Love the home, but due to COVID, they took very long to come and fix a few issues with our home. Still waiting on things that haven’t been taken care of.

We were 8 hours away while house was being built. Salesman keep us in the loop and was very easy to get in touch with. We were disappointed in the standard choices at the design center and had to upgrade just about everything. House was completed exactly on schedule. Some things that you would think would be standard were upgrades. Such as ethernet drops in office and entertainment room, coach lights on front of house, different color paint, under cabinet lighting, ceiling fans in all rooms. My experience with Highland Homes is as below. Positive experiences - Good plans. I found Highland Homes plans quite good. I think they have made good use of the overall space and good amount of light in the homes. - The construction material is generally good, with some exceptions as highlighted below in the negative section. - The home was delivered before the promised timeline, which was quite helpful. - The Sales Team was quite good and responsive. They were helpful in making some minor changes here and there, although, everything was through a change order. Negative. - Design Center experience was not up to the mark. The available options for upgrade were limited, especially in the case of wood flooring/Laminate. There were barely 4-5 options for laminate flooring and relatively few wooden flooring options. - Quality of workmanship. In my experience few places the supervision of the work was not adequate. E.g. the tiles in the master bathroom were not in perfect level as a result you can feel the edges and not much can be done about it. Also the sod in the backyard was laid without proper levelling as a result there is lot of uneven surface, which is an expensive proposition for the customer after closing which could have been avoided with little supervision. - Material. My observation on material quality is particularly with framing. I noticed in few places the studs used were not very good or strong. I had a hard time installing TV wall mount as some of the studs were damaged. This could have been avoided with supervision. There was a noticeable difference in the framing as compared to some of the leading builders. - Responsiveness. The response from the project team has not been up to the mark. While it was addressed to some extent, but it went down after the closing again. - Value for the price. The upgrades in general were very expensive, including the listed price, while some promotions were applied but there was little adjustment for the steep price drop right after the closing. Overall, I am happy with my home as it built before the promised timeline and like the plan, but there is a lot of room for improvement in the overall customer experience as highlighted above. ... We loved that highland had more options to customize our home compared to other builders.

I love the floor plan options, the experience with the sales team was simple and straightforward (no pressure). The construction project manager was awesome and very responsive throughout the construction and was very accommodating to my needs. When it comes to the quality of contractors' work, only a few were careful with their quality of work. Most of the contractors (painters, carpenters, dry wall people etc.) very VERY SLOPPY. I just don't understand how they would simply miss the spots that were either damaged during the construction or didn't get textured/or missed paint. I had to point out a lot of things that shouldn't have been there to begin with, and even then had to call back the painters a few times because they still kept missing regardless of the blue tape. While I am happy with overall purchase, very dissatisfied with the quality of work. However, I do appreciate the construction manager because he still takes care of any issues that I point out, and that really makes up for the sloppy work of the contractors. ... More

We are reasonably pleased. The 7 day in advance of close walk through to point out imperfections and then nothing after close is totally unreasonable

Overall great design and high quality but there have been a few issues that have come up. Most have been resolved in a professional and timely manner or hopefully will be soon. One outstanding item that we discovered was an issue with the property line and placement of the retaining wall and fence. Unfortunately, Highland was made aware of the issue but never brought it to our attention. We actually discovered the issue while hiring a pool company and a company to install and whole house generator. I brought this up with Highland management three weeks ago and am still waiting for resolution or a plan for resolution. With how tight the lots are it is a material issue for us, but we are hopeful that Highland will resolve the issue soon so we can continue to get the work done and enjoy our beautiful new home. I can't stress enough the great design and overall quality of the home which is what made us buy it. The 40 ft lot is just too small. The house needs just a few feet more width for the rooms to not be awkward sized. The garages are very small. There are a lot of nice features as well. Builders is very responsive to warranty requests.

My experience with my new home is good and could be better if the list of pending items are not so high! When I bought the house, the seller mentioned the inspection process and every item that was not in accordance with my expectation would be fixed. I walked through the house, and we found lots of items that needed to be fixed and unfortunately lots of the items were not solved and even after 1 month, we still have items to be fixed. My second point is related to house cleaning. The carpets, garage and attic were very dirty with dust, and material left behind by the crew. My expectation is that I will receive the house cleaned. One of my frustrations is regarding the sprinklers, because when I bought it, it was mentioned that I could manage the sprinklers through the app on my phone, however it was not mentioned that I need to buy the network card. It was set an expectation and when I wanted to see working, it was communicated that I needed to buy a card to see working, so the expectation that was set created a feeling of frustration and disappointment. My last comment is related to the good Job that Andres is doing to fix all pending items that I have to work on my house. My only suggestion is Hinghlands implement an inspection process with superior quality because some of the rework can be minimized and overall client satisfaction will be better. ... More

The look and build of house looks great, but the fixes that need to be adressed are still been worked on from last 2 months

Overall a great experience with building. Construction manager was on top of most things and good build out. With the rush towards the end we didn’t get the full ready to move in experience. We still have a few things that need to be worked on.

This was our second Highland Home and the fit and finishes inside where not done as well as our previous home. We were not allowed to change much of anything in reference to colors and options. There was also a lot of trim and paint problems such as doors and drawers not fitting and closing as they should and fitting was off in numerous places. You expect better quality for the price point.

Our project manager, Keith, was very good. Very responsive. Our sales people, CeCe and Fran, were also very good and helpful.

Overall, we had a good homebuying experience. Unfortunately some of the workmanship was sloppy and not attentive to detail and involved a lot of fixes after the fact (e.g. all electrical switches and caps covered in paint, caulking issues, lot of spaces missing paint, uneven flooring, stair balusters covered in spray paint, trims around door and windows unevenly cut, protruding nails throughout the house, concrete in front of house is full of cracks and chips, empty space left between caps and pipes). My friend's Highland Homes did not have this many issues. We do recognize that Highland Homes has been coming out and fixing some of the issues. He is overextended with too many homes but he does a great job with the time he has

During my walk through, I had addressed a few issues as well as poor paint job. The subcontractors removed the tape and did not address most of the issues. Now due to COVID I can’t get the subcontractors to come back and address the issues that should’ve been taken care of before closing.

Great buying process

Had to call twice now for breaker keeps blowing. Electrician keeps coming out saying there is no issues. So guess we will just have to get used to resetting the breaker.
