tribute.) The experience this time around was not at all the same. Overall, we like our house but only because we had to nitpick and complain about things from the day the foundation was poured. Nearly every surface in our house had an issue that we had to manage the builder on. We did have some resolution on certain issues, but overall, the quality of this build and the experience was not what we envisioned. We will probably build another house again in the next few years and will most likely not consider Highland. Also, we are very disappointed that even after our negative survey we filled out at closing to discuss these issues (closing date was October 4) not one person from the Highland Homes corporate sales office has reached out to us for feedback. They clearly do not care or value the information on these surveys. ... More

Buying a house from Highland has been a great experience. Very smooth, and they have stood behind their quality and made a few small things right without delay. I don’t anticipate buying another house, but if I did, I would sure buy from Highland again.

Great work and customer service.

The building process was so very easy and Jared our construction manager was a delight to work with. Any concern was quickly explained or addressed and the final punch list was very minimal. We totally recommend Highland Homes to anyone, you will love your new home.

Our experience with Highland Homes was amazing. We pulled ourselves out of a contract with Pulte Homes due to a severe lack of trust and questionable build quality. Coming across Highland was a true blessing. I never would have imagined that a homebuilder could be so attentive and accommodating. We love our Highland home and would recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy builder!

We have had no issues with the quality of our home. Our builder rep Julio and sales rep John were great. Julio even went above and beyond on our walk thru and fixed everything, even the smallest little blemishes that I never noticed. They care about their quality and are personal and do not make you feel like once you close, you are gone. Julio has even stopped by the house to make sure any tickets submitted were taken care of (new light fixtures).

We are so grateful that we had Highland Homes build our house!! They have been willing to stand behind their work and make sure our every request is taken care of. We feel secure in our purchase knowing they have done a quality job and are there if we need them. Even after closing on our new home, Highland Homes has not disappeared. They are super friendly and respond quickly. We are so impressed!

Several long time friends had told me their Highland Home was the best they every bought... I listened and so far they're right!
