The Highland employees are very friendly and helpful. Building a new home Is a very complex process, so be sure to document everything and try to be as involved during the construction process, as possible. We are not pleased with the masonry sub-contractor but understand they have since replaced them. Highland also appears to be genuinely concerned about taking care of any warranty issues. Overall it was a fun and exciting experience. We love our new home and recommend Highland Homes.

The whole buying process was great, the construction manager, the sale counselor was great to accommodate us since this is our first time purchasing a home, let alone a new construction home. I think the workmanship is lacking up to Highland Standards.

Overall out house is good, however for the orice paid, a LOT of the finishes are very low quality. We paid over 600k for our home and as an example, our pendant lights are plastic, our door handles two months in are already coming apart. Low quality materials

In general, Highland Home’s houses are beautiful and therefore the prices are high, but the details of the house are not perfect and need to be repaired many times. They will fix for you but the time they respond to my requests is very slow. and sometimes they will not time. They are very busy and still things are yet to be fixed after a 2 month clouser, i think i paid more for the house compared to similar size build adjustment

Overall, we are happy with our home...but there are little things we think Highland could have done better at. Since moving in we've found things that either the construction manager or the subs should have caught before releasing the home. For instance - uneven grout, tiles with clearly visible chips, wobbly paint lines, inoperable or poorly installed data cables, and overall cleaning prior to release. I will say that when brought to the attention of the builder, they have been quick to remedy. Like I said, we are happy with the house but I doubt we will go with Highland if and when we need to move to a larger home. Home buying experience with loan department and realtor was very pleasant. Felt as if they were trying their best to allow us the best opportunity to purchase the home, and made the loan process straight forward. Greatest challenge during process was working with Jason the project manager. His response time was poor, and was very inflexible in finding a time to meet with him. I had to do his ONE OPTION, and my concerns/schedule was of no priority to him whatsoever. The walkthrough was condescending how he instructed and went over the home features, and if anything discussed prior needed to be done I had to reach out multiple times just to have a change of it getting done. Communication was not always good including the lack of consistent, periodic updates on construction status and warranty work. Some subcontractors were good, others were sloppy and unreliable.

Disappointed in the lack of attention to detail in workmanship. Builders rep has been responsive, but the quantity of discrepancies and the duration of time to remedy them has been frustrating. Some repairs have caused the need for subsequent repairs which have not been addressed. Unfortunately I would not recommend Highland Homes to others.

My husband and I thought we did our due diligence in researching different builders. We chose highland homes because of their great reviews and the praise they received by close friends and family. Anytime I would tell someone which builder we were going with, the response would always be “I love highland homes”. Our builder was super nice and once the building process began, he was really great at sending weekly updates of what was going on and what they were working on. I’m not sure if it was because there were so many other homes going up at the same time as ours (our builder did state that there was 2 other homes closing on the same day as us) or what went wrong, but I definitely feel as though they hired cheap, third party contractors and other construction workers that they typically don’t use. Upon moving in, our cabinets weren’t closing properly, our house wasn’t properly cleaned (paint stains on bathroom floors), hallway lights weren’t working, under the master bath sink was dirty, chips/scratches in wood flooring, our outside brick paint (which we paid extra for) was thin and you could see the red brick coming through, our dining chandelier wasn’t centered, our master bath counters weren’t fully glued down, crooked baseboards, our ceiling Sheetrock is not flat/can see where the sheets intersect and the worst of all- a master shower leak which required 1.5 weeks of in depth fixing. Our builder was really great at coming in to fix things in a timely manner but overall, the work just seemed pretty sloppy and it was disappointing to move into your brand new home and pretty much live in a construction zone as workers came in and out fixing things that should’ve already been done to begin with. We love our new Highland home. Kate in the office has been phenomenal from start to finish and continues to be great if we ever need her. I wish I could say the same for the builder. Emails were consistently ignored, communication on repairs were poor, and excuses were plenty. It wasn't until we complained that we started to get the service that we expected in the first place. The house had the normal things that needed to be repaired but nothing major. The one issue we have is the varying levels of the backyard. From this water collects on one side of our yard. The fill used for the dirt is poor so it stays muddy several days after it rains. When asked about this our builder said "well, it's up to code". It'll now be an added cost on use to fill the low spots. There are a few areas where it was clear the workers got lazy but overall we're happy with the house. Now if we can only get neighbors who don't leave dogs out all day to bark(obviously not on Highland but important to consider in the Morningstar neighborhood). ... More

We bougth our dream house , but we have many problem with plumbing ( toilet) paint , door , landscaping cabinet etc . They sell us a lambo and receive a focus , It not fair , we are very frustrated , we not recommend this builder company at all .

The home is beautiful, but there are several noticeable flaws. The house was rushed and the quality of work was awful. Most of the issues we see have to do with framing. Some of the walls are warped and not aligned with the other walls. We also had a water leak the week after we moved. Just very disappointed with the workmanship and quality of the home. I would not recommend highland homes.

At time of Final walkthrough there were +30 line items of things that needed to be done(e.g. All tile needed caulking, baseboards needed to be painted, melted outlets, chipped tiles, pantry shelves without supports) We pushed our closing date back for Highland to work on the house and we were told everything would be ready before the new closing date. We have spent the last 4 months taking off work to be at the house for contractors to FINISH our home... The builder I worked with was very unresponsive and never proactive. 2 of his superiors got involved and it always came across as if they just wanted to try defend the Highland Reputation instead of taking care of the customer buying the house. I was excited to move into my new Highland home, but I had some bad experience after I moved in. I had electrical issues the first week I moved in. My gas stove, most of my outlets and garbage disposal stop working. I also had plumbing issues. I took a bath in my stand alone bath and when I emptied the water out it all went into my shower pan almost causing a big flood of zooer water in my master bath. My toilet also got clog. The same occured my daughters bathroom. For two days I did not have access to both bathrooms. Thank goodness I have a third bathroom. I was disappointed that my first two weeks turned out this way in my new home. The builder over my home project has not been to great with my concerns. ... More

The house was not completed before closing and it was frustrated to ask them to come back the house for fixing stuff. My builder manager is bad at responding and following up with us about when stuff will be fixed or done. The dishwasher got fixed by them at least 3 time but still had not worked until we called the manufacturer people. The living room does not have the outlet behind the TV where we need the most, but the 4 bedrooms have it all The area in front of garage door is too dark and we dont have a light there. My friend’s house is exactly the same house plan with us but she has the light there without any asking or upgrading . Her builder did a lot of extra thing for her that he think they are necessary for the house. I think it is depend on who is your builder person that is responsible for the house. Overall I am not happy about the house and dont want to call them anymore so I just leave it like it is or fix it myself ... More

After hearing so many good things about Highland Homes, I decided to build my first home with them. I am honestly disappointed with the quality of workmanship. I would come by every week to see what had been done and the quality of work was very poor. When something new was done, something else was broken or damaged and had to get redone, which caused further delays in the process. I feel there’s no one watching out for the contractors to ensure work is being done properly; whatever gets the job done is done even if it looks bad. Even worse is that I had to bring the visible issues to the construction manager’s attention because it seems he didn’t care. I closed with some outstanding issues that were promised to be fixed after closing and I still have more than half of the issues pending. There is no urgency by anyone to get things done for the customers. They were quick to get me through the closing process to get my $$$, but the quality was definitely lacking and made it a not so good first time home building experience. Terrible experience- builder was not responsive and not forthcoming on issues. First building experience and it was awful. Love the house, hated the process.

This is my first home and the experience with Highland could not have been any worse. From delays, to financing, to the build quality of the home. Everything from doors to sprinklers, fence, hvac, even the way the loan was handled. We did everything in our part but Highland has time after time underdelivered. LOOK TO ANOTHER BUILDER!

During the purchase of the home, everything was great and we were assured that Highland Homes takes care of their buyers before and after the purchase. We have found that to be untrue. Our experience after moving in has been very poor. We still do not have a working stove exhaust hood and we have been in the home for over a month now. We have a ceiling fan making a loud noise and when the warranty manager came to look at it he explained that it doesn't make the noise if we keep the fan on low. This is the fix?! You have got to be kidding me! We have an exterior back door that has warped and the security sensor keeps giving us a false unauthorized entry alert. Again, the warranty manager came to look at it and said he would have the security company move and realign the sensor. This is the fix?! Leave a warped door on our brand new home and move the sensor. We are extremely frustrated and need help from Highland Homes Upper Management. Please help us. ... More

This builder has condescending sales staff ( once you’ve paid) and poor follow up on repair issues
