I’m disappointed and this builder is not highly value,

Highland designs a beautiful house, but they can't finish it with quality. No attention to detail, no pride in the finished product, and every time an issue was corrected, something else was damaged. Their painters should never be allowed to paint a Highland Home again. The employees are very nice, but their job is 10x's harder because of the subpar trades. Options are WAY over priced and they missed our estimated closing date by 3+ months. They can only blame COVID so many times before it just becomes poor planning and execution on their part.

Since moving in, I have had issues with electrical components such as the dryer outlet and breakers. I have submitted multiple requests to apply my warranty on these issues, but I have not received assistance. This has not been an enjoyable experience.

Nelli is great, but we have had many issues related to the quality of workmanship, responsiveness of the repairs/resolution. Initial supervisor resigned and did not correct multiple things. Serious drainage issue in our backyard. Poor Grading, etc. Now we are trying to put in a pool and we were told there was room to put one in and meet the requirements. Now we are being told differently by the HOA GM for Liberty. Our decision to purchase this home was we thought everything would be high quality and information would be correct. the craftsmanship is horrible. Now that I have been in my forever home For going on two months, I notice something new every day. If I was to ever buy a new home it will not be a highland home.

First 2 weeks had good response as to items that need attention. The last 6 weeks response was good from contractors that Highland Homes contacted, but not from Highland Homes as to items that would be handled directly by Highland Homes.

After a long search for my first home I decided to build with highland homes. Little did I know my home would be riddled with problems and poor quality control from the builder. The functionality of my house is ok. It is sealed up tight and the appliances they provided work just fine. That’s the positive. My builder assured me that he would be in contact with me every step of the way, this was far from the case. During my preconstruction meeting it was made known that I’d like to upgrade the outside and add decorative instead of brick. I was told no that it was too late to add that. I love to detail my truck and friends cars so I also asked for a sink in my garage, again I was told no because unannounced to me the slab had been poured and the plumbing had been done. I was told they could not tie into any plumbing lines, again no framing had been done yet. This being my first home and only 20 minutes away from where I previously lived I came during construction almost every other day. I received a call from my builder about how I wanted to install the prewire for surround sound. I got up and drove out to the house to see my framing had been complete (again no notification from the builder). I saw that they had already prewired the surround sound without my input on it. My center channel speaker is now prewired ABOVE where the tv will be mounted....I had under cabinet kitchen lights put in as an upgrade only to find out that the switch for these lights would be in a hallway in another room away from the kitchen (again zero communication from the builder)...when I asked for the builder to move it he told me he did not want to do surgery on a newly built house. After a debate he agreed to move the switch but now it is next to my bedroom and not by the lights. During the final phases of construction the painting and caulking was laughable. My baseboards have no quarter round so they are caulked to the floor. The workers literally spread the caulk with their fingers and would smear it all over the floor. There was paint splattered all over my floors. When I asked the builder to clean it up he told me that this was as clean as it gets. He said this is “construction clean”. I had to take pictures and email the sales team to ask if this was the norm for highland homes. They assured me this was not the case and my entire house had to be caulked again. My bathroom mirrors are installed incorrectly and simply put on the countertop and leaned up against the wall. The workers did not caulk behind the bathroom counter tops as the mirrors are in the way. So there is an opening for condensation and bugs or whatever else can get down behind the countertops. I told him to please fix this but I was told that this was “construction 101”. When I went into other homes built the mirrors are flush up against the wall and the counter tops properly caulked. There were several holes punched inside of my kitchen cabinets in order to find the gas line for the cooktop. I had to tell the builder to patch these holes instead of him just doing it. The vinyl plank floors were already starting to peel up during the final walk through. There are several dings in every single door frame that they did not fix. I found 3 big chips in the quartz bathroom counter tops that the builder said he could fill. It took the builder four separate attempts to get the color right so people could not see the repair. Why not just replace it and make it right? I have also found an issue with the gutters not draining properly. My windows all have paint splattered on them from sloppy work that I was told I would have to clean up. “Construction clean” remember? I was pressured into closing by my builder and I can honestly say I regret it. Highland homes ruined my new home buying experience and I’m hiring my own people to come finish the touch up work that should have been the first place. I saved my money for 9 years after college and lived with my mother during that time. I’m a first responder and don’t want to have to stress about the build quality of my first home but....every day since I have moved in I found new issues with this house. My advice is to use another builder other than highland homes. They simply get a home built as fast as they can and move along. Very disappointed!! ... More

Not off to a good start...

I have highlighted the issues from visual inspection prior closing and engaged a third-party inspection company to do the home inspection. Majority of the issues are unattended despite several follow-up by email, text messages and phone calls.

Beware, if you get a deal when it comes to pricing. They will treat you like your dud something wrong it 12 months for my house was ready for move in and its still not complete

The actual buying, and designing was pretty good. The build process was an absolute nightmare; builder communication was horrible if it occurred at all. The issue was not a lack of materials, it was over sights of the design of the home, not following the blue prints. Over all I would not recommend Highland, if I had to do it again I would of chosen a different builder.

great value however terrible service from builder we were assigned to. certainly did not uphold the Highland Homes reputation of professionalism and quality.

I have told everyone not to buy here

Very disappointed. Was encouraged to buy a Highland home for the quality and their workmanship reputation but this is not what I have experienced. The quality of products used is of a very low grade material, the wood trim in the house has very noticeable blemishes, knots and bumps and is very rough causing the paint to constantly flake off. The kitchen sink immediately rusted, it was replaced promptly but it is still a low grade quality stainless so it stains and spots up and if a pan is set in it for a minute it rust the sink, I have never had any of my stainless steel sinks do this. The floors look like a wash board, very uneven they look terrible also they still have glue on them that they have not been able to get off after three attempts. I was told by Highland you cant get concrete even and you can only smooth out so much of an area with the human arm span??? Really this is insulting to my intelligence, I have had tile and wood floors installed in my previous homes and it did not look like this, there are products to prevent this when done properly. The ceiling and walls show defects badly the ceilings have waves this is caused when the sheet rock is not done properly. Many issues have been fixed like one of many the tile work that had been broken on installation where they just grouted between the break instead of replacing. The concrete work at the front entrance and the patio is terrible the entrance was refinished twice but still looks awful so with all this I worry now about the integrity of the slab. When I went to clean out the windows out I found two fly's that were in there when they painted and they just painted over the top of the fly's. Clearly the contractors they use are low grade as well and they obviously don't care and no one from Highland cares either or supervises these contractors. The blinds they installed are the cheapest possible, they want stay in place. I have no confidence in the quality, stability and integrity of this home I feel like that with this many things wrong that we have seen and are still finding, how many major things are wrong that we cannot see and have not come to light yet and will fall apart after the warranty is out and before they should. It is so disappointing and has stressed me out so much and has made it impossible for me to enjoy my new home. I think the amount of money paid for this home warrants better products and workmanship this was not a low end home. I have owned several homes and this is the worst conditions and experience I have ever incurred. I would welcome and challenge someone from the Corporate Highland homes office to come see my house, I would love to hear their opinion after they have walked through this house. I don't know if something has happened with Highland that has driven the quality and workmanship to go down hill or maybe just an initiative to cut cost to make more money at the home owners expense or the people just do not care anymore. Where is quality control? At this point I would say be very cautious if you are considering a Highland home. The guys at the local field office I have dealt with have been responsive but this does not make up for the issues that I have found. This is not the way I planned on starting retirement I thought I was securing my future with a Highland home. Now I wonder if I have invested poorly and possibly jeopardized my future stability. ... Bought a move-in ready home and remote closing (lived out of state). Have a few issues in the home and the construction manager (CM) is not responsive. For example, the screws on the garage door lever/arm fall apart (Yes, in a brand new house!!) and the lever got disengaged from the rails. CM didn't take it seriously for quality of the product that was delivered and he refused to cover it under warranty. Moved-in late January and still some of the issues in the house have not been fixed. Not a great expereince and we couldn't justify the premium paid to purchase a home from Highland!!

Such a shame. Our first home in Texas was a Highland Home so when we decided to downsize to a townhome we purchased a Highland Home. This was a disastrous mistake!!! Everything from the salesperson to building team has been negative. I do not want to ramble on an on because I definitely could with all of bad experiences. I will just say this. The materials and the craftsmanship are TERRIBLE. Its a battle to fix these things and I don't think it will ever be as it should be. I'm very sorry we closed on this townhome. We should have not moved forward and lost our deposit.

From my experience (first and the LAST) with Highland homes is that they used very very cheep materials. we moved in little over a month now, the master bedroom closet where we hang clothes fell off with the metal bar, on the other side the brackets bending down and the wood piece coming off the wall. both garage doors making scary noise when goes up. kitchen entry door from garage always hits the pantry doors, also highland painted the door hinges. first of all I believe using dead cheep materials and poor supervision caused these issues,

Do your research regarding EVERY home builder, the craftsmanship, the integrity, the build and do not just go off beautiful model homes or beautiful, new communities. Do your research on WHO you can expect living in a brand new area, try to avoid sales talk at all times and be your own salesperson / get a team you personally trust who will have your best interest at heart. Build with a company who builds fairly, prices fairly even if it is more than you want it to be, but focus on all the small details, quality, the different crews and how they treat your property, and any and all members who you have to deal with along the way making sure you state your requirements and expectations. Don't let too much time go by wasted without a lack of responses, handing things poorly with communication, quality, and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who will only make it stressful for you and the environment. Document everything, take pictures of everything, and if your budget is being overstretched, consider going with another reputable, high-quality, more designer so you can actually get what you want and what you expected from the beginning. LOCATION and area is everything, and who is all going to live in your community. Keeping in mind HOA will not do much nor help much at all even though you pay them each month - they are only there to ensure the community looks pretty, stays uniformed and has events to celebrate. ... Things not completed on time. Poor workmanship. Poor delivery. Poor quality of craftsmanship. Poor commitment to homeowner! No ETA. After 3 months into the home, still have so many issue pending. You have forced me to decide that I don't want to live in this house for longer than I have to. No one even thinks like that for a rental home.

We had great expectations when we initially signed in for Highland homes at Lakewood at Brookhollow, prosper but later our experience with the sales and the builder turned to be the worst. It is unfortunate even after paying such a hefty price for the new home by Highland we had to face such an ordeal and still struggling to get many issues fixed. All the work is contracted and there is no proper inspection of the work post completion by the contractor. House was handed to us with many pending issues. The builder took advantage of the fact that we were not in a position to reschedule the closing and left many open items unaddressed. No proper response even after repeated follow up. No proper information provided. Pragmatic living conditions not taken into consideration. Many upgrades were ignored and we had to specifically point out and get the rework done. Almost 50+ days of closing and we still have many unsolved/unaddressed issues. ... More

I would never buy a Highland home again and would recommend anyone buying a new home to find another builder. The sales team is unresponsive, the Highland lending team (which they incentivize you to use) is incompetent, and the quality of work for the actual house is far less quality than you would expect for paying such a high price. We’ve had multiple things wrong with the house, damage to our personal property, and 2 months in to purchasing the house we still have so many things to fix. I wish we never bought a home from Highland and I will never again.

Highland Homes are beautiful but they seem to lack the quality a home at this price point deserves. From small things like caulking, cabinets, landscaping and heating and cooling. The buyer really has to pay attention to the whole home. I feel like I needed an inspector with me as I went thru the home. Highland has a great reputation but the experience was a major let down. There should be a quality manager that ensures the workmanship meets Highland Homes standards and reputation.

Sia and Miya were horrible in the end!! The beginning was great!! Until they received our money then it was crickets, no response to any emails no returned phone calls or texts. Daniel started off slow with responding but ended up being awesome.

Not Great experience with Highland Homes

If i do have a choice I will not buy any highland homes, they never mentioned all throughout the home construction and buying process that I bought a house beside sewer facility, The only time i knew when I send my own inspector a day prior to closing. There are so many unwated experience during construction process. They respond poorly for any warranty.
