The Highland employees are very friendly and helpful. Building a new home Is a very complex process, so be sure to document everything and try to be as involved during the construction process, as possible. We are not pleased with the masonry sub-contractor but understand they have since replaced them. Highland also appears to be genuinely concerned about taking care of any warranty issues. Overall it was a fun and exciting experience. We love our new home and recommend Highland Homes.

My wife and I were absolutely amazed with the quality of our home and the quality of relationship we experienced with the Highland Team. From our sales rep Debby to our builder Kevin, we were taken care of and shown quality care through the whole process. We highly recommend Highland to anyone looking to buy a home.

Excellent in every way... Layne was the ultimate salesmAn, both professionally as well as personally in demonstration. His sincerity and follow through was beyond measure. I felt like I was a “ member of his family” and his efforts to foster my happiness was incredible! Corey, my builder, surpassed in every way any expectations that I may have had with my home/ even anticipated any concerns! His responses to my questions were expedient and addressed immediately without question . Tremendous workmanship and caring!!!!

During the purchase of the home, everything was great and we were assured that Highland Homes takes care of their buyers before and after the purchase. We have found that to be untrue. Our experience after moving in has been very poor. We still do not have a working stove exhaust hood and we have been in the home for over a month now. We have a ceiling fan making a loud noise and when the warranty manager came to look at it he explained that it doesn't make the noise if we keep the fan on low. This is the fix?! You have got to be kidding me! We have an exterior back door that has warped and the security sensor keeps giving us a false unauthorized entry alert. Again, the warranty manager came to look at it and said he would have the security company move and realign the sensor. This is the fix?! Leave a warped door on our brand new home and move the sensor. We are extremely frustrated and need help from Highland Homes Upper Management. Please help us. ... More

The whole buying process was great, the construction manager, the sale counselor was great to accommodate us since this is our first time purchasing a home, let alone a new construction home. I think the workmanship is lacking up to Highland Standards.

My husband and I thought we did our due diligence in researching different builders. We chose highland homes because of their great reviews and the praise they received by close friends and family. Anytime I would tell someone which builder we were going with, the response would always be “I love highland homes”. Our builder was super nice and once the building process began, he was really great at sending weekly updates of what was going on and what they were working on. I’m not sure if it was because there were so many other homes going up at the same time as ours (our builder did state that there was 2 other homes closing on the same day as us) or what went wrong, but I definitely feel as though they hired cheap, third party contractors and other construction workers that they typically don’t use. Upon moving in, our cabinets weren’t closing properly, our house wasn’t properly cleaned (paint stains on bathroom floors), hallway lights weren’t working, under the master bath sink was dirty, chips/scratches in wood flooring, our outside brick paint (which we paid extra for) was thin and you could see the red brick coming through, our dining chandelier wasn’t centered, our master bath counters weren’t fully glued down, crooked baseboards, our ceiling Sheetrock is not flat/can see where the sheets intersect and the worst of all- a master shower leak which required 1.5 weeks of in depth fixing. Our builder was really great at coming in to fix things in a timely manner but overall, the work just seemed pretty sloppy and it was disappointing to move into your brand new home and pretty much live in a construction zone as workers came in and out fixing things that should’ve already been done to begin with. I was excited to move into my new Highland home, but I had some bad experience after I moved in. I had electrical issues the first week I moved in. My gas stove, most of my outlets and garbage disposal stop working. I also had plumbing issues. I took a bath in my stand alone bath and when I emptied the water out it all went into my shower pan almost causing a big flood of zooer water in my master bath. My toilet also got clog. The same occured my daughters bathroom. For two days I did not have access to both bathrooms. Thank goodness I have a third bathroom. I was disappointed that my first two weeks turned out this way in my new home. The builder over my home project has not been to great with my concerns. ... More

Awesome experience! Highland Homes went above and beyond for my family. We were constantly updated and treated like we were the only home under construction. Best builder, hands down.

We love our new Highland home. Kate in the office has been phenomenal from start to finish and continues to be great if we ever need her. I wish I could say the same for the builder. Emails were consistently ignored, communication on repairs were poor, and excuses were plenty. It wasn't until we complained that we started to get the service that we expected in the first place. The house had the normal things that needed to be repaired but nothing major. The one issue we have is the varying levels of the backyard. From this water collects on one side of our yard. The fill used for the dirt is poor so it stays muddy several days after it rains. When asked about this our builder said "well, it's up to code". It'll now be an added cost on use to fill the low spots. There are a few areas where it was clear the workers got lazy but overall we're happy with the house. Now if we can only get neighbors who don't leave dogs out all day to bark(obviously not on Highland but important to consider in the Morningstar neighborhood). ... More

Overall, we are happy with our home...but there are little things we think Highland could have done better at. Since moving in we've found things that either the construction manager or the subs should have caught before releasing the home. For instance - uneven grout, tiles with clearly visible chips, wobbly paint lines, inoperable or poorly installed data cables, and overall cleaning prior to release. I will say that when brought to the attention of the builder, they have been quick to remedy. Like I said, we are happy with the house but I doubt we will go with Highland if and when we need to move to a larger home. Although a semi-custom builder, don't believe they really took the time to make sure the house it perfect. More concerned with closing and moving on to the next house in line. ... More
