I'm not going to spend much time here because I doubt they'll allow this to be posted. My home was rushed by the builder, not me. I was actually saying I'm fine with the expected delivery date. The builder wanted to meet their numbers for the year and pulled my home in by several months. There have been a few issues as a result of the short build window as well as some expected issues. In both cases, I would be fine if they were fixed in a timely manner. Instead the average time is around three weeks. Some issues never responded to at all. I paid for some extra things that aren't currently usable. Now that I'm here, I learned I'll have to spend more money to actually use those items. Completely unacceptable. The sales office was an outstanding experience. That was very nice. I'm glad part of this was enjoyable, but ultimately it all has to be there and Highland just dropped the ball on my home. ... More

Our Highland Homes buying experience was a wonderful one, thanks to the entire team, especially Bryon, our builder. We could only visit the new homesite once a month, and we placed our trust with Bryon and the entire Highland Homes team that was working with us. they did not disappoint. Throughout the entire process, they were in constant communication with us and were always readily available when we needed them. Overall, my home-buying experience was fantastic! My sales agent, Kathi, was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive to my inquiries. My realtor shared my price range with Kathi, and we were able to negotiate a beautiful home that perfectly meets my needs. My construction experience was generally satisfactory. Fortunately, the house was in the late stages of construction, so I didn’t have to endure the lengthy wait for completion or the hassle of building from scratch. The craftsmanship at Highland Homes is truly remarkable, surpassing the quality of my previous builder. While there are a few minor nitpicks, I am generally pleased with my purchase. I am still experiencing issues with my HVAC system, awaiting reimbursement for water due to a leak discovered after closing, and the stair still makes a cracking noise. Highland builds a great house. There were a few instances where there were inadvertent mistakes made with the incorrect material shipped that got installed. Once Highland found out, they quickly replaced the product to our satisfaction, no questions asked. We get an update each week providing information on what was completed that week and what's on the work schedule for the next week. It's been a great experience and I would highly recommend Highland to anyone looking to build a new home.

I had a very positive experience with the Sales person Sia. Not only was he was very knowledgeable about the build process but was very helpful and understanding. Sia went out of his way to accommodate our needs which was very refreshing. I cannot thank Sia enough for working with us and for his helpful nature. The construction build process was a little disappointing since they changed 3 construction managers on us from start to finish. The quality of construction especially during framing process was not good. Several build issues that were called out by the third party inspection report were not fixed even though I was given assurance that it was fixed. The issues were carried over towards the end of the build process and were challenging to fix them at the final stage. The architectural part of the floor plan could have been better in some areas like Master Bathroom, cabinets and front entrance. I strongly encourage for the architects to take a hard look and make improvements. Thanks to construction managers Tim J and Ryan A for being helpful and making appropriate suggestions. The process from the initial purchase to final move-in was smooth and well-organized. The builder kept everything on schedule, and there were no major surprises along the way. They made what could have been a stressful experience much easier for us. The quality of the home is excellent, with attention to detail throughout. From our first sales meeting , through the remote building process to closing and after moving in, the service and thoughtfulness from the entire Highland team was amazing. I would like to highlight our build manager Yale as the person who truly made this project a seamless experience. I paid the full price for the home, including all items that were supposed to be included in the price. However, many things were not installed, such as fans and lights. The fence planning was completely mishandled, and the retaining wall was either not built or left incomplete. Additionally, I found several issues with the AC, drainage, tiles, doors, and more. I'm very dissatisfied with the price, especially since it's over $100k higher than homes in other communities built by the same builder within Dallas city. This was our second Highland Home build in 5 years. We went from a 2 story to a 1 story closer to our grandkids and we love it! Our Building Supervisor Jared was once again wonderful in making our home exactly what we wanted to be. He and our sales associate Alyesha were 2 of the biggest reasons we built again. Love our home and we are just to grateful for their help and attention to detail!

Great build experience. High quality home. Very easy to work with staff. All needs listened to. Quick response to issues. All were addressed to my satisfaction. We would definetly build with Highland again.

Continuous struggle through the whole process

We haven’t paid much attention to quality of work before closing. We identified few issues but didn’t insist too much on getting them corrected. After closing we ran into many minor issues from wall paints to lose door handles breaker issues wrong door type poor quality electrical outlets etc etc While none of these are big issues…. I didn’t expect to run into these petty issues which highlighted the quality of construction I do want to note that Highland had been very responsive and are trying to fix the issues.

During the first month I’ve lived in the brand new house. Finished building October 22nd, closed on the house October 24th. 1. Bathroom light stopped working 2. Shelf in pantry fell apart 3. Electrical issues from the front porch plug. Doesn’t work, even after I reset the circuit breaker. 4. Still don’t get mail here OR able to find on maps. 5. The design of the back yard makes it flood. The water drains in the back are not where the water flows through so I just have this big puddle and mud section of my yard. I wonder what’s next.

It was a pleasure working with Nelli & Orion at Highland Homes. Nelli helped us plan and choose the right options. She also quickly worked through business issues as they surfaced. Orion built us a beautiful home. With the added challenge of being out of state buyers, he did an excellent job keeping us informed on the progress of our home. He has been very responsive to minor items that surfaced during the walk through and orientation. We are very pleased with our new home

From my experience (first and the LAST) with Highland homes is that they used very very cheep materials. we moved in little over a month now, the master bedroom closet where we hang clothes fell off with the metal bar, on the other side the brackets bending down and the wood piece coming off the wall. both garage doors making scary noise when goes up. kitchen entry door from garage always hits the pantry doors, also highland painted the door hinges. first of all I believe using dead cheep materials and poor supervision caused these issues,

Do your research regarding EVERY home builder, the craftsmanship, the integrity, the build and do not just go off beautiful model homes or beautiful, new communities. Do your research on WHO you can expect living in a brand new area, try to avoid sales talk at all times and be your own salesperson / get a team you personally trust who will have your best interest at heart. Build with a company who builds fairly, prices fairly even if it is more than you want it to be, but focus on all the small details, quality, the different crews and how they treat your property, and any and all members who you have to deal with along the way making sure you state your requirements and expectations. Don't let too much time go by wasted without a lack of responses, handing things poorly with communication, quality, and dealing with non-English speaking individuals who will only make it stressful for you and the environment. Document everything, take pictures of everything, and if your budget is being overstretched, consider going with another reputable, high-quality, more designer so you can actually get what you want and what you expected from the beginning. LOCATION and area is everything, and who is all going to live in your community. Keeping in mind HOA will not do much nor help much at all even though you pay them each month - they are only there to ensure the community looks pretty, stays uniformed and has events to celebrate. ...
