Hello- Our sales associates for the house build and the front office were top notch and still are. High quality folks. They have been terrific. I even wrote a email raving about them. Our home closed three plus months ago and we still cannot get some of the items fixed that have been on the closing documents. Many things have been addressed but we are not complete. Lots of reasons why, but we have paid in full for the house being completed and have been very patient for what seems like a long time.

Highland Homes responded:
Hi Bill – Thank you for taking time to leave us a review, and for your kind words about our Sales team at Harvest. I am sorry to hear that you experienced some items of concern after you have moved into your home. After speaking with our team, I am pleased to hear that our project manager has been working with you and that some items have already been completed, and the remaining items are on schedule. We appreciate your patience with us as we work towards resolving your concerns. Sales process was very positive. Building process less so. Great building superintendent assigned to build. Midstream he quit for a new builder. Replacement hood but not aware of all issues that had been agreed to. Supply chain issues. We have been in house for 7 weeks and still don’t have key appliances. Follow up on punch list is weak. Overall house is great. Pleased with build but frustrated with follow up. Too many “the other guy did it “ excuses. Someone needs to take responsibility. Can’t always expect us to believe that the other guy is so irresponsible. Who chose the other guy? The ...

The current market has allowed even the top builders to do the minimum because there is a line of people to buy the homes. We had an average experience with a builder that I went into with high expectations based on family in real estate and being a long time resident of DFW. If Highland is now ok I would hate to experience the builders that don't have the best reputations.

This was a tough situation Covid and weather made things go slower than normal. On one hand they were very responsive to making upgrades, changes and things that we were paying for. We did need to rush into the house a little sooner than normal due to the lease we had expiring so there were some touch of things that needed to be done and that is acceptable. The biggest negative I have is with the yard. The sod was dormmate when it was laid down and then the weather hit. It is starting to come around but there are large patches with no grass. Second the irrigation people didn't level ...

Highland Homes - There’s a massive lack of detail with highland homes.

There’s a massive lack of detail with highland homes. Maybe it was just our experience though? We had three different building supervisors, I don’t know maybe they just didn’t care. I can walk into any room in my house and find a handful of things that are wrong. On top of that, there are a lot of things that just look sloppy. No attention to detail, they just threw everything up as fast as possible and there was no supervisor watching. For the amount of money we paid and the quality of work performed, not impressed.

Highland Homes responded:
Hi Dustin, I appreciate you taking the time to leave us a detailed review of your experience during the build process as it helps us to better understand opportunities for improvement. I am sorry that this has been your experience as we strive to ensure a quality finish in the homes that we build. After speaking with our team, I am pleased to hear that we are in the process of addressing and resolving these concerns for you. Not what We Expected

The sales representatives were fantastic. We were always treated with respect and courtesy when visiting the sales/design center. Once in the house, things changed slightly. On move in day, we attempted to hook up our dryer (electric) when I was shocked due to the plug being wired incorrectly. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the plug had no ground thus allowing for electric feedback. I had to re-wire the plug correctly. Next, after a further (detailed) inspection of the house it was discovered that there are many quality related issues that in my opinion are ...

Overall Highland Homes is one of the better builders but their subcontractors are not that great. They are rushing through the work, making mistakes and have poor quality craftsmanship. The communication with the sales team could have been better especially when it came to moving the closing date.

The homes are being built be the same mediocre subs as the "lower end" builders in the neighborhood and as a result the homes have the same mediocre end result. The materials themselves are fine and what I would expect at this procepoint, but are often installed wrong or with no regard to workmanship (chipped tiles, broken studs, miscut carpet, missing hurricane ties, scratched windows, chipped cabinets, chipped counters, etc.) and getting anything corrected before or after closing is like pulling teeth. Even once our construction manager Trystan agrees something is an issue it requires ...

Home Buying Experience Was......Ok

This is our third new home buying experience and overall it was not a great one. We had a closing date that was moved, we a an fairly significant closing addendum for items that were still not finished at the time of our new closing date. We are still working on getting a few of those items done almost two months after close. The home itself is beautiful, but there is some question about the quality of the build and what we cannot see or what may come up in the future.

We purchased a Highland home in April of this year and have had multiple issues. One of the main issues was our granite kitchen countertop had a crack that ran from one side to the other and our previous construction mgr didn't want to replace it and kept telling us it was a natural fissure which it was not. We had to go to his boss to get this resolved and it took several weeks but they finally replaced it 2 weeks after we moved in. We did our 10 day walk through before our closing day and marked multiple issues that needed to be fixed. Several of these issues were not addressed and ...

Well if you show a model home and say you would give a customer the same exact without only one item the customer needs to hold your word for it. If the customer is paying for a premium product its not right to short change them. The fence color did not match and we were told they will fix the issue which ended up not getting fixed to date. The outside up-lights went missing and that is one of the signature aspect that made me go for the model that i bought. All similar models next to me have the and apparently when i asked i was told it was am upgrade which is not what i was told at the time ...

We closed on February 19th and STILL have issues waiting to be corrected. At first we were told materials had to be ordered and they were delayed. Now we are told no one will come out with the COVID scare. Not overly confident that my issues are going to be taken care of ever at this point.

Build quality not good in this community

Highland does not adhere to its quality promise in Painted Tree. The construction manager who originally worked on the house left and the new one shrugged when pointed with the issues. Everything was rushed a lot including the home orientation. Just after closing the home we started identifying issues with flooring, issues with water leakage in washer/dryer unit which damaged kitchen flooring. Lawn is not setup correctly with water not draining. Even though the customer service is good and responsive, we did not expect the issues we faced in a new construction home. Extremely ...

Not a good buying experience with Highland Homes. They were not forthcoming re lending and Sales Manager Margaret D. was never available and when she was she was not helpful. We made some bad decisions and are in a Highland Home which is a result of those decisions. The building contract managers were great and extremely helpful as was the assistant sales manager Kelly A. Otherwise extremely difficult experience.

The lack of care taken in the build was disappointing compared to the talk up of how great the quality was. The young lady selling the house was very helpful and worked with me and my relator on getting the perfect lot. after that was accomplished I could rarely get in touch with her and she was short and would only communicate with email. I ended up dealing with here associate more and he was extremely helpful and pleasant. after paying for my home I received my keys from the design assistant she was very pleasant and helpful.
