I decided to build with Highland Homes in Katy TX and am so glad I chose them. Everyone I encountered/ worked with went above and beyond to meet or exceed every request/ expectation. They were all kind, knowledgeable, responsive, kept me informed for every step of the process, and provided customer service that I thought was extinct. My house is perfect in every way, and any hiccups (which have been very minimal) have been addressed within or under 24hrs. Todd (in charge of my build) went out of his way to make my dream home a reality including requests I figured would be a long shot, which made a huge impact for me. With what I’m hearing from neighbors that went with other builders I hit the jackpot, so I’d definitely highly recommend them. We decided to build with Highland because of the option to customize. Denise our sales rep was informative and thorough. Jim was our builder and he was truly a class act. I was so pleased with his responsiveness and his delivery of a great product. I love my home. We really built our forever home with Highland.

Working with the highland team was seamless. Excellent communication with Daniel and Jack. Any questions I had Daniel was quick to respond. I’m so glad I went with highland and will recommend them to family and friends who are looking for their next home.

I felt the response time in addressing some issues were very slow and some of the workmanship left a lot to be desired installing damaged goods are just not acceptable

I purchased an inventory home. The purchasing experience was great, smooth sailing and closed on time. The sales representative and finance team were very responsive and courteous. The minor problems were readily addressed by the Quality Management team.

Hayley, our sales consultant, was earnest, sincere and helpful in answering all of our questions. This was our fourth house that we have bought. Hayley is by far the best sales consultant of the bunch. Dalton, our construction mgr, has been extremely honest and helpful in addressing any questions that we bring to his attention. Highland representatives have been great....and our house is well built and should last for years. Thanks Highland Homes!

Overall great experience for us

Me and my wife moved from Ca to Tx. Mac and Dakotoa helped make it the smoothest move we have ever had. We are so happy with how our house turned out. We love every bit of it.

We have previously built a new home with Highland some 13 years ago, and our past great experience was not matched this time. Not even close. They were resistant to even minor changes in the house plan, and one employee noted the business model had changed 4 or 5 years ago. Frankly, the house was just not ready for move in, and the punch list grew longer every day. There have been electrical issues, plumbing issues, landscape issues, and more . 8 weeks later we still have items not completed though staff says they are working at it. We clearly are not a priority. This experience with Highland has been disappointing to say the very least, and I could not in good faith recommend this builder to a friend. ... More

We love our new Highland Home! We loved to high quality and beautiful layout, its perfect! Our Realtor, Kelli was/is amazing and has supported our home buying and move in from start to finish...she is a gem! We had a few one off's that were corrected immediately, however there were a few challenges with the large picture windows that needed them to be completely reframed and replaced. We are awaiting that to be scheduled, now that we know the issue. The construction manager is very friendly, however limited on his availability to assist timely or be present to ensure the communication with the contractor(s) on the issue is resolved with minimal impact to our time. My experience in purchasing a home with HighLands homes has been exceptional with the Sales rep. at WoodForest however not so well since the workmanship and quality build has been very poor and am highly dissatisfied since the many sub contractors hired on lacked experience, quality build, workmanship, poor judgment. These contractors did not care about their job, they just came in to do the bare minimum and left to goto the next job. I monitored my home build daily. I would come on site over see the build, take pictures on the progress of the build and saw so many mistakes these contractors were doing, some of which these contractors should have been fired on the spot. ... On my first visit to the sales office, Hunter was able to knowledgeably answer all my questions- a crucial factor in my decision process. He remained responsive throughout the process offering design ideas that truly enhanced the home. I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with Joseph as the CM from start to finish. The true test in any project of this magnitude is to observe how someone handles the inevitable challenges. Joseph was always the calm in the eye of the storm exhibiting professionalism and respect throughout. He was keenly aware that this particular build represented more than just a house. He instinctively said and followed through on the right things at the right time. In fact, I felt he treated this build as if it were his own. We relocated from DFW to the Houston area a few months ago and were in the search for a one-story home. We investigated the Cane Island community in Katy, Texas, and found Jason, our sales rep, who showed us a Highland home virtually. We loved the floor plan, but the flooring and tile were not to our liking, so Jason sold us their model! He walked with us and communicated through every step of the 7-month process, and we moved into our beautiful home in September 2022. Highland Homes has addressed and repaired each and every wear and tear or maintenance issue we've had. The communication with Jeremy, the construction manager, and Jason, our sales rep has been stellar. Our family fell in love with Highland's floor plans and overall design. It was different from the other model homes we visited. After a long fail attempt of trying to purchase a home we decided to just build a new construction. Glenn was great from the beginning, he made us feel really comfortable and we felt really good with starting the process. Unfortunately we had a major delay with CenterPoint, as frustrating as it was we understand it wasn't Highlands fault. What we feel like was Highlands fault is that the craftmanship wasn't up to their standard. The house sat for months with imperfections that could of been address instead of when we moved in. Sheetrock and paint has been a horrible experience. We are extremely disappointed. Sheet rock was poorly done, we had waves, lines weren't straight, uneven texture throughout the whole home. You would think since the walls are textured they would be able to hide how imperfect the walls were, but nope we literally can see where all the walls were joined. I would like to think after paying so much for a home, that if they can't get it perfect it would at least come close to being perfect. We've been to homes that close half of what ours cost and their walls and paint didn't have any imperfection, because yes we are the type to look for things like that. We have base boards and door trims that look like they have a bunch of dings and a fail attempt to patch it. My door trims around look like it has acne and paint to patch it up like make-up. We were extremely proud to have Highland be our builder, but now we wouldn't recommend anyone purchasing a Highland Home. We love our house but do feel for the craftsmanship, we extremely over paid. ... More

Overall my home is good, but the paint job is just very poor. I did use the entire roll of blue tape at the walk thru. Touch ups were done incorrectly and my experience with the painters did ruin my excitement for my new home.

I was a first time home buyer. For the most part things went smoothly. I feel the sales department was pushy at the beginning. They also didn’t communicate very well through the entire process, there was little to no reach out by them. The home was done but many things had to be touched up after we moved in.

Materials used are great. People working at HIGHLAND are very respectful and responsive. Quality of workmanship is below average. Not sure if this is related to Pandemic labor shortage. Overall a good experience buying and closing, except workmanship is not upto the mark.

Although highland may have a stunning plot plan the management of contractor craftsmanship and quality is severely lacking. Aside from their plot plan there is absolutely no difference in this builder from any other cookie cutter neighborhood home. It’s clear to see that each contractor has less respect for the home than the last. Spending half a million dollars on a home should yield more quality and excitement when moving in. Our blue tape walk items are still outstanding 2+ months later. The longer we live in the home the more we are blown away by lack of craftsmanship, quality and the amount of corners cut to “complete” the home. You should NOT have to deep clean construction mess after closing as the homeowner nor should you have to waste your time with the quick patch/bandaid jobs for items that have no reason to be left as outstanding. The initial experience with HH was fantastic. Sales lady is an amazing person overall and was very helpful throughout the process. The second superintendent assigned to my house was easy to work with as well, but that's about where the positives end. My house was rushed (finished 2 months "ahead of schedule") and it showed. Poor painting, very poor trim work, and floors not adequately protected while contractors still in the house leading to cosmetic issues. The grass was laid prematurely causing uneven ground and poor drainage, lots of trash left on the property after "completion", and just overall a lack of attention to detail. The superintendent assigned to my house 4 days before closing was stuck with a pile of junk and desperately rushed to fix the issues. I had to do the final walk through after I closed and all of the issues weren't resolved until 5-6 weeks after I moved in. I take responsibility for not pushing back on the close date given the state of the house, but I was continually promised it would be completed. Ultimately my experience showed me that the employees you will deal with on a day-to-day basis are amazing, but it is lead by a management team who is completely out of touch making poor choices and putting their employees in a bad position with the home buyers. ...
