Highland was very responsive when we had an issue needing repair. They followed up to ensure the problem was resolved.

We love our highland home! The first builder project manager we had did not send updates and we didn’t feel included in the building process. We had several glitches through the finance and closing processes with document recording, closing dollar amount, holding keys at closing over $50 that was a quality review issue on the title and finance side and last minute upgrades that had to be installed. When Jesse came in and took over near closing he has treated us not only fairly but has gone above and beyond to ensure everything in our home is satisfactory for us. As with anything there will be issues. Highland does go above and beyond to make sure that you, the customer is satisfied and happy with your purchase. Can’t say that about too many other builders.

Quick construction causes a few lapses in attention to detail but overall very well-built and much nicer than what competitors offer. Upgrades are pricy but the whole process was made easy by our construction manager and sales team. Will likely use highland again in the future.

The Highland Homes sales and construction staff make this builder pleasant overall, which is why I gave it a higher "star" rating. The staff is incredibly responsive and wants to make things right and on time. My only disappointments are with the finish-out selections in some areas throughout the townhome, which are subpar and could be brought up a notch without hurting the bottom line. There simply in no excuse for some the cheap choices. For Example the dome lights in the bedrooms. These are so incredibly cheap, ugly and frankly insulting. But I will leave it at that. In general, Highland Home’s houses are beautiful and therefore the prices are high, but the details of the house are not perfect and need to be repaired many times. They will fix for you but the time they respond to my requests is very slow. and sometimes they will not time. They are very busy and still things are yet to be fixed after a 2 month clouser, i think i paid more for the house compared to similar size build adjustment

Overall out house is good, however for the orice paid, a LOT of the finishes are very low quality. We paid over 600k for our home and as an example, our pendant lights are plastic, our door handles two months in are already coming apart. Low quality materials

On my 3rd contractor…like starting from scratch over and over

Home buying experience with loan department and realtor was very pleasant. Felt as if they were trying their best to allow us the best opportunity to purchase the home, and made the loan process straight forward. Greatest challenge during process was working with Jason the project manager. His response time was poor, and was very inflexible in finding a time to meet with him. I had to do his ONE OPTION, and my concerns/schedule was of no priority to him whatsoever. The walkthrough was condescending how he instructed and went over the home features, and if anything discussed prior needed to be done I had to reach out multiple times just to have a change of it getting done. Communication was not always good including the lack of consistent, periodic updates on construction status and warranty work. Some subcontractors were good, others were sloppy and unreliable.

Love the house. A lot of small things needed to be fixed.

Disappointed in the lack of attention to detail in workmanship. Builders rep has been responsive, but the quantity of discrepancies and the duration of time to remedy them has been frustrating. Some repairs have caused the need for subsequent repairs which have not been addressed. Unfortunately I would not recommend Highland Homes to others.

Overall, the house is good from a construction standpoint. However, the painter did a TERRIBLE job, lots of missed spots. Even after pointing out several paint spot and areas of poorly done sheetrock during the final walkthrough, before being told those were “just cosmetic” and made to feel like we were being too picky about walls with giant areas of missing paint and noticeably uneven sheetrock. This is after they tried to sneak in a different countertop and tell me it was the same thing because they couldn’t find the one I ordered. (They did fix this after arguing with me and me calling management.) Also, the cleanup crew did not do a good job at all, with a noticeable layer of dust on the floor, and pencil markings all over the outside. ... More

There is no quality assurances. There is no trust to installer. After moved in and spent time cleaning up the house. I found out there are lots of damages, uncleaned while installing. If something they thought buyer can't see at walk through. they left damaged products in new home.

The home is beautiful, but there are several noticeable flaws. The house was rushed and the quality of work was awful. Most of the issues we see have to do with framing. Some of the walls are warped and not aligned with the other walls. We also had a water leak the week after we moved. Just very disappointed with the workmanship and quality of the home. I would not recommend highland homes.

We bougth our dream house , but we have many problem with plumbing ( toilet) paint , door , landscaping cabinet etc . They sell us a lambo and receive a focus , It not fair , we are very frustrated , we not recommend this builder company at all .

At time of Final walkthrough there were +30 line items of things that needed to be done(e.g. All tile needed caulking, baseboards needed to be painted, melted outlets, chipped tiles, pantry shelves without supports) We pushed our closing date back for Highland to work on the house and we were told everything would be ready before the new closing date. We have spent the last 4 months taking off work to be at the house for contractors to FINISH our home... The builder I worked with was very unresponsive and never proactive. 2 of his superiors got involved and it always came across as if they just wanted to try defend the Highland Reputation instead of taking care of the customer buying the house. The house was not completed before closing and it was frustrated to ask them to come back the house for fixing stuff. My builder manager is bad at responding and following up with us about when stuff will be fixed or done. The dishwasher got fixed by them at least 3 time but still had not worked until we called the manufacturer people. The living room does not have the outlet behind the TV where we need the most, but the 4 bedrooms have it all The area in front of garage door is too dark and we dont have a light there. My friend’s house is exactly the same house plan with us but she has the light there without any asking or upgrading . Her builder did a lot of extra thing for her that he think they are necessary for the house. I think it is depend on who is your builder person that is responsible for the house. After hearing so many good things about Highland Homes, I decided to build my first home with them. I am honestly disappointed with the quality of workmanship. I would come by every week to see what had been done and the quality of work was very poor. When something new was done, something else was broken or damaged and had to get redone, which caused further delays in the process. I feel there’s no one watching out for the contractors to ensure work is being done properly; whatever gets the job done is done even if it looks bad. Even worse is that I had to bring the visible issues to the construction manager’s attention because it seems he didn’t care. I closed with some outstanding issues that were promised to be fixed after closing and I still have more than half of the issues pending. There is no urgency by anyone to get things done for the customers. They were quick to get me through the closing process to get my $$$, but the quality was definitely lacking and made it a not so good first time home building experience. This is my first home and the experience with Highland could not have been any worse. From delays, to financing, to the build quality of the home. Everything from doors to sprinklers, fence, hvac, even the way the loan was handled. We did everything in our part but Highland has time after time underdelivered. LOOK TO ANOTHER BUILDER!

Terrible experience- builder was not responsive and not forthcoming on issues. First building experience and it was awful. Love the house, hated the process.

I was so excited to have my family's home built by Highland, but the experience just got worse and worse as time passed. About 8 months into build, Highland moved the construction manager working on our home to another site and that's when everything went downhill. The new manager was not responsive to my concerns. Especially in regard to green paint being spilled and splattered all over the first floor of the home. I noticed it the week it happened and reported ASAP. It still sat for months, going ignored; it just seemed really disrespectful to the fact that this was going to be our home and they didn't care to clean it up. I understand accidents happen on construction sites, but it was as if someone took a gallon bucket of paint and threw it from across the room, at the back kitchen wall. To this day, (three months post move-in), we are still finding green paint stains in the wood flooring and on cabinets. In addition to the home completing more than 3 months late, everything wasn't completed by closing; in fact, Highland wanted to push closing because they weren't ready. The house had major issues upon closing and we had to add an addendum to the contract that held Highland responsible for finishing the items they weren't able to, before closing. In addition to this, two-weeks after closing, we had a major flood in the bathroom, which lead us to discover a leak that had been ongoing since before we took possession of the house. This lead to two-weeks of major construction of my octogenarian grandparents' portion of the home. It completely destroyed the floors, walls, etc. While Highland was responsive to the issue, they did not go above and beyond to reconcile this issue that was due to their negligence. There is blue board missing behind tile and it has already sunk-in; we continue to have issues with the irrigation leaking, although we've asked for it to be addressed several times.
